Inside Miami Beach: Parties, Shootings And A Loss of Control

  • Who would have thought there would be so much drama at one of the best beach communities in the USA?
Aww south beach. This place is off the freaking hook. It’s as loud and fancy as you’ve heard it was. You could do an entire hour about this place. Today, it’s very much become a rowdy party spot, and there’s a lot of people who have an opinion on that. It hasn’t always been like this. But that’s the nature of what’s happening in Miami Beach these days.
Miami Beach is a 9-mile long barrier island just off the coast of Miami proper. We’re going to see the whole island - all three neighborhoods - north beach, mid beach, and yes, a lot of south beach. Each part of the island is very different from one another.
South Beach is where we’ll spend a big portion of this video. That’s because there’s a lot to talk about. Mid beach is much more chill and family friendly. It’s a nice place to be. The north end of Miami Beach is mostly fancy homes.
But it’s the South Beach parties that are the talk of the town. Or, should i say parTIES. Cause this place is off the chain these days. It’s so hoppin down here now that locals are asking the city to shut it down.

As a black dude I can tell you that when I moved here from NYC in 2018 I used to enjoy the craziness of south beach during the holidays. That feeling lasted about a year , now you couldn’t pay me to go hang out on the main strip especially during any holiday. The last time I was there it was for 4th of July 2021 and I felt disgusted. People treat the city like shit with trash everywhere, shooting guns in the air, and overall leading to everyone being punished for these idiots with no life and their selfishness.
The main issue is the people causing all the drama aren’t from here. They hop on a cheap spirit flight, share one room at a hotel, maybe rent a nice car just to ride around drunk the entire night. I think the only way to get it to stop is Jack prices up, the curfews and extra police the city has tried is a temporary solution.

I am a Miamian and no self respecting Miami resident goes to South Beach by choice. For beaches we either go to Ft Lauderdale or more north, or go to the west : Naples, Bonita Beach, Marco Island, etc. Its so ghetto in South Beach and Downtown Miami. I'll never understand why tourists have it down as a must see when they come to south Florida. I'll defend my city with any foreigner if they ever talked bad about Miami but I must say, its far from the glamor they show on TV. That's not real! Lol . at this point I have a love hate relationship with Miami and Florida as a whole.

Being a native Miamian, I found it very interesting to hear the way Miami Beach was described in this video; especially, the use of Mid-Beach. The northern parts of the beach does have more than just homes, but it is mostly residential; great Beaches, also! South Beach is mostly tourist and Miami Dade County residences that's aren't Miami Beach locals. No one from Miami actually go to South Beach on non eventful days. What is being called Mid Beach; which is really just Miami Beach, is the actual beach that I would say locals use. I personally like this beach and Haulover Beach, which is the northern part of the area. I think this is a good look at the beach as a whole though.

We‘ve been to Miami regularly with the first time being in 1989. Back then it was a retirement spot which had a very relaxed atmosphere. We saw a lot of construction on the Art Deco district that year.
In the years later South Beach was just magic. Every evening of our holidays we went to the News Cafe where a mix of interesting people were having a good time. It really felt a lot like Miami Vice.
In the early 2000s things seemed to have changed to be much more commercial, however still being pleasant with a nice vibe and we always felt safe with our young kids.
We’ve just been in Miami Beach again this April and were very disappointed what has happened to South Beach. The magic feeling is almost gone and it’s just a stupid noisy party. We felt safe and it’s still beautiful, but somehow it’s a different place now. Where did the old stylish South Beach go? And News Cafe - the iconic restaurant on Ocean Drive - has been closed. Looking at recent reviews before closing its quality seemed to had changed to the worse. It’s really sad - but still it’s a nice place for holidays when you read Google Maps reviews before going out for dinner there.

I've seen things like this happen in other cities where I lived. At first the party street is real cool for a a few years and then it goes downhill. I think that some of the businesses are to blame. I notice that the business flavor changes. It starts with chain stores but then locals start opening cheap pizza joints, smoke shops, sneaker stores, etc. So it doesn't really cost that much to handout down there anymore.
This brings in a whole different type of crowd ... very young and very urban.
I work with several party promoters from time to time and they have gone to a strict 30 and over for their events. They don't get the perfect upscale crowd but it looks like more than half of the trouble makers are gone just by raising the age.

@@mike8449 what I am trying to imply is that Nelson Mandela was no hero and he destoryed a once prosperous first world nation and turned it into a crime infested dangerous third world shit hole. That's what I"m implying.

Everybody wants to come down before the total island of Miami Beach is underwater, or at least partly. "Freedom?"

I’m from St. Petersburg Florida and me and a few my buddies were just down there for a festival and went out to South Beach one night….insane to say the least but pretty fun!

My niece lives in South Beach. She hates spring break when she and other residents batten down the hatches and stay in. They have complained to city officials about the antisocial and dangerous behaviors. But nothing improves.

I was there 1999 to 2003 the best years south had to offer, very European vibe with a South American feel.
But now has been hijack and rundown . The worst is that almost every cool city in the USA is been attacked by this behavior. Cruise ship, themed parks , anywhere that has a cool venue is been trash-down. Is part of the new America.

In the very early 1970's I went to a gay club in Miami Beach, and EVERYONE was gorgeous and well dressed. The women were all beautiful and and men handsome. They all seemed to drive up in white Cadillac convertibles
