Definitely need some Soundgarden, the songs Beyond the Wheel live from Germany, Slaves & Bulldozers, Outshined or Jesus Christ Pose are great vocals. also some Temple of the Dog such as Say Hello 2 Heaven & Hunger Strike. Very cool reaction. Love PJ. ^_^
Beautiful day part was improv. Song officially continues when the band gets kicked back in.. they improv a lot back in their early days. Their third album was mostly written live while performing. They are known especially back then for being a band that can cover and just jam.
Google eddie vedder climbing scaffolding. He did this crap all the time. Freakin madman. One time he went to a thrift store in a toen where they were playing, and he bought a mannequin. He dressed it up as himself and hid it in the lights above the stage before the next show. During the show, he climbed up and ducked down on the catwalk. Then he threw the mannequin off the catwalk to scare the band. But everyone was going so crazy with the music, nobody even noticed! Eddie realized, "If i get hurt doing this crap, nobody's even going to know i need help!" Loved the video man. Thank you
This band is still phenomenal and their lives last between 2h30 and 3h. You can watch the south american ones with crazy crowds !!! I love those lives !!! Thanks again
For years after the performance he worried that the camera man hated him for doing that. He got to meet him years later and was relieved to know that he was never angry with Ed and that he was just trying to keep everyone safe. They had a good laugh over it. Ed as an older man now kinda cringes at all the climbing and stuff he did because he knows he’s lucky he didn’t get hurt.
That was a wah pedal it changes the tone and frequencies of the tone (Jimi Hendrix’s voodoo child a great example), a whammy bar changes the tension of the strings on the guitar. Two very different sounds and tools.
What about another Pearl Jam reaction? ♥️ Rearviewmirror- album version for the first listen and SNL 1994 live after that. 😁 I would love to see your reaction to this amazing song!!!
Alice in chains - Junkhead live singles party Temple of the dog - Say Hello to Heaven live (black and white) Soundgarden - Blow up the outside world Soundgarden - Beyond the wheel (1990)
check "release" from pearl jam the live from holland 1992 one, you'll see a different eddie from what you've seen so far. i think the studio version is better but everyone is better on the studio ha and if you want to check something different but dope, listen to "pushit" (saliva-live version) and/or "the grudge" (studio version, unfortunatly all the live versions have too much crawd noices :/) from tool. you wont be disappointed :)

@Czterdziestysiódmy Agree to disagree. The notes he hits at that concert in Germany are unmatched.
Soundgarden was there too, same festival. Afaik there is a quite famous still too from Eddy falling from the camera stand.
This one performance absolutely BLEEDS how the early 90s felt for music. You can feel the energy. The smell. The noise. It was incredible
Love this performance. 💗
Voodoo child at 2:45 is crazy
Just an all time CLASSIC!! Love Eddie!! Good old days!! Amazing performance!!

It's amazing Eddie survived the early shows. He would climb all over the lightning gear & venue. Such great shows in the early 90's.
IIRC the year after this one, in 1993, the frontman of Thelonious Monster tried to climb the lighting and broke his wrist.

Whammy is pronounced like ham hammy/ that is a wah wah pedal for controlling either the frequency higher or lower, whammy bar is for vibrato
One of the best by Pearl Jam ♥
Didn't you recognize the Jimmy H. in there (near the whammy pedal)
He's using a wah wah pedal. :)
