  • Welcome back to the channel, I head off to the bridle track for a camp and look around for the weekend with ‪@toddy4x4photography‬ .This is the first time i have driven on the new bypass track around the bluff. We relax and camp next to the beautiful Macquarie river at Grimleys Reserve , have a nice fire and feed. The weather was very mild for this time of year, we really enjoyed this weekend of light touring throughout this region.
Thank you so much for watching and all the support

It looks like another trip there to check out the new by-pass is on the cards. I also saw you on an article regarding this topic in the Unsealed 4x4 newsletter/website. Haha, found the limit of a 76 just 2.25 in, diff locks required ASABS (as soon as bitumen stops).
Just had to point out how redicuously incapable the supposedly claimed best Toyota 4WD is.
How do I know, I owned one.
Fellow 4wd club member made the fatal mistake of not opting for diff locks when ordering his.
He was so bitterly disappointed in his 76, as I was, even with diff locks. Diff lock knob was the most utilised dial on the dash, hahaha
I opted out and returned to my faithful old Jackaroo that clambered up & down most things you pointed it at, it made the 76 a very incapable, super uncomfortable 4WD.
Hope your rotary dial stays intack for the balance of the trip. Nice confirmation of what I've said since owning one, don't take it off the actual roadway, or take twice as long getting super fatigued doing it.

@@shaddonaghue thanks for reply, yes wasn't at all impressed by mine but aside from that yes the opening of the bridle track is awesome, took far to long though.
The final route is what was initially proposed, and should that been acted on in 2010-11 it would have cost stuff all in comparison to the final figure in 2023 but council claimed it wasn't possible, well it happened, so it was possible.
Problem was as I saw it, this rock slide occured just after amalgamation of Evans shire council into Bathurst city council, resulting in Bathurst regional council. The route previously fell within Evans Shire boundaries.
The new council was doing everything possible to avoid funding this newly acquired road way repair.
Stuff up after stuff up resulted.
Initially they resurfaced the Root Hog road to make it readily accessible to parents to get their kids to school only to discover they'd upgraded the road illegally thru private property, hence the land owner locked this newly formed road off. Geez he created a massive headache for council, but he won the contest, it was his land and council had illegally created an illegal route thru his property.
Council was then forced to create a whole new road around the property owners boundaries and create new fencing along the route, so the landowner got brand new boundry fencing also along with a beautiful access road into his property.
Alas, the money spent on both Root Hogg upgrades would have intially funded the current route bypassing the bluff.
Yes, it's finally open, far far too long after that rock slide in 2010.
Another interesting fact, the road was opened, but business operators in Hill End weren't informed.
I informed the publican at the royal hotel, he disbelieved me until all the my accompaniment confirmed it.
They were about to be swamped with clientele and weren't informed by authorities, amazing.

Just loved how you totally ignored the private property, no trespassing signs and fencing at Battery Stamp Site opposite the turon river rest area and ventured in regardless, then advocate others follow your lead.
Then everyone asks, why is it locked off to us, cause its not your land, its someone else's. Do you really wonder why these property owners get this ittss with the 4WD fraternity thinking it's our god given right to walk onto their property.
If there is a sign, oblige by it.
What was once allowed no longer is. If you injure youself, the owner is responsible, thats why they shut access down.

    • @shaddonaghue
      @shaddonaghue  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Im sorry mate, but there was no sign saying that when we went there , whether it’s private property or not i was unaware. There is no way I would intentionally mislead anyone into that. Thanks for making me aware and i will definitely look into this further.

@@shaddonaghue the last two times I've been past there was signage and a temporary fence, however I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone has taken it upon themselves to remove as it was restricting access to an are the general public was previously accessing, as you probably have done and I've definitely done, so if it wasn't there when you arrived you'd known no better.
Guessing it will be addressed soon enough by owner or national parks.
      Thanks for acknowledging.
There is another area out there I'm aware of that state forests thought was theirs, even providing permits for timber collection, motorsport events etc.
Took the actual land owners years to convince them he owned the property and all state Forest approved permits allowed trespassers onto his property illegally, resulting in major conflicts. He's now finally allowed to take action against trespassers, having a consistent trespassers charged by the rural policing unit. I quiet by chance met the land owner in a Aldi carpark, he began a discussion re my vehicle that eventually led to him disclosing the ordeal he'd been having with general public willingly trespass on his property, so guessing I see another side of this now, knowing how the landowner can be held accountable for injury etc. His main concern is the ones whom illegally camp there, light a camp fire and don't extinguish it.
Reasoning, once the fire begins on his property he's responsible if it gets away into state Forest, whom now are very aware it's his property, haha.
No issues with you bud as you obviously wasn't aware if signage has been removed, enjoy your 76.

@@ianweal3081 No worries mate , issues all over the place with access and private property. This particular weekend we extinguished 3 campfires on the Sunday morning, all close to the river so no excuse why these people just left and didn’t put there fire out, also so much rubbish left around, I filled my wheelie bag up. I don’t get it or have an answer for some people’s behaviour. Thanks again mate 👍

Hi Shad, appears I owe you an apology , I'm just following up on the battery stamp fence.
We undertook a drive today. Guy leading the trip intended to drive straight past as he knew it had been fenced off, BUT as you said, the fence & signs are no longer, so we ventured in as you did.
Then on rejoining the road headed nth the fence & signs were evident again.
My theory is someone has taken it upon themselves to remove signs & fence directly infront of battery stamp access, so I do understand you not seeing fence signs now.
      Regards, Wealie.
