Created to compete with local and national grocery store chains. This location closed only after 3 years of business.

You made the comment that because of a few people stealing. This was the reason why this particular store closed. Well, I worked at a Walmart for 4 years. One year as a LP...not only were the customers stealing, but so were some employees.. One night 100 PlayStations turned up missing. Along with other items through that year. Theft had improved from 18% to 7%. Which was a major improvement. But that following year it sky rocket to 26%. So it's not always the customers. It's a combination of both.

I go to my local Walmart Neighborhood Market all the time. I just went there tonight. I actually prefer going there instead of the big Walmart, and it's only 5 minutes from my house.
In Knoxville TN East Town Mall was shutdown because of a handful of kids that were dropped off by parents during the summer, given $20 to spend on food or whatever they wanted and who would shoplift to keep themselves entertained. The parents used the mall as a babysitter during the summer months.
Greetings from Vegas. Jealous of how beautiful S. Carolina looks. Our neighborhood Walmarts do very well here and are well stocked. I miss Publix from Florida…they have amazing subs.
I drove on this stretch of road for the 1st time this past Friday and noticed this closed down location. 3 short years open too. Crazy!!

Walmart has closed a lot of stores in the past 3 years. Walmart says its because of theft. While I do believe theft has something to do with at least some of the Walmart store closings like the ones closed in Chicago and Portland . However the other closings I think Amazon might have something to do with at least some of the other store closings. I've read in a few online articles that Amazon is starting to tare into some of Walmart's market.
A Tare is a measure of weight.
That back utility room looked like a online pickup area with an automatic door for staff to bring stuff to cars parked in that side lot.
Hey there! The Bush River Mall was there for decades. Much, much longer than the Walmart. Bush River Mall was a staple for highschool kids back in 1977 when it opens and remained open until the final Target left around 2000. The Walmart closed because of the incessant increase in crime in the area. Theft and shootings on top of the list. My ex husband grew up in the area and his parents lived in one of the neighborhoods across the street until they passed in 2021.
This was a neighborhood store on Broadway River Road north of I-20. The one located where the Bush River Mall had been back in the 80s was a full Walmart that was open for longer and closed years earlier.
We have a neighborhood market in Knoxville TN near my place. Compared to a regular Walmart it’s so much easier to get in and out quickly

The Walmart Neighborhood Markets in the upstate have changed the green color scheme to blue I believe. I personally got frustrated shopping there because they didn't always have the products on the shelf i got used to and ended up having to go to Food Lion or Publix anyway. IMO I think Walmart probably has discovered they do a better job of running the SuperCenter concept than trying to run a traditional small supermarket.
I too have noticed them stop selling things I used to get there. Even their own store brand stuff.

They only sometimes do. I don't think I have ever seen a Canadian Wal-Mart with a gas station, but most Costco nearly always has one.

We have at least 2 the city of Chicago that closed with no more than a weeks notice to the public. Not sure if employees knew or not and a few more in the suburbs. These closed this year not in 2019
I’ve heard of WNM, never been to one though. Walmart also had another chain of stores called Marketside in the metro Arizona area that operated from 2008 to 2011.

The interior photos of the Walmart Neighbourhood Market at the end looks about the same size as my local Tesco and Asda stores in my hometown, still looks big inside though. Love the invisible man skit btw, that was funny hehe! 😆 Judging by the monitor in the gas station store, the screen had probably froze or the camera stopped working.
I love the Neighborhood Markets cause of them being small. Hate that they don’t have the things I need…except for the Supercenters.
My neck of the woods still has a Walmart Neighborhood Market.
Several stores are closing for high theft. Walgreens and CVS too.

BTW, that wasn't a utility room with the automatic door, that was Pickup! (OPD backroom) and those spots you saw where were customers would park for their orders.

Really interesting to see that they left the fixtures in there, same with the carts, scooters and that giant banner every store had saying a state voted Walmart a low price leader. (3:32) You really don't see an abandoned Walmart of any type regularly, especially with signs and fixtures inside still. Walmart must still own the property.
I know of lots of abandoned Walmarts throughout Richland, Lexington, and Orangeburg to counties here in SC. Sometimes someone will open a new business there.
I guess you could say that high prices are the expected norm for groceries lately, at least we have No Frills and a few other grocery stores here in Ontario that can save you money if you want to do your own bagging.

We got an abandoned heb in Georgetown Texas. (a new one opened up across the street replacing it, it's nice)
Here's an Idea one of these times you find an abandoned place see if there's another one that's not abandoned, looks just like the abandoned and mix them together for a time travel video.

The Walmart neighborhood market here in town was was only around for year and then Dollar General took over that location.

Oddly, we actually have a "blue" neighborhood market in my city. It was originally green, then they remodeled it and turned it blue. It's still a neighborhood market... The other locations are green like this one and a similar setup.
That security footage at the gas station cracked me up. I bet it's spent so much time recording that one blank spot that that image is now just burned into the screen and movement doesnt change it. Or the program is frozen

He said that store was only open three years? Back in the 1970s in my hometown, A&P built a brand new store only to close it six months after it opened!

The mistake wal mart made is going all self check so they dug them selves in a hole pretty much
I've been in one a couple times but it's always been the same one since that's the closest Walmart to where my brother is stationed at

the spots by the pharmacy are not for employees but are they curbside pickup and that door is the room where they store all the peoples groceries they ordered on the Walmart app.

I don’t think Walmart is closing underperforming stores I think they just set ridiculously outcomes for income for stores. They expect these smaller store to make almost as much as SuperCenter. Many do but some don’t.
Only reason I like the neighborhood market more because I can get in and out of it faster

Also why did this location close? Just not profitable or high theft? Walmart seems to do pretty well overall. Like the opposite of Sears!
This is weird. I live in the Charleston area and there are at least three Neighborhood Markets. One of them is done in this style. The other two are the flip side of this.

This was Walmart store in Columbia is lastly 3 years. how this Walmart store closes it's doors way too soon?
when i used to live in dallas, around the lake Highlands area, there used to be a neighborhood walmart behind the 7 eleven. i don't have too many memories from that place because i was only 4 at the time but they eventually shut it down because it was apparently underperforming. it was really inconvenient because it was the only Walmart that was nearby at the time so we had to go all the way to Garland just to do our grocery shopping until they eventually built two new walmarts kinda nearby. they're still standing to this day.
That was the first neighborhood market to ever close down it opened in 2002 and closed in December of 2008 but I am not sure if this was the first or the one on E 30th in Indianapolis
@@IceTheFanDude2379 i remember always driving by a neighborhood walmart that was around ross avenue in dallas. i don't remember ever seeing it operating. it was abandoned for a while and i think it was rebuilt into a sam's club. not sure, i haven't been in that area in over 6 years
That one opened In 2012 and closed in 2016 it got converted into a Sams club NOW they kept the exterior shell and the building sd a while but just renovated it
Walmart is Now owned by Samantha Walton She regained control by buying 64%of Walmart Stock and forced the other group to surrender the company She is the New CEO of Walmart (Great Grand Daughter of Sam Walton) She is restoring all of Sam's original operating values and all Walmart locations are being evaluated for profitability and under performing locations are being CLOSED and inventory transferred to open locations without liqudation sales.
The stores that are closed are left intact with all fixtures and equipment until final disposition is decided once the decision is made to NOT reopen the location a FIXTURE RECOVERY TEAM & Walmart Transportation will arrive and dismantle the equipment & fixtures & carts and supplies the inventory was removed the day after closing by the stocking crew of the closed location

I am guessing there are a couple of logical explanations for the security camera monitor..
Either the image is burnt-in from being static for so long or it is on a looped playback, instead of recording.
