This was a very exciting victory for Donny Schatz and Ford powered sprint. I would love to see drivers like Gravel, Haudenshield, Macedo, Jacob Allen, Brent Marks which I classify as young guns up and coming Haul of famers race a Ford powered Sprint. I wish TSR still even had Madsen behind the wheel of the 14. Donny and Kerry still got it and really know how to get the Ford's in victory lane.
Brent Marks may have only got 7th in the race but this is 2 years in a row with top 10s in the Knoxville Nationals and with this 7th it adds $19,000 to his earnings giving him over a half a million for the season at just over $516,000
The timing of the cautions didn't help Brent. That's for sure. Especially when you make a pass for 3rd and they throw the fuel stop yellow right before you get to the flag. With all the yellow and red flags throughout the race, I don't know why they wouldn't have a fuel stop then instead of interrupting a nice green flag run.
@Brian Siler this is the biggest of the biggest sprint car races of the season. But my personal favorite is the Tuscarora 50 the weekend after Labor Day at Port Royal Speedway. That race isn't just a PA Posse show like it was in it early days but a ASCOC sanctioned race and the ASCOC biggest money race on their schedule. That whole week is special. Just that drive from the Harrisburg area of Central PA to Port Royal PA is special with easily some of the most beautiful scenery of driving that you will see in the country with the mountains, hills, valleys rivers etc. Then when you are at Port Royal Speedway for that week they have their weekly Juniata County fair going on with so many choices of food with so many vendors selling basically just about any type of food. Lots of games and rides and music as well with a farm show and crafts in the area as well all right behind the grandstands of Port Royal Speedway. Can't beat that whole week which starts on Labor day weekend for just PA Posse shows on Saturday then the Labor Day classic and on Thursday and Friday ASCOC races with $8000 for winner Thursday, $10000 for winner Friday and for the Tuscarora 50 on Saturday $55000 for the winner in this PA Posse vs ASCOC feature. Great food, great fun and great racing makes for the best week in the country for family fun mixed with great racing.
