I was hanging around Liberty in the mid 1970's, during the battle with the USFS. It's so good to see that Liberty prevailed!

Family friends lived in the old Post Office in the early '60's. I worked in a canyon up the hill from the old Arastra that the Spanish used in the olden times. We got our water out of an old Spanish tunnel up that canyon. The next canyon north had been the location of a Military Fort that was lost to an avalanche... I was in my mid-teens at that time...

I used to go camping up there with my grandpa back in the 90's. He was good friends with Joe, who had a claim. After he passed, we spread his ashes in the mine with the red door. The one that caved in years before killing "Shorty." Anyone else know these stories?

SPENT CLOSE TO 20 YEARS MINING WITH MY FATHER IN LIBRTY AREA FROM LATE 70'S TO LATE 90'S. I WENT TO JOE'S FUNERAL. MY FATHER "NORM" AND HIM WERE VERY CLOSE FRIENDS. MY FATHER AND I ALSO KNEW JACK KIRSCH AND JORDINS. THERE WAS ALSO THE BINISCHES THAT HAD THE ROCK SHOP AND GEM SHOP ON HWY 97. ART WHO OWNED THE LIBERTY CAFE. ALSO, WHEN THEY HAD THE LITTLE GROCERY STORE THERE. WE HAD ALOT OF GOOD TIMES THERE. I ALSO REMEMBER THE GOLD MINING MEETINGS AND THE GOD SHOWS AT THE LIBERTY CAFE IN SUMMERTIME.

@@ericleben4361 I stopped by there a few weeks back, everything is overgrown now and the red door cave doesn't exist anymore. It was kinda bittersweet.

As a beginner at prospecting I will have to try my luck to find a wee bit of color there soon. Just have to find a good spot without claim jumping on someone's claim

@@petermccarthy8263 200 feet from center of highway "Scenic highway" but most of the claims are pre designation so it's still legally claimed and grandfathered in. Class C felony for claim jumping in WA.

There's a lesson here for all of us that call the United States our home . Liberty is not just a word to around , it is a right that our for fathers's fought for died for so that we today could have LIBERTY & FREEDOM our own will . I was born and rised in Washington State and I'm proud of the people of that little town, they fought for their town they fought for their Liberty. So to rest of us the fight for your rights that God gave us wrote down in the Constitution . That is a fight you can't turn you back to not ever because someone is waiting to take from you liberty . My name is Kenneth Boren this videos what the American spirt looks like for me Big Government Big Business could't beat the town of Liberty.
