    Great unbiased review! Loved that you did the area temperatures experiment! I purchased this but still have time before it's delivery and installation so I still have time to make a switch. I think I too will end up not using the hub as much and at that point it only becomes a showpiece when company comes over but even their amazement will eventually ware off. And the fact that some apps that are still well used cant be present, like Tidal.

    Its amazing how a review can be misleading as I cannot believe how good it is and better than expected and more

    Yes the water 💧 and ice blocks and crushed ice you have to use a wide large opening glasses and bottles other wise it goes everywhere but you can put other cameras into the fridge

    As the owner of this refrigerator (regular depth) that's replaced our counter depth fridge, I have to say I am satisfied overall. I would like more features but at the end of the day I wanted more space and a functional techy fridge at a decent price and I got just that.
    The display is great for viewing recipes from across the room and the speaker quality is excellent for listening to music while you cook or just because. My fridge received a software update this morning making the display even more useful than it was before.
    The lighting isn't the best by a long shot and the doors do close with a unsophisticated thud but that's about all I would change for now anyway. Great review, thanks for sharing your thoughts.

      Agreed. The reviewer should have shown more of the apps, like Pandora, Spotify, the internet, Ring or a whole host of other useful applications, including tv mirroring and sound quality.
      This review is disappointing in that it was referencing his family vs the average family that doesn’t have a laptop in the kitchen.
      I have an Amazon Echo show on the opposite side of the kitchen and I love the Family Hub and use it every day. It’s fun to use and continuously gives hints for ease of use that you can turn off. I have never had to read the manual to use the Family Hub.
      Overall, I love the Samsung 27.7 cu ft 4 door refrigerator!

    Thanks Mark. That's a very good detailed review. Especially you painstakingly measured the temperature of different spots of the fridge. I'm still considering it. I didn't choose $3K+ version because it's just silly to pay that much for a fridge. $2000 is the max for me. I like the clean line, no handles. I like the ice maker by the door instead of occupying the entire upper left side, and able to take the ice bucket out. The original french door version, I think the ice maker in the regular fridge section probably not cold enough. Sudden warm and cold will melt the ice and refreeze it. That could get the ice stuck. Not a fact, but my opinion. Side by side advantage of freezer section is where the ice maker is. I do think your product scanning idea is a great idea. Or, we could scan the grocery receipt and everything we bought will show up (food for fridge only), and all the expiration info attached. I wish the temperature control has more polished graphical buttons; maybe video calls; whatsapp; skype; switch profiles for email,chat, video chat by facial recognition.

    This review is disappointing in that it was referencing HIS family vs the average family that doesn’t have a laptop in the kitchen. Why buy a Family Hub refrigerator if you have a permanent laptop station in the kitchen? 🤔

    How is the icemaker? Do you see frost under the icemaker? Though I am sure it probably isn't as bad as the French door model with the freezer at the bottom.

    • @DIYMark
      @DIYMark  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have not had any issues with frost build up so far (fingers crossed). My old Kitchenaid had frost build up under it and it was a pain to remove ice container because of it. So I know what you mean. I do wish you could just open the door and grab some cubes...you have to remove the bucket from the door.

      @@DIYMark thanks so much. It's kind of confusing on the website, the spec's read a total from wall to door edge of 28 5/8 but then said fridge without doors is 24" deep....means the rubber seal on doors is the other 5/8 missing. I'm trimming a side wall to be just the size of the fridge deep and exposing only the door edge. Is tricky to get the measurements when still waiting for the fridge.

  • @angrycowsaysMOO
    @angrycowsaysMOO 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi! I know this is an old video but could you tell me how much extra space the door needs to swing open to 90 degrees. (That’s all the play we’ll have since it’ll be kind of against a wall.
    And when opened to 90 degrees do the crisper drawers open all the way or do they run into the door bins?

    • @DIYMark
      @DIYMark  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand your dilemma. The front of the doors are thick and do protrude past the left and right edge of the fridge when opened. But not by much. The right door has to be opened almost all the way (about 135 degrees) to get the drawers open. If you want send me an email with some pictures of your current fridge and I can send you some back of mine with a measuring tape so you can see if it will fit for you. askdiymark"At"gmail "dot"com. Hope this helps!

    Is the ice and water dispenser plumbed??

    • @DIYMark
      @DIYMark  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not sure I fully understand your question....you have to hook the fridge up to a water supply for water/ice and there is a fitting on the back of the unit for that. You supply a line/hose to the water supply valve. Once hooked up it is ready to go. Hope this helps.

    • @adelinelim321
      @adelinelim321 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DIYMark yes that's exactly my question! Cuz we have the water tank hooked up currently that doesn't require plumbing. Just wanted to confirm that there is the option to connect the fridge to plumbing so I don't have to manually fill the water tank for the ice and water dispenser

    After few years It will be annoying if that screen will get obsolete like a smartphone or suddenly break, always reminding that you have a useless or broken black thing on the door of your fridge.

    Great review on such a boreing part and much needed appliance in our lives. I feel like if you get the version with the I pad in it that you are trying to make a statement. That's all. It's not good for anything else. Yes I ordered mine today and was told by a good friend to buy the warranty....the screen WILL GO OUT. Practical? No. But a good conversation piece at best.
