Gintama is a comedy anime that has action serious moment. At first it was purely comedy that full of references, but because of that whenever there's a slightly serious moment it will make you hype. And then you get to serious arc that didn't just make you hype, it make you emotional too.
If you watch Gintama watch from episode 3 because the first 2 episodes is a filler that many people don't like it

@@kunilsen2519 my brother and I watched the filler episodes at first. He actually suggest the show but didn't like the episodes 😥. After some time I started at 3, told him to start it again but he declined. Still today after seeing me laughing so much , he still refuses to even start.😭 This is only my sad story. Gintama is Great and you can see as myanimelist has some many first spots. Not top but in first 20 ranks it has 6! No other Anime has this! 🌞

this show is the funniest shit ever with trolls and parodies from a lot of famous anime and movies, games and it gets even crazier than grand blue anime which is peak comedy xd.
I finished gintama last year and it has become my favorite show of all time. I highly recommend watching it

Gintama is a comedy show in general but when it gets serious it gets serious and the fights are some of the best of the best
don't expect to understand the story by watching gintama, each episode of the anime has its own story and includes many references such as one piece, naruto, bleach and others. But when this anime brings up a serious arc story, the story will be really emotional and memorable. I recommend watching it

Gintama is the best! The best parody, the best jokes, the best breaking the 4th wall in the same time what the best emotional arcs, stories, epic fights and many scenes with tears.
Gintama is a GOAT anime! It is the kinda show that is not for everyone but is still recognized as great. Extremely loved by people who watch it because you get so attached, but it is a slow-moving anime if you are looking for action or a deep plot with not a lot of budget behind it. It does have amazing plot that is subtly set up, but it's mainly a comedy.
I doubt you will react to it cause Gintama does not tend to average a lot of views, but I highly recommend you give it a chance. If you are mildly amused or even enjoy the comedy from the first few episodes, this is the show for you.

The first time I watched this for some reason I absolutely lost my shit at the "Magical Banana!" for some reason... Like tears running down my face "I can't breathe" pishing myself laughing!😂
Gintama spans all genres of anime. It parodies just about every other anime out there and does not shy away from disgusting crude jokes, but the writing is genius it is often the most insane random comedy, even if you know a plot twist is coming you will still be surprised. But then occasionally it out of no where shifts gears and is the most insane serious and amazing action anime without missing a beat.
i recently watched the entirety of this show and it became my new favorite anime. i'm sad i didn't watch it until this year but i'm so glad i did. i cried laughing.

This show is easily my favorite anime, the mix of comedy and the absolutely incredible main story will literally make you cry at times, its so good. If you ever get to watch it, on or off camera you won't regret it.
If you plant to watch gintama, you should start for episode 3. The first 2 is special episode for anime adaptation as well as easier paycheck for va in case the show would get cancelled. (Its contain many characters n dynamic that aren't introduce well)

Go into it expecting a comedy and be prepared for a slice of life episodic structure. The character building is unique, lot's of fourth wall breaking and I've never had such an intense and touching bond with 2D characters and their life stories.

Gintama is an epic title that you should see! Few works can give you such a wide range of emotions (first of all, it's a hilarious comedy that's not afraid to make fun of everything, EVERYTHING), but there are also very serious dramatic arcs that can make you cry. But I will give you some advice: if you decide to watch this series, don't start with the first episode, watch it from the third one, because the first two episodes are just an advertisement for the series, they have nothing to do with the main plot (the adaptation of the first chapter of the manga is the third episode).

The show is on the GOATs list for a reason. One of the funniest shit ever with mad shounen arcs. But it is DENSE. It's as if someone made a love letter to the whole Japanese anime/manga culture(expecting you to know all those), with parodies, giggles, unhinged humor, and also legitimately some of the best entries in multiple genres. It's one of a kind.
But the remark about "knowing them all" isn't a joke.
