Information for those who are concerned about safety of receipts papers: Toxic BPA thermal paper used for printing receipts has been banned in Europe since 2020. Hopefully, its use will be banned in the rest of the world soon. It’s easy to check if the paper has BPA. To identify these papers, try scratching the printed side. If the scratch leaves a dark mark, the paper contains BPA and it’s not safe.
It's great that BPA (and hopefully BPS) treated paper has been banned in Europe. No such ban has been enacted in the U.S. While the use of BPA has decreased from over 90%, it is still 80%. Each state enacts its own laws so it is taking an extremely long time to get rid of BPA. Even if it is 'only a problem' for the retail workers, I remind everyone that retail workers are people, too. That is why it is up to each of us to call out the use of receipts wherever we see it, from the retail level to YT and any other U.S.-based media that touts even more use (by hobbyists) of receipts that contain endocrine-disrupting chemicals linked to health issues including reproductive problems and cancer.

Love all the ideas Dragana. 🥰 I've been coffee dying all my "junk'" mail and register receipts for the last few days, have another box still to do, but will stop when it gets too cold to hang on the clothesline to dry, lol. I think adding some color to the receipts will look awesome 💜💜💜 My siamese twin avocado tree grew over a foot this summer, the other didn't survive over the winter but I tried to bring it back to life to no avail 😧 Will finish repotting the last couple of houseplants, then the avocado tree, it needs to be pruned but need to google to see if fall or spring is best, as if it grows another foot or so it'll be hitting the living room ceiling, lol. 🌱🪴🌱 Thanks for sharing 💜💜💜

Gorgeous! I am always looking for new ideas to use up receipts, I usually paint them with acrylics. I wouldn’t have thought to try watercolor, though. I also like to use calculator paper, it doesn’t have the thermal coating that contains the BPA; might have to get both out for a play! 😂. Great project, thanks for sharing; take care! ❤❤❤
Your videos feel like Christmas. Everything is a wonderful surprise. Thanks a lot! I personally paint my receipts. Often. Weird? I am so used to that that to me it is actually weird when creative people use… new paper. Like common, why, what is different/cool in mass-produced goods? In my preoccupations with receipts for some reason I use only acrylic paints. I should definitely try watercolors as you showed. And I like to paint on the actual receipt side (broken text on backgrounds enriches). Other takeaways: home-made washi tape, varnishing dried plant onto receipts. I also just tried embossing several layers of receipts and dry-brushing them after that - super fun!

Omg , I've got a million receipts that i usually just make arty borders with, Another way to use them! Our receipts are shiny on the printed side and porous on the back, which would be the better side. I think its a great idea because the receipts would usually get put on the trash or recycling. What a fun idea! I have been wondering what I might do with old receipts besides burn them up. I will try painting some, and maybe do both sides to cover up any payment information (or I could cut that part off). Thank you! Love the story of the avocadoes growing once you stopped trying! I have done lots of carving of the pits; I let them dry for about 3 days, then peel off the skin and use a small blade to carve words or moons and stars and hearts.

@@Saacibo Oh, I bet the avocado pits make great cat toys! My kitties used to play with small pinecones! I did paint some receipts last week, using watercolors, acrylics, and latex house paints! For some I ironed the unpainted side onto freezer paper to cover up the print; this made the papers curl a lot. Others, I painted the back side. Made a couple of tags, book marks, a pouch and covered two tiny journals with painted receipts! I think I need to varnish them, though, as the paint got a bit rubbed off as I was working. I wish I could share photos here! 🙂
I pickle grapes with hot peppers... It is really tasty. When it comes to avocados, I don't do anything other than, when I get one I just put it straight into dirt... Just make sure you plant it feet down. Water once a week and within couple of weeks i have plants growing, no fussing what so ever... I also water with banana peel water... I store my banana peels into 2L jar full of water... Let this sit on a counter for about 2 weeks. Than mixture is a concentrate. I use it to water 50-60 plants. I also water my plants in a sink. One a month give all your indoor plants a good soak, until dirt is drenched, but make sure all the water leaves the pot, before putting them back in their place... I have created a forest in my house using this method. Plants I currently have are spider plants, snake tongue, philodendron (the crawling type), dieffenbachia, palm tree and many others... I hope this helps someone out there to take care of their plants... my grandma taught me things, long time ago and it has worked incredible well. I had no idea that receipt paper had BPA in it. Unless you’re eating it, what is the harm? If it’s a big concern to you, couldn’t you use calculator paper? It’s cheap and easy to find. It may defeat the purpose of using what you have but it’s an option.
I am not concerned about BPA so much, but some viewers were. Most of the art and craft supplies will have some harmful chemicals in them but, like you say, we are not eating them. 😊❤️

One a month give all your indoor plants a good soak, until dirt is drenched, but make sure all the water leaves the pot, before putting them back in their place... I have created a forest in my house using this method. Plants I currently have are spider plants, snake tongue, philodendron (the crawling type), dieffenbachia, palm tree and many others... I hope this helps someone out there to take care of their plants... my grandma taught me things, long time ago and it has worked incredible well. Yes, receipts contain bad chemicals. I thought it was in the paper.
There is no ink - it’s a chemical and heat process that’s why we cannot put them in the heat and the receipt turns black with heat. Very very toxic!!

Toxic BPA thermal paper has been banned in Europe since 2020. I’ve just assumed it’s the same case everywhere. Hopefully, it’ll been banned in the rest of the world soon. It’s easy to check if the paper has BPA. To identify these papers, try scratching the printed side. If the scratch leaves a dark mark, the paper contains BPA and it’s not safe.

I had no idea that receipt paper had BPA in it. Unless you’re eating it, what is the harm? If it’s a big concern to you, couldn’t you use calculator paper? It’s cheap and easy to find. It may defeat the purpose of using what you have but it’s an option.
I am not concerned about BPA so much, but some viewers were. Most of the art and craft supplies will have some harmful chemicals in them but, like you say, we are not eating them. 😊❤️
