Through their songs, Ive wanted to know more and read more about the story about Alvin York, "No Bullets Fly" and Shiroyama. Just amazing story-telling.
I’ve told a couple people now, if you like one Sabaton song, you’ll like them all. Very consistent sound and feel to all their songs, which I appreciate. There’s no other band, even my favorites, who I like all their songs except for Sabaton.
The song No Bullets Fly is a discovery for many young Germans. I already knew the story and cried when I heard this song for the first time. A story like this would probably never be repeated in today's world. They teach history to most fans. They also told me about many wars and the events that took place during them. Thanks! ❤
I am not sure if the song alone can convey the scope of heroic virtue, of "humanity" demonstrated by Franz Stigler and I think more people should know about it. So here the background story from Sabtrons homepage: "Following a successful air raid on the German city of Bremen, Charlie Brown's American B-17 bomber, ‘Ye Old Pub’, suffered severe damage. When German fighter ace, Franz Stigler, was ordered to shoot it down, he risked his life to escort the bomber to safety instead of attacking. " According Wiki Stigler was about to make a medal with shooting down the bomber, yet he decided to save some fellow suffering humans from certain death. Not due to duty nor pride nor hate nor fear nor revenge. His actions were guided by compassion for other human beings. In a time where it was normal to dehumanize your enemy. I can't stress enough how much I respect this kind of behaviour. It gives me hope for humanity. A bright light in all the evil we produce. (or good that we destroy depending how you want to look at it).
