I agree! Aside from mistreating their idols everything else is good, considering that not only does their idols being visuals, they all have the talent. I hope the agency will do something about treating the idols tho and if that is fixed SM will be the ideal company tbh.

For once it actually wasn't Cube's fault. The director stopped working with Cube and took his song with him. He gave it to Izone, probably using CLC as a demo
La Vie En Rose would not have been CLC's breakthrough. It was a good song but if having a good song would instantly make you famous CLC would've already been famous and so would hundreds of other groups. Produce 48 hype made La Vie En Rose blow up the way it did.
Thing is the song became a hit because it's Izone. They literally came out of a very famous tv show so they already got the big fanbase to buy tons of their cd and stream the digital. It's unfortunate but the reality is there are so many amazing songs out there sung by really talented artists which is way better than top 10 songs you hear on the charts but those songs never sell simply because the singer/group is not famous. Clc for example had so many good discography like black dress which is my personal fave and dare i say even better than la vie en rose but they never became big hits. What i'm trying to say is, a song can sell well simply because of who sings it.
Naah I like the Iz*One version better and I'm so glad they did the song. The music video that came out with that song is so gorgeous and aesthetic and made the song for me. Not to mention there was so many visuals in that group and they had a feminine look that really suited the concept well and worked out well for them. Iz*One was all about the elegant concept while CLC was all over the place. Plus they did girl crush with Hobgoblin, which was really good - they should've stocked to making more songs like that and in the girl crush concept

Most of the songs are demos. Demos have lyrics so that the buyer has an idea how the song sounds. Demos are never final version which is why the lyrics are weird sometimes. Just listen to The Boys English version its a mess.
Well in my opinion Psycho lyrics on the demo are better but it's also of how you like it Psycho demo shows you a more toxic relationship and the Red Velvet one is more "soft" in a way to say it and maybe that's why i like the demo more but obviusly i really like the Red Velvet one

delaney jane (the singer and writter of the demo) said that she wrote this song with some friends 4-5 years ago, then it was selected for a tv series and AFTER That it was selected for irene & seulgi debut!

SM actually never discourage their artists to write and compose a song but to be able to be choose as a title track is another story, it have to match with the concept and beat the song written by professional songwriters.

Kangta , jonghyun, lay have participated in writing music in all 3 generations. And rappers have 90% written their verse.
Sm artists produce and compose their own songs but sadly they post them on their individual SoundCloud. For example taeyong from Nct has so many self produced and written songs on SoundCloud which are all masterpieces. Like he could do a solo debut album with all his tracks. His feature with seulgi is also co written by seulgi
that doesn't seem to be their focus as a company and that's fine to me. i don't really care if my faves don't write/produce their own stuff. it's more of a bonus than anything. what i would like is that in the rare instances where an sm idol does self produce/write, they would promote the songs better. it's almost like they're scared of the songs being popular. with the exception of jonghyun, no sm artist has really gotten the spotlight for their own work. i don't necessarily want music show performances, but getting the songs on spotify would be a good first step.

I mean the English versions are cool cuz we can understand what they're saying but ultimately, the Korean version almost always have better lyrics. Monster and Psycho for example.
Most of the songs are demos. Demos have lyrics so that the buyer has an idea how the song sounds. Demos are never final version which is why the lyrics are weird sometimes. Just listen to The Boys English version its a mess.
Well in my opinion Psycho lyrics on the demo are better but it's also of how you like it
Psycho demo shows you a more toxic relationship and the Red Velvet one is more "soft" in a way to say it and maybe that's why i like the demo more but obviusly i really like the Red Velvet one

Someone above even mentioned how the lyrics usually are just place holders and often times don't even make sense, just gives a general direction. It's not that deep to "discredit the original writers." 🙄 The original writers still get credit regardless.

Whenever a song is full recorded but not officially released, its counted as a demo. This is not an uncommon thing to happen in the music industry. Artists record tons of songs that eventually end up on the chopping block and then later given to someone else.

SM actually never discourage their artists to write and compose a song but to be able to be choose as a title track is another story, it have to match with the concept and beat the song written by professional songwriters.

Literally people need to check all credits section. Sm idols participate in songs production or atleast lyrics. Title tracks are rare. But many bsides production, they participate in it. And people forget hope the legendary smtown encore song is written by h.o.t. kangta. They always encouraged to participate in music. Kangta , jonghyun, lay have participated in writing music in all 3 generations. And rappers have 90% written their verse.
Sm artists produce and compose their own songs but sadly they post them on their individual SoundCloud. For example taeyong from Nct has so many self produced and written songs on SoundCloud which are all masterpieces. Like he could do a solo debut album with all his tracks. His feature with seulgi is also co written by seulgi
that doesn't seem to be their focus as a company and that's fine to me. i don't really care if my faves don't write/produce their own stuff. it's more of a bonus than anything. what i would like is that in the rare instances where an sm idol does self produce/write, they would promote the songs better. it's almost like they're scared of the songs being popular. with the exception of jonghyun, no sm artist has really gotten the spotlight for their own work. i don't necessarily want music show performances, but getting the songs on spotify would be a good first step.
