Hi I dont your name but I am a devon lad born and bread and live in Birmingham. Just wanted to say i know its a shame we've lost the old wall but I bet isambard kingdom brunel is looking down and thinking that is a ctacking job. And to me personally I like the new wall very futuristic and very well thought out. I did see the drain points on the bottom left of the video and was thinking brilliant but what happens in winter when they get blocked with leaves etc. Well done to all the boys and girls at network rail and sub contractors an excellent job cant wait to come down and see it all for myself. Peter from Birmingham
Despite my reservations of how this wall was going to turn out I can honestly say I'm impressed. On first look via video it doesn't appear to spoil anything of the sea front, I'll be there in person in about 3 weeks time to see it in the flesh so to speak. On a more personal note, I just want to thank you beach cams man for all the documenting you do of this area for us all, it's very much appreciated and enjoyed. 👍
Very reminiscent of the undercliff walk from Brighton Marina to Saltdean on the seaward side. If the Brighton walkway is anything to go by, it should prove an excellent public amenity. Well done to all concerned.
Thank you beach cam man for posting. My husband said they’ve done a very good job. He’ll be lost now he’s been glued to the screen watching them. Hopefully he can follow the next stage when they come back. God bless 😊
Dawlish Beach Cams not the concrete block, though they will have to move that once Pirates Cabin opens up again. The slotted hole parts along the ramped area of the wall.
The wall is just going to have the same problems as the old wall. There are no large boulders or concrete blocks in front of the wall to block and disperse the high waves.
I'm surprised the wall facing is so vertical, with only a little curvature at the top to redirect wave power. I'd have thought a more curved facing would be better on a stretch we know faces some large wave action.
It all looks a bit stark concrete at the moment but I'm sure that it will mellow in time and last for another 150 years or so. Will there be an official opening later in the year or early next?
Looks nice. I really do hope those drainage holes ate big enough for the amount you and I know can come. I trust that bit you went up and over is for wheelchair users to look over the sea wall. AND I HOPE a Lot of seats along there too. Did the boys have you running there. I do hope it helps the Town. And by the way have you seen the other half on the station side WOW.
When walking along the beach at the end, it looks like there is grout missing from between slabs. Anyone know if this has yet to be completed or is this how the wall is finished?
apparently fencing going on top of the bricks , how tall is it going to be Think it will spoil it , that what made Dawlish unique, can see the trains at waste height , the wall on the track side
Possibly there are penalty clauses in the contract if they didn't open it? Money is often the deciding criteria on projects such as this. I can imagine the Health and Safety representative putting up a strong argument to not open it, but the accountant would have the final word...
I think it looks awful, nature will win again in the end of course. And to think the tramline doesn’t even need to come this close to the sea, there is still an in,and disused track bed. Ah well.
What would you prefer exactly? It be left for the town to be washed away. The presence of the railway in many ways is irrelevant to the need for this wall, as without it, the town will be washed away. Is that what you want?
Such a dreadful sight all that concrete rubbish left from the construction all over the beach, they could at least have cleaned the sand up and not left so much builders rubble lying around, that wont be much fun for the kids to build sandcastles in. That beach was pristine before they started. Also see that the rust from the piles, re-enforcing is showing already, give it ten years and that concrete will blow with concrete cancer that just like all re-enforced structures from the 60s it will need replacing in under 40 years. When will the construction industry learn that steel and salt water are not good friends. You cannot rely on any concrete structure to resist salt water corrosion if its got steel re-enforcing.
it has been built to allow wheelchair users to be able to go from Boat Cove to Dawlish Warren when phase 2 has been completed. Step free access is there. Time has proved it is stopping the sea, and there is just a bit of spray going over the top now.
Cool sea wa it's so new and handsome and modern wow I watched it build on the webcam here to I always wanted to go to dalwish Devon I live in a crappest place in England I'm 8 years old ttoo
l lanzorote webcams i used to look at the Lanzarote Webcam .Really excellent views of all aircraft movement but then it was moved to other locations further away showing so little of plane movement that I lost interest.Great shame.
james vickers Thank you he doesn’t have anything to do with that wall but if you’ve been keeping up with the news and it seems like you have and he is fine wall fell over in a windstorm so maybe these people need to teach him how to build a wall you get it now

Better than I expected. Bring back the icecream cabin! Thanks for the walk

Thank you.
Good to see, from California.
Thank you for taking time to show us it all DBC.
I was thinking the other day they could have put another wheelchair ramp viewing platform up for more folk to look over the wall. 😯
Great video the workmen at network rail have done such a fantastic job in these tough times.
Great video. Thanks for showing it so clearly. Especially down on the Beach. It is HUGE.
Very reminiscent of the undercliff walk from Brighton Marina to Saltdean on the seaward side. If the Brighton walkway is anything to go by, it should prove an excellent public amenity. Well done to all concerned.
Thank you so much for this, the guys have done an amazing job 😊
Look forward to your first winter storm video to see how it handles the big waves.
Looks great
Thanks for sharing
🥰💗💗💗
Good job. Looking lovely

Ready for the next centuries ! Sure the residents, on the other side of the railway, will appreciate it.
So no sea view from the pavement on the other side ...
better than being flooded as the sea rises
the colorful ones built it?
Very Good Scenery & Work👍
Thanks For Your Efforts🤲✌️
👋👋👋
Looks really good, was worried they would have ruined the view, but if anything its safer, wider and better !
ESPECTACULAR , HERMOSO LUGAR
Fantastic Engineering, will give the people security, what Camera was used seems very steady
Thanks Paul. Canon EOS R with a Zhiyun crane lab 3 gimbal.
@@CoastCams247 Excellent
Looks great, but what’s with the random flat blocks by the old Molly Mac’s?
To stop vehicles from driving up there.
Dawlish Beach Cams not the concrete block, though they will have to move that once Pirates Cabin opens up again.
The slotted hole parts along the ramped area of the wall.
Paul Scott yeah, I know that part, I’m talking about the blocks @4:02
Looking forward to video from you of first storm against the wall. Very nice, as always. Loved the walk on the beach, hearing the waves, at the end. B
They have done a good job
I've been watching this throughout lockdown and it's been fascinating. Well done, chaps! (PS I have been doing other things)
It looks really good, can't wait to come home and walk there.
The wall is just going to have the same problems as the old wall. There are no large boulders or concrete blocks in front of the wall to block and disperse the high waves.
Don't get stuck on the beach when the tides coming in, could be interesting!
David Ife, Yep, its a long run to the exits!
i was thinking the same ...
Looking good, it all seemed to come together very quickly,
I'm surprised the wall facing is so vertical, with only a little curvature at the top to redirect wave power. I'd have thought a more curved facing would be better on a stretch we know faces some large wave action.
Wow that wall saw amazing great job work day and night
Hi all, what width of beach sand has been lost it looks like couple of feet to me?
It has always been like that as the tide comes in.
It all looks a bit stark concrete at the moment but I'm sure that it will mellow in time and last for another 150 years or so. Will there be an official opening later in the year or early next?
fantastic
You should've taken the Government's advice and ridden your bike along it Simon, with the Young uns!!😏😆
I am sorry but your not surposed to cycle on the wall. There are signs but people still do it.
A monsterous carbunckle on an old friend..
Feat of engineering. You can’t turn the sea off!
Thanks' DB
Good job
Buen paseo 🚅 🏖

My favourite train ride is between Exeter and Newton Abbot. Especially along the sea wall.
They’ve done a great job and in time too, sad they left all that building sand on the beach 🥴😂
When walking along the beach at the end, it looks like there is grout missing from between slabs. Anyone know if this has yet to be completed or is this how the wall is finished?
Ahh. So that’s what they were building. Interesting.
How high do we build sea defense from a scientific and technological and engineering perspective and how long will it last
apparently fencing going on top of the bricks , how tall is it going to be
Think it will spoil it , that what made Dawlish unique, can see the trains at waste height , the wall on the track side
Why have they opened it if they still have work to do on it?
They did the same last summer ...so it's not block for the summer
Possibly there are penalty clauses in the contract if they didn't open it? Money is often the deciding criteria on projects such as this. I can imagine the Health and Safety representative putting up a strong argument to not open it, but the accountant would have the final word...
Good afternoon to you all from wellington Somerset

Bad signs already! Rust marks showing the metal work breaking down!
Technology/engineering is amazing don't you think..🔧⛓️⛏️📏🔨📏📐🛠️🗜️
30 foot waves must be scared!

What about wheelchair users ?! Don't think things through ?! You haven't got it high enough to stop the sea .

Lovely wall but not a mask between them or 2 meter's?
Cool sea wa it's so new and handsome and modern wow I watched it build on the webcam here to I always wanted to go to dalwish Devon I live in a crappest place in England I'm 8 years old ttoo
Here anyone
Hello
l lanzorote webcams i used to look at the Lanzarote Webcam .Really excellent views of all aircraft movement but then it was moved to other locations further away showing so little of plane movement that I lost interest.Great shame.
Maybe they better show trump how to build a wall that doesn’t fall down😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
What has Donald trump got to do with this over budget mess
james vickers Thank you he doesn’t have anything to do with that wall but if you’ve been keeping up with the news and it seems like you have and he is fine wall fell over in a windstorm so maybe these people need to teach him how to build a wall you get it now
Much needed but not a fan :(
Its ugly taken away the good looks of olden days totol rubbish network rail
