I've been using a Thermacell portable ever since they came on the market to banish Florida's mosquitos when camping. It is the only thing that keeps them away when camping in our swamps. Then Thermacell came out with the Mini Mosquito Repellent Lantern. It provides 4 hours of protection for a 15 x 15 foot area. It also provides a nice defused light for the area. I really like either one and the reason is because the mosquitos don't like it and they stay away. Buddies that have camped with me got one for themselves when they returned home.
Hi Karl. Be interested to hear how it does in the open air. I've used similar mains powered units on foreign holidays over the years, and they certainly seem to work indoors! ATB👍
It takes a little while to get going but it seems to do a good job. Last time I was out I left it running all night. The pad was totally dry but there were no midges about when we got up at prime time. After I turned it off they started reappearing again about an hour after.
@@MoreThanJustaCleaner sounds good then. I'll have to read up on the way it works. It's probably more comfortable to use than the various face nets etc.
@@TheWalkingKev A few years ago we had floods and as a result a proper mosquito plague. Thanks to the Thermacell, I was still able to photograph wildlife in these areas for hours. Once started, after a few minutes I had the feeling that I had an invisible protective shield around me.
@@markus_semmler cheers Markus, that is great to know. Sounds like a really solid investment so if I end up doing camps in areas with lots of midges I'll definitely look at investing in it.

Yeah they're pretty good :)

I have used this outdoors never indoors. If it's windy it's not an issue cos that keeps them away. It does seem to work at keeping them back.
Never heard of these, nice little review Karl.
Cheers John 👍😊
💖👍 What a nifty gaget. About how large of an area does it cover?
20sq metres is the claim...
How effective have you found it?

Okay, this proves mine is defective right out of the box.
How come? What's it doing? Or not doing?
Turn it on, mosquitoes gone!
Ha! Is that your slogan? :D
