An unforgettable show in Missoula, MT...1993,4,5,6??? Todd was wearing a white leather fringe jacket, playing/singing at an arms length from me. All 3 of them performed flawlessly...❤ A show I'll always remember! Truly talented group. While listening, I couldn't help but wonder, 'How do 3 guys sound sooooo good together?'
Many years and many shows. There have been a few opportunities over the years to sit down and chat but I have never seen him so open and forthcoming. Nice to see this quiet guy open up and let himself be seen.
By far the best interview of my favorite artist of all time! Way to go Craig! I was so impressed by your honesty and thought-provoking questions. As always, Todd is such a rare gem of a human being. Truly impressive and inspirational. I'm floating on a cloud. (At least for the remainder of the day. Lol!)
Being from Canada, I had never heard of this band until about five years ago. I heard Joe Bonamassa mention big head, Todd and the monsters and what a good band they were since then I listen to them almost every day, but I haven’t seen any dates in Canada yet. Still waiting. Great interview thanks.
I discovered this band about 8 months ago- UNREAL ❤ i live in Sydney Australia and unfortunately the majority of music listeners down under have never heard of BHTM. They don't know what they are missing out on. I listen to BHTM every day. Best live band on earth.❤
Some wonderful questions with really thoughtful answers. But this hit in the feels: “During the time you’re working out you are loving yourself from the core.” Ahhh….. I so wish a book or a documentary could be a thing for you guys one day. So many interesting things to learn about one of the most endearing bands.
Craig, I love your interviews and am now subbed. It’s great to see Todd! I worked the Beartrap Festival in Casper that Todd headlined and as it worked out I had a gig in another town that night and had to leave the mountain before he played. All my friends raved about them of course which saddened me because I missed it. I completely respect Todd for not making a video of Bittersweet. The theater of the mind is much more satisfying. Hey Todd, I’m 67 years old and still writing, playing and recording. Keep going buddy, it can get even better.
Very good interview. The first time I heard Broken Hearted Savior & Bittersweet, I was hooked. I went right out & bought the CD. So good to see you, Todd. .
I was a fan at Broken Hearted Savior, but Beautiful World was the album that really told me that Big Head Todd is one of the most underrated bands out there. I'm excited that they are coming out with a new album, and constantly go back and listen to key tracks they have made that are standing the test of time.
Excellent interview!! I have been a huge fan since the day I heard BHS…your questions and comments were spot on. Time stopped for me from those first three notes. Thanks for this interview! I will be making a pilgrimage to Red Rocks this year to check that off my list. Oddly the best band in the world is Rush followed closely by Big Head Todd. Glad I found this!
I can understand why Todd resisted making a video of Bittersweet. (Some music videos are just plain stupid) On the other hand, I LOVE watching them play Bittersweet at Red Rocks 2010. Todd looks back at the drummer and smiles as the song begins and ppl start cheering. I Love Todd. Thanks so much for this interview. It was inspiring! ❤
Just stumbled upon your podcast, and was absolutely jazzed over the interview. Good darn program. Todd Mohr's bio is quite impressive and you shared an awesome conversation. You've got a new subscriber. Thanks!
Todd.. where did the song Glorious Full moon come from and when was it created?? Heard it for the first time at your concert at HOB in cleveland, OH this past year. Please get a recording of this song out there on apple music or a couple youtube videos of it.. Great song.. Only one youtube recording out there from arizona, where sound quality not great.. Can't find it on any of your albums.. Thanks for the great music over the years.. from a longtime fan.
A guy named Brad Jersak(speaking for Jesus) talks about being self-giving, radically forgiving and a compassionate lover of people. Sadly, for most of us, those qualities come later in life but nothing brings more fulfillment in my mind. "Dealing with your brain's resistance to helping your body." Never heard it expressed that way, nice.)
At 34 minutes TPM responds to the question Why is BHTM more successful now than ever. I can tell you why. They tour every year, are humble, have serious skill, play a great mix of music and respect everything they play including hits they play every. single. time they tour. They respect the music and they respect the business and they respect their fans. That is why we keep going. I go every time they are within a couple hours of where I live. They make my life better. I wish they would do another Jamaica resort gig. It was insanely expensive, but I was ready to save up and be insanely frugal for a long time in order to be able to go the second time (which was cancelled). Not much would be more therapeutic for me than being able to see BHTM that close and that often, in such a great environment. It's selfish of me, but there I am. And yeah. Nothing but extraordinary trauma (respect to those who have experienced that) is harder than divorce - at least for someone who loves and cares about people. I've been thought a lot like most folks, and yeah, divorce and the events leading up to it was the hardest thing. Man. Rough.
Good stuff guys! I have become aware of BHT from playing with some much younger cats than myself. We cover lots of their stuff I am playing bass on it we do Broken Hearted Stranger and we have played it for a few yrs and I found out it was a BHT tune! Love it. Anyway digging this from Durango Co area!
Tom Waits has the same sense of not selling out his music that TPM discusses about refusing to do a video for Bittersweet at around 39 minutes. Waits still stands by that. He has sued soundalikes - and won.
I can't.....Todd speaks of Dylan and Springsteen and and interviewer says....I never understood dylan till I was older......then Hey I want to ask you a question....WTF????? I want to hear Todd talk about Dylan....
