79 SERIES LANDCRUISER - WHY WE OWN THEM

  • Most of the things that can seem to be negatives are actually the reason we buy and own the 79 series LANDCRUISERS. They really are a unique vehicle in a marked flooded with dual cab utes. This is my take on the 79 and why I believe this is a piece of automotive history.

Couldn't agree more with what you said. The 7tee series is the hart and sole of Australia 🇦🇺 and has not changed since 1980. I love the simplicity, reliability and the fact that they are 💯% customisable to the individual who owns them.

Loved this video. We ordered our 79 series this week over in NZ. Hoping to get it by the end of the year. Has always been a dream to have one of these trucks. Looking forward to seeing how much better it tows over our 2018 Hilux

Hey buddy, firstly well said, secondly I think the whole point of getting a 70 series is not about what it does have, it is about what it doesn’t have which means endless options and Toyota reliability, for example you can still get a 10 seat, side facing 78 back in 2016 which wasn’t that long ago, also it doesn’t have all the fancy stuff which may fail on the track, everything is tested and proven.

I'm a patrol man but both patrols and LandCruisers are the benchmark 4wds imo only negative with a 79, not sure it was mentioned, is thier flex but ey rear locker in throw up a front wheel and your there anyways 😉

One of the biggest issues in this country is some people spend way to much time fighting people who own other brands instead of just getting over the fact people have different tastes and band together to fight tracks and access being closed as a group.

My main issue with the 79 series is the fact that Toyota bring it out requiring track correction to have the wheels aligned simply beggars belief.

Yeah you are right its a vehicle that has a lot of modify options but for that price you would think those upgrades would come with it .

It will be years before electric will be common, three reasons, cost, range and charge time.

We will have another choice in solid axle 4WD with the release of the Ineos Grenadier.
It has everything that the 70 series has missing particularly an automatic transmission.

There wont be a electric truck for the foreseeable future, lack of infrastructure in remote areas and the fact the F150 lightning can only go 160km with 2.8T on the back means the god old 79 will be around for some time yet.

Sucks how the rear leafs are low to the ground, that's kinda the only draw back

      @@cloudysky9991 Why?

    • @AP-ow5vu
      @AP-ow5vu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@cloudysky9991 For practical purposes it literally makes no difference in stock configuration whether the springs are slung on top of the axle or below it.
You could make the point you can put a larger leaf pack/GVM upgrade if they're located under the axle but now they're even more useless of road than they are from the factory. I would dare say the 70 series comes with a heavier leaf pack than a triton does and the wheelbase is different which is why one can carry a load better than the other.
If you are going to use a 70 series as a work vehicle they do a good job albeit they're overpriced, in the bush they're hopeless, depends what you want.

You are really only trying to justify the short comings and ignoring the fact that Toyota has taken you for a schmuck. They'll buy them anyway - is not really the point. There is no equivalent in that segment, so you buy them. As long as you keep buying them, they will keep building them as they are.
