Building a Sim Racing Rig DIY!

- With basic welding and cutting skills anyone should be able to build a diy cockpit - rig setup like in this video.
This is how I built a sim racing cockpit - rig in just a few days! I wanted a simple design that would look clean and professional.
These were the final dimensions of the rig (exculding the extra 50+mm in height caused by the caster wheels):
Height to the steering wheel mounting plate = 650mm
Height to the seat mount = 200mm
Height to the pedal box mounting plate = 100mm
Total lenght of rig = 1220mm
Total width of rig = 590mm
Pipe thickness = 45mm
The pipe that the steering mount plate is connected to is 340mm in from the front of the rig
The seat centre is approx 300mm from the rear of the rig
The pedal box to seat is approx 750mm (centre to centre)
The steering mount plate to seat mount plate is approx 400mm
Simple and effective. Good build, getting some inspiration for my own project. Well done!
Thanks Hannes!
Great build, well done, very neat and professional. Thank you for posting
A proper job! Nice work looks awesome!
Amazing design clean and simple I love it
one of the best , simple and easy.
One of the best looking rigs I’ve seen! Excellent work sir 👌🏻
Anything you wish you’d done differently now you’ve had it for a while?
Very cool, Danie! Like the BMW M theme too! Iconic.
Thanks Martin! I was a bit sceptical about the white but it came out very nice
Sick sick build, been messing with sim rig ideas myself, defenitly gonna give this one a shot. I own a small fabrication shop and this looks like one helluva nice project
Thanks man! Yeah it should really be a breeze for you to replicate it. And this one ticks all the boxes for me: sturdy, compact, adjustable, comfortable.
Great build. I like your dog's happy butt at the end there too quite funny. Cheers.
Haha thanks buddy!
A very well made video, congrats.
Dude this was awesome. I was only listening to the first part so when I started watching you were just drawing the coloring book and I thought you were actually making drafts. I was dying laughing 😂
😁Yeah it gets a bit lonely working alone so I gotta keep myself entertained!
Nice job on AZracing simulator rig copy.
It looks similar to playseat trophy model... Solid
Brilliant mate, very well made and explained👍👍
Thank you for the kind feedback!
Truly spectacular work.
Top notch man !
Thanks!
its simplicity in design is what makes it so sleek. Congrats on the build. 2 years since you made this. Do you still have it?
Thank you! It is now in the hands of a abid sim racer and he is still very impressed with the look and more importantly feel of the rig. Also the fact that it is on coaster wheels makes it very convenient.
Looks sick and wonderful work. Loving it!
By any chance, do you have the sketch up for this build, like a drawing etc. thanks
Thanks bro! Honestly I was just shooting from the hip till the dimensions worked for me. But if you'd like them I'd be happy to send you measurements
@@BroughBuilt can i have it too? :)
Can you do an update on this project ? Do you have a proper diagram kinda thing for this project or photos? Since it'll be my first trying something like this
Clean ❤
Perfect !!!
that one who give thumb down, I am gonna find him....
Haha! Thanks man 😄
Good job. Looks pro. Did you build that giant desk too? Is it Formica? Looking to build something similar.
Thank you! Unfortunately I can't take credit for the desk 😁
Well done Danie, dit lyk baie nice.
@@BroughBuilt Dankie Danie. Rede waarom ek gevra het, die uitlaat plek naby my doen nie sulke tipe werk nie, so wou weet wat die plek se naam is want dalk kan ek hul probeer vir n ander projek waarmee ek besig is.
Watter stuurwiel en pedaal stelsel gebruik jy, ek het op my stelsel (Logitech G920) my handrem in gesoldeer op een van die bestaande knoppies op die stuurwiel so indien jy hulp benodig daarmee kan ek jou dalk help.
O ek verstaan😁. Dit was by "de Graaf" op die Delmas pad.
Die pedals en stuurwiel is Thrustmaster. Ek sal jou verseker kontak as ek hulp nodig het met die upgrade. Baie dankie!!
I wasn't sure if it was gonna be structurally sound at first ....then he over- engineered it .😄
This looks so cool, roughly how much did this cost you to build
Looks great! How do you only have 3k subs?
Haha thanks man! I'm working on it 😜
What angles did you use knees pipe? Btw really good job ! I make this too but little bit different
Thanks for your kind feedback! I'm not exactly sure of the angles. I just drew them out until they seemed to work for my posture.
@@BroughBuilt Thanks for your answer. Ok i will must to do exactly the same.
How is your equipment doing?
Great stuff! Still working splendid 😁
@@BroughBuilt Yeah !! Good job! 💪🏼
top class ,you got any for sale :)
Thank you! Unfortunately none for sale but if you're interested I can commission one for you 😁
How much it all cost to make??
Hi which clamps are you using if we may ask please
Hi. I used trailer jockey wheel clamps. Perfect diameter and very strong
Amazing job man !! Is there any chance that you can share the dimensions ?
Thank you!! I'll be glad to give the dimensions. I've just uploaded it in the description. Please let me know if there is anything unclear. I will suggest that you mock everything up to make sure it works okay for you.
Thank youu
SOUTH AFRICA!!!!! - Would you consider making one of these to sell bru?
Bonjour auriez vous les dimension ?
Great 👍
can i get the diminshins pls???
Did you ever get the dimension plans?
Hi Danie any news on building a rig to order. I am still interested
Hi Joe. I really want to start fabricating them but I'm just so overwhelmed with work at this stage. Where are you from? Maybe I could make a plan
wow 😍👌
what type of steel material did you use?
Hi. I used mild steel pipe that I got at the exhaust place
@@BroughBuilt aluminised or galvanised?
@@shahirchenko just plain mild steel. That's why it needed to be painted to prevent rust
@@BroughBuilt whats the thickness of those pipe?looking to build one and your rig looks amazing with those pipe bended seamlessly
How much does this Rig weigh?
I haven't physically weighed it yes but I reckon it is approximately 30kg total
@@BroughBuilt Thank you!
Meneer if you are keen to build to order I would definitely be interested
Thanks man! I haven't thought of doing it yet but I will consider doing another one to order.
@@BroughBuilt I would be interested to. Love this cockpit.
Thanks man! I am considering making a couple. I'll keep you updated 😉
Hi Danie, is this channel still active and can i get 2 racing rigs built by you?
Hi Steven. The channel is still very much active but I haven't made a rig again. My plan is actually to make a few this year because of all the good feedback and requests I have gotten.
@@BroughBuilt Awesome, is there any way I can contact you on email maybe? I would like to talk price and order 2 if possible
@@stevenpieterse3074 you are welcome. My email is kayaboyzz@live.co.za
@@BroughBuilt I mailed you thanks
How can I purchase the build plans??
This is only a DIY for experienced metal workers (i.e people who know how to weld and use pipe benders) otherwise it's a "look what I did" video, so it's not really a DIY video after all is it ?
he had the exhaust shop bend the pipe, so all he did was weld it up, not too difficult, easy to diy
update?
Awesome waars myne? 😜
Haha. Plaas maar jou bestelling 😜
@@BroughBuilt sies vir jou 🙄😂😂
South African ?
Yes sir. Proudly 😁
Hi Danie, het jy dalk mates vir my groot asb
