- Neil Peart gives a behind-the-scenes look at the making of "The Hockey Theme." Canada's TSN (The Sports Network) decided to recreate "The Hockey Theme" and wanted to use iconic Canadians in the process. The theme is recognized as Canada's second national anthem, so when the network decided to recreate it, they wanted to use the best. The first person that came to mind was Rush drummer Neil Peart. This DVD takes you through the process of arranging and recording this famous piece, and also contains bonus features, including the original music video. 88 mins. running time.

I love you Neil. I am so blessed to have watched you in concert for four decades all the way back to hemispheres. When I went and seen the clocksworks tour I told my wife on the way home it’s going to be hard when one of those three guys go on the other two that are left and to be the last one never did I dream it would be this soon. I was devastated, I always felt special ever since I was 13 1976 and I heard rush 2112 and the fact that I got it immediately. And no one knew who you were I Felt so special like you’re my hidden secret. It’s amazing to see Wedt you all accomplished. Always in the hearts of so many I don’t speak for others. But I’m sure that I can speak this one time and say there’s millions and millions of brokenhearted fansAnd friends. R.I.P. Sir Neil Peart, The professor.
Steve Ray wonderful tribute! First saw them in 1989 during the Presto tour. Still heart broken over Neil’s passing. May he Rest in Beats. May he be jamming with the likes of Rich, Krupa, Moon, Bonham...etc up in Heaven.
I saw Rush in the UK twice during the "permanent waves" tour back in '80. Then, as happens, I got taken by other genres and came back "full circle" a few years ago to several of my original faves (amongst others collected through the years) . Neil' s death has totally knocked me sideways, unexpectedly. Now and then I find find a big, wet tear streaking my face when I listen to him talk or play. Can't say why, seeing as I never even met him but there is something so "human", so vulnerable about him that has struck a chord very deeply in me. What a remarkable man, on so many levels. Of course time will soften the shock and pain that we are experiencing and a profound gratitude and love will remain in our hearts for Neil, and Alex and Geddy, of course. Sending a big hug...

a merger between us and Canada should simply be called America. That would settle all the fuss about us "monopolizing" the name 'America'... which has been never been approved as legitimate by Congress anyway, it's just short for United States of America. If Canada had opted to keep its original name of British America the point would be moot.

Heads up for anyone purchasing the digital copy of this: despite this trailer being in HD, the Digital Version is just a DVD rip, and is locked behind a DRM player online and offline. Bit misleading, frankly...you'd be better off buying the DVD. Drum Channel has an HD version, but is missing the bonus features and is not downloadable (and costs $197 USD a year). Hoping one day an HD version of this becomes available for purchase.
I can't believe he was exactly one mile from my house with the Cal State Northridge band. Makes me sick. Or CSUN as we call it.

he started on Slingerlands. tama was second. at this point he had every drum maker in the world begging for his endorsement. he wrote an article in modern drummer talking about setting up 6-7 different brands of drums, all of them made to his specs. the super classic Ludwig won and was third. dw endorses him now. must be nice eh? he gave away a few of his drum sets in the late 80's, in a contest on modern drummer.

Neil I've sent a few messages I know we'll never talk probably but since I've been a kid and I mean a kid cuz I'm 46 years old you have been my idol and I have wanted to talk to you understand you and I feel you I don't know if that makes any sense but I do feel Who You Are I play the drums the same my inhibition since to the fans wear the same I know we'll probably never talk and that's okay I know you can't I know you got a billion people chasing you but if we ever could sit down and have a meal together I know you and I would be friends I know this because of the drummer I am and I know this because of the person I am if you go through your archives you will see I've sent some messages about 5 not too many I'll never try to bombard you I've sent about 5 I don't want to hurt you but I do want to say this much I will probably die and never achieve my goals and that's okay but I do want to say this what an inspiration you are both behind the drums and more so as a human let me see that one more time more so as a person after I grew up and seen the man you were I think I love you more for the person you are and then the drumming you ever did but in the meantime man what a great man you've been for me so if I die and we never see each other I thank you I thank you I thank you I thank you thank you Neil Peart for being such a great influence in my life
