Im an avid user of Scotch Game and Scotch Gambit and I have a very high winning percentage with White.The only thing is that you should be theoretically prepared.

Scottish gambit was the only opening I kinda studied and played a lot. Eventually I won most games in the youth part of my club (up to 16). Few studied openings very deeply. It was more about good principles, intuition and maybe looking a few moves ahead. When I got in the older group NO ONE ever played e5 anymore. Most played Sicilian and I lost every game. Everyone else studied every opening to at least some degree. I dabbled in queen's gambit a bit to avoid sicilian but I felt too behind. Probably to stubborn I didn't want to win by tricks but just good play. If I had heard the wise words "Play the opening like a book, the middle game like a magician, and the endgame like a machine." I might have put some more effort into it. I just wanted to play like a magician.
I didnt check bot but this leads me to think maybe situations like this would be better trade early queen for rook and keep the development, sacrificing quality but stoping having the queen bullied.
Scotch Gambit well explained.I played serious chess in 80s.now iam 67 years old.i started to showing interest after chess Olympiad held in chennai. Still iam able to appreciate your teachings.
What happens if black is content to just return the pawn? For example, after 9... Be7 10. Bg5 black seems to equalize with O-O! as black threatens to hang onto the pawn so white has nothing better than to exchange on e7 and win the d4 pawn which leads to nothing. And that's the whole problem with the Scotch Gambit, black can steer the game into a lifeless do-nothing position as there is no way for white to force a Max Lange proper - it requires black to be overly ambitious in order to afford white continued pressure. It might be better for white to aim for the modern Two Knights variation with 5. e5 instead.

I am playing around the 480-540 level. I cannot for the life of me get above 550. I studied this video for 3 hours. played it over and over and went for it. I lost 12 games as white trying this because nobody in this range plays theory, so i was constantly up against totally unorthodox moves. I have been stuck here in this range for over a month trying everything...nothing is working "the way it should". Help?

Why not black Knight C-6 to E-5? Unpinning the knight on E-4? And at the same time covering the F-7 square? Is this because white knight on F-3 takes black knight on E-5? Perhaps But I can see some counter moves. Thoughts?
The last part of the video where you analyzed the game, black can still stop white from checkmating by moving the black bishop to G7 in front of the H8 rook instead of moving black queen to h3. With this, the white Bishop is exposed, the white Queen is at risk of been killed by the black bishop on G7. How can white win from this position?

Ne4 - d6+ not Ke8 - f8 because with Re1-e8 its check mate imediatly but with Ke8-d8 you stay longer in the game. Ok after Ke8-d8 White can play Nd6-f7+ but it is not check mate right away! None the less stil very interesting!!! 👍👍👍
Very interesting! Only thing I miss is an analysis why d3 is equalising. Also, it may be the top engine move, but there could be more equalising suggestions which aren’t shown here, ‘cause you only show one SF line.

This opening is so brutal... i personally am weak in opening so this will help a lot

Why Black does not castle instead of capturing Bg5? What’s the counter move for White? Capturing Be7 does a perfect parity!
After white's Nc3 it looks crazy for black to keep his queen up the board. Isn't it better just to play Qd8?

Open a new account and start new with this knowledge, will work better as soon as you play against stronger opponents.

The scotch has become my favorite opening for white and this channel is a part of that reason. It’s great for any time control.

This 5.0-0 Nxe4 variation has to be one of the dullest ones in the whole chess openings literature.
