Hi Trigger, Always learn something from watching your videos. As you au know, I am a beginner DIY. I am waitng for the temps to go down before I paint. A couple of questions painting silver metallic WA 59-926. Can I paint my truck in sections? Example Day 1-Roof, Fender tailgate. day 2-fender wells. day 3 All remaining unpainted truck? I have the time and would like to take the time to get it right. Planning to use Porphis 717 1.3 tip for base and clear. Anyway keep spraying and thanks for the tips.
@@hidesertdave6166 You can paint it in sections but I personally would do panels that are not going to really be adjacent on a front face. Like I would do the roof by itself, the hood by itself, the tailgate by itself but when it comes to anything on the side it might be best if you do the entire side in one shot, because there are so many different things that can change from one day to the next temperature, humidity, air pressure, gun technique, your effort and attention to what you're doing, all of these things can fluctuate when spring metallics and cause the color to change and if it's on a top surface like the hood, tailgate, hood there's a better chance of it not being noticeable because there is no adjacent panel that you can see from standing on the side.
Great stuff trigger. I was wondering how you keep the metallics laying down nicely when it’s a little smart repair bumper corner blow in. When you’ve not got much room for lots of paint and blending, generally just covering the repair then puffing it about. I’m new to the game so forgive me if this sounds a stupid question .
No stupid questions here my man. Everything is basically the same procedure just on a smaller scale. Are you asking about like a erally small repair? Even on the smallest jobs you still want to use a bigger tip 1.2 for those metallics. The small tips will give a slight difference in color. I think that's what you mean. Let me know if that's what you mean, if not give me more details and try to get a video up on it next week.
@@thetriggerman954 thanks trigger . Yes a really small repair when using a 1.0 or 1.2 tip. When blending I tend to feather the trigger and puff it about, I presume that will be laying it down dry ? Wasn’t sure if my spray out card wasn’t sprayed wet enough for the metallics to sit right, giving it a lighter shade ?. Will clear coat darken the paint a little ? . Hope I’m making sense here, new to the game so I might sound like I’m taking bollocks .

@@marcosbravo87 it's simply a base coat that is transparent You put that down to help with your blends It allows your metallics to lay down smooth and covers up any sand scratches that might be visible
I cant even begin to say how I understand this. Guess that's how it is when you spray in warm climates. Will say that water-borne paint does give you a little extra time for the metalics to lay out. That solvent dries fast as hell. Have you ever used a arch system in the booth? I'll try and send you a photo thru Instagram
I just got the message. What in the heck is that? Man looks like you're painting in a spaceship. Man I need that in my life 😂 is that a dryer or something?
@thetriggerman954 yea man it's a drying system. The booth is open on the end too no doors. The down draft is so strong that I can paint 4 bumpers different colors next to each other. So basically when I lay a coat down there are 3 buttons with different drying times. So spray. Hit button. Clean my wet on wet gun. Come back hit it again. Dry. Drop coat. Wash guns. Slam clear and done. It's incredibly fast but you gotta be too lol. I'll send some footage thru this week.

Or am I splitting hairs with all the other variables that come into play. The paint is PPG Deltron base coat clear coat that I will be using.
Me personally I would need a 1.4 in that gun. It's hot as hell in Florida and I like to move a little faster. 1.4 and a TE20 is the perfect set up for me with that gun. Some waterborne silvers go dark if you put it wet on first round, except those that are meant for 1 pass visit like axalta. That's not the case with solvent i see 🤔
So every silver is meant to spray a different way? Like each silver paint code has a certain wetness to spray with water base? 🤔 haven't heard that one before. Interesting 🤔
@@thetriggerman954 I meant like example PPG if u put it really wet on first pass it certainly is darker. Glasurit 90 line is like solvent so that does not go dark if I put it really wet on first round. @@Mika-zg7pq yea pressure matters how dark and light with solvents as well. But ok I get what you're saying now. Yea man every paint manufacturer has their data sheets how how they want you to spray. I think they all are pretty much the same like for me I spray this pro spray I've never sprayed it until I was started working here and I have no problems with it. 💪🏼
@@thetriggerman954 Thank you for your response
Another good video. What was your gun settings for base and clear?
Thank you man. Base 24 psi clear 30psi both full fluid and fan
I’m slacking brother missed this one lol
@@hillbillycustom1730 🥹
lol I hate plumbing. 😂
Trigger I am new to this world of pain ,can you tell me what is a wet bed 😢.?
@@TheDopeShow81 holy shit 😳🤯 man that's next level. Awesome
Trigga dropping that cell therapy .so you have all Aaas mustard and maynase it was 75 in my garage i got mad at the bastards give me slow with a silver i told them slow is best he looks at me and said its un common to use the slow . thanks for using me in todays video first time for everything people just learn from your mistakes😮😂 be willing to learn everyday
Ohh it was you 😂 see Trigger be keeping it real with these people. Hopefully you got that hood looking good the second time around. 💪🏼😎
Name of spray gun and setting for clear coat mr’ T man?
I call those people at the paint store behind the counter painters !!!
You call them painters? 🤔 Interesting
My man said. Do it right, or go be a plumber😂
🧑🏼🔧 get fat and show ya butt crack. 3 wrenches 1 pipe 🤠🤠🤠🤠
Some how I missed this video but that being said, question for you, I have a prolite with a 1.3 and a TE20 cap will that work for an complete overall paint job. It’s a 68 C3 and while I have been doing many small spray jobs over the past years just wondering what combo of tips with all those curves in your opinion will give me the best results? Or am I splitting hairs with all the other variables that come into play. The paint is PPG Deltron base coat clear coat that I will be using.
Me personally I would need a 1.4 in that gun. It's hot as hell in Florida and I like to move a little faster. 1.4 and a TE20 is the perfect set up for me with that gun. When it gets cooler out I would swap out to a 1.3 maybe grab you a 1.4 and try it out. Better to have it on hand and have the option in case you need it.
@@thetriggerman954
Greatly appreciated the quick response, and will get the 1.4! I am up NE Ohio and won’t be spraying until next spring most likely I just got poly primer on and now I’m sanding my life away…..😂👍🙏
@@poman8772 man I feel you on that. Well you have one of the best set-ups in my opinion can't go wrong. Keep me posted on the project 💪🏼
What psi / fluid setting would you use on an iwata lph400 for metallic basecoat? As you can tell Im a beginner as hell.
@@eddiegarcia9657 you'd have to get the purple cap, I haven't used my purple cap in a while but I believe it was at 13 psi and a drop coat around 7 psi. But definitely need that purple cap on the lph for metalics
Thanks for the advice, I will try that. Im enjoying the Awesome videos !
@@eddiegarcia9657 anytime bro. I'm glad you are enjoying the videos.
Wet bed is clear base right? I’ve never used a wet bed
Yes it is. I never used it until starting this channel. Seems it's a TH-cam thing so I had to get with the program. 🤷🏽♂️
@@thetriggerman954 might be worth a try. I need more training on tips and what that changes I have a 1.3 for my gun but I’ve never used it. I run a 1.4 year round but I have a booth that stays within 75 to 115 in the summer sometimes
That title to the video man brought me here 😂
🤣 glad you came by. Spray on brother 🤙🏼
G1u is a tricky color
Yes it's kicked my butt in the past. Not may people are familiar with that code.
@thetriggerman954 yea mine also ,alot of the Subaru colors are a pain in the ass
Waterbornes are certainly more complicated with light silvers, even pressure matters how dark or light it goes excluding few brands
@@Mika-zg7pq yea pressure matters how dark and light with solvents as well. But ok I get what you're saying now. Yea man every paint manufacturer has their data sheets how how they want you to spray. My friends spray water base and the only thing I ever hear them complain about is the time it takes to dry / flash even with fans. So glad I haven't had to switch to that stuff.
@@Mika-zg7pq so with the PPG let's say you put it on wet on your first coat... so even after a second and 3rd coat and drop coat that 1 coat of paint will change the color through all of the other 3 layers of paint over it? 🤔
Do you have a a recommendation for a plumbing school?😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Use that gun with that set up regularly bruh 😊😊😊
It's crazy how that is. Lol that's why there is no one size fits all. Thank you Mr Brown 💪🏼

I really don't use a wetnad just another step that's not really needed
You can't say that on TH-cam. Lol wet beds are a TH-cam thing lol
Not the temperature in your mouth,Hahahahahaha Hahahahahaha, I get all the products online now because every time I went into the Paint store they always told me the wrong stuff to get I don’t know why they do that??
Yeah man some people have some hot Azz breath 😜 man some of those paint store guys never been on the battlefield so they just go by 🤔 hmmm I don't know what the hell they go by lol some are very knowledgeable though. Roll of the dice 🎲🎲🎲

Tja in sweden its law fore waterborne IF you paint cars but not truck or industrialpainting howe the world spinningen sometimes!!!
What Trigger is saying is , don’t be a noob
Sometimes you look like Lou Bega and sometimes you dont. Had to get that off my chest it’s been months. I tried to let it go not happening.
That said I think people are struggling with even passes. 3rdly nobody gonna understand painting until you do it. Research is important though and you’re helping people. You cover reality and that’s just as important as the arithmetic side of it all.
Some paint reps are full of shit and some feel like they have to stick to their books and that’s fair I guess.
Lmao man I had to Google that name. 🙈🤣 that's my half brother 😉
I know what you're saying about them struggling with the passes. I'm just trying to get them to at least have a better chance by starting out with the right materials. You can't get anything right if you're set up to fail from the start. 💪🏼
