Just a clarification, re: Roads (35:13). You get a +1 added to a unit's movement as long as it ENTERS any hex with a Road. The cost of entering any terrain while FOLLOWING a Road is always '1'.

Thanks for this. I have CC Europe and Pacific but only ever played a couple of solo games of Pacific (which I bought first).

@@PatricksTacticsTutorials Still not got round to playing since my previous comment but hope to soon. Watching this video again certainly helps. Could do with you making a video like this for Fields of Fire. 😉

Thanks for this great intro/refresher! To be honest I was a bit surprised to hear CC been referred to as a "beer and pretzels" game by one of the guests. It might not have a 300 pp manual like ASL, but it does have much depth imo and is highly competitive. Perhaps a "non-lifestyle" game, as compared to ASL, might have been a better phrase.

At 30:50 you said leaders cannot have anything with encumbrance. I can't seem to find confirmation of this rule in CC: Europe. However I have found this rule in CC: Pacific (3.3.5). Can you confirm that's actually a rule in Europe?

That's a great catch. I did not notice that it was changed when Pacific came out, so yes, it would seem that in Europe, Leaders *can* carry a weapon with an encumbrance.

    Hi Patrick,
I bought »Combat Commander« in 2013 but never played an actual game. Currently I am trying to convince two of my buddies to give it a chance. Your video is an excellent introduction and I really hope that it helps us to get into the game (we are no seasoned wargamers at all). Thank you very much for all your efforts.
One question: In your video you said that a leader can carry any weapon as long as the weapon does not have a movement encumbrance. I wasn't able to find this part in the rules. Can you please tell me the rule number?
    Kind regards!

Not familiar with this game. No Brits in Europe?

They are in the Mediterranean expansion, which are Brits, Axis Minors, and Allied Minors.

new player. hard to follow, rambling and no examples of play. Play a round and explain as you go is better way to do this for a newbie like me. Couldnt understand your tutorial. I know this is a good game system. Just need better tutorials for newbies.

I'm sorry to hear that, David. Be sure to watch Part 2, which includes the actual gameplay example. Thanks for watching, though!

@@PatricksTacticsTutorials i tried, but it was 2 hours long? After 32 minutes got tired. Most adult attention spans for teaching is 45 minutes according to the experts. Isnt 2 hour way to long to learn a game? Cant it be taught faster? Especially for new people? Just my opinion. Sorry
