Take it from a 6th year MBBS student from Fudan, I will say knowing Chinese language is a MUST although the program is taught in English, the patients don't speak English. If you dont know any Chinese, you are wasting your time during clinical years. Of course you could apply oversea clerkship, but if you could read and speak Chinese, you could do so much more compare to other countries as medical students.I am willing to share my experience as well, feel free to contact me.
Teo YiXiang hey, i am an applicant for the same course. I have a bunch of questions, so do you mind sharing your fb or vchat or whatever? i could really use some help right now.
I'm an alumnus of the Fudan MBBS program, and a graduate of the first batch. First of all, the program has its pros and cons, but in the end, if you put in the work, it can get you to almost anywhere you want to work (as a doctor or in another profession). As Ludwig mentioned, you can choose to do much of your final year overseas, and this was something I took advantage of. Fudan has links with many universities overseas, and this definitely helped in arranging some placements. I speak Mandarin Chinese fluently, and this helped me greatly in communicating with patients during clinical years. There have been graduates who were not of Chinese descent, and have graduated and done well(two that come to mind are now working in the UK). Besides having alumni in the UK, where I am also based, there are graduates in the US, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Tanzania. Others are working towards Australia. Some other countries let you work there without additional exams if you work in the UK or US first (e.g., Australia and New Zealand). Of course, there are some who have chosen to stay and work in Shanghai as well. Shanghai was an amazing city to live in, and I look back on my MBBS years fondly. One important non-academic reason for going to an international program - you will become friends with people from all over the world, from every continent. Your worldview will broaden, and you'll have couches to crash on in many different countries :)
hi Conway, could you tell me a bit more about your experience in the final year of mbbs, particularly in organising internships in other countries. would you mind if I get in touch with you to ask you questions about your experiences in general? I have been accepted to study mbbs in Fudan, but still in the process of making my decisions. am I able to get your email address? thankyou so much!

This video is that I was looking for. Thank you. 1. I wonder if there are any Koreans in MBBS course. 2. And are there only people who grew up in the English language or study abroad for a long time? I am going to apply for it next year but I grew up and studied in korea My toefl score is 95 & hsk 5level, but I am worried that I am not proficient in English and Chinese conversation. Would it be difficult to pass if the actual English ability was not good, apart from the score? Please understand my poor English. Thank you
There are many koreans in Fudan MBBS program. And yes a lot of MBBS students only speaks English. Chinese student would love to make friends with you if you reach out for them first, and it is a truly fastest way to pick up some Chinese to be honest.
Hey, love your video, I just took IB in NOV 2017 and totally missed the opportunity to sign up this summer (Jun 2018), since my scores weren't high enough to get me into hong kong mbbs program i was wondering whether there is a minimum score for entering fudan university. I have heard that uni such as Edinburgh university will accept students as low as 34. Also i speak fluent chinese and take chinese A for my IGCSE. is there a chance for me to get in?
