“People are talking shit about me in the Thomas Pynchon subreddit”.
I'm a white american woman that agrees with everything MATT CHRISTMAN of the CHAPO TRAP HOUSE comedy podcast has to say about DAVID FOSTER WALLACE. I would financially support them if such an option existed!
This comment feels like an acid trip. Hope you're alright FW
Hell, me too!
Damn me too
Classic south-east asian/east-asian woman who wears a giant visor anytime the sun is out: “actually, im white”.
I am also [Identity] and I also [opinion].
I miss Matt
The best of us.
We all miss our large son
Where’d he go?
@@samnunnally630he’s a papa now. Also I’m sure still recovering. I’m cool with him taking his time, we could’ve lost him so I’m just happy he’s still with us
brb pausing the video and reading infinite jest to prove my masculinity
dude swallowed one liter of water in a single gulp every 20 seconds for five minutes
Truly the undisputed water champ
Some bend water while still others gargle it
then i realized the whole show was just matt
It's a cumulative effort for sure. I like Matt the best, but Will definitely acts as a producer. Arguably Felix is the lowest level of contribution, but he's an important additional member to help the other ones not get burnt out
@@EC-ol6ck felix is here to give us the most vile descriptions of bodily functions and sex acts, as well as provide the increasingly important gamer perspective
@@burgerpocalypse i think they all have something special. Will is the organizer and keeps everything on rails .Felix has great absurd bits and autistic fixations on military hardware and videogames. And matt was the spiritual guide and moral compass of the whole thing.
Will and Felix definitely round it out but Matt’s the one who got me watching the show
@@EC-ol6ck Felix has an incisive way of drawing connections between things not otherwise expected, and similarly using humour to bring together abstract concept. He's funny as hell, and also he's literally the only one who knows anything in-depth about the geopolitics of the middle east. This is my Felix defence.
Thank you so much for this man, seriously 🙏
I'm gonna cry dude that last clip might be the last recording of Matt's open dialogue before his stroke
Update: the last clip was recorded the day before he had the stroke. A legend in our time.
gulping on the mic is art as cruelty in the way of Nelson's Artaud
I love Infinite Jest so much, I’m afraid to hear Matt’s opinions on it.
Fear is the mind killer
@@jordanstamm1428 They say @TheModernPost is still reluctant to listen
SAME SAME SAME but it seems it is a very insightful positive take full of understanding of the depth of the text? YES? I am only 2 min in ....
THank you Matt! Infinite Jest changed my life and I was already 46 when I first read it. Now planning 4th reread! Matt's view on socialism: you HAVE to check out the life and work of Gustav Landauer, brutally murdered by Freikorps proto Fascists in 1919 in my hometown of Munich.
late-comer to DFW too and now have a daughter named Foster 😂
@@greenwavefitness7545 OMG congrats! I hope you don't have to pay a lot for her therapy in a decade or so hihihi. Our 20 year old just moved out to live with his friends across town and I am VERY HAPPY be took the (as of yet unread) copy of Infinite Jest with him !!!!
What the hell is this masonry laying noises in the background by god
The sounds of nyc baby
if I remember, in 2020/2021 he used to stream outside in a little yard or porch area. so it’s the outside.
Love the train and helicopter ambiance very immersive
The hustle and bustle of the city
Imagine being Matt’s neighbors and hearing him rant about DFW
woah nice catch i'd lost this thanks
his episode on the infinite cast is really great (chris wade and molly’s infinite jest readthrough podcast)
Is that what Chris Wade gets up to in his spare time 😂
All the christman please
A modern Great One
"bodenga" lol
Eustace Tilley-like is a wonderful turn of phrase.
11:00 i read knausgaard because felix always brought him up 😳
There's a GOD DAMN CHEETO IN THE WHITEHOUSE!!!
I decided to pick up A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again...again, and having learned a bit of math since reading it as a teenager, I remember being jolted by him talking about "the cross products of curves in 3-space." I've never heard of the taking of cross products of curves, as opposed to vectors, and also I thought it was uncanny to mention it being in 3-space. Like, as opposed to cross products in 7-space?
miss you man
i got an Amazon ad with a orange microwave !!!
Not enough lip smacking and swallowing noises. I need to hear every gurgle Matt’s body makes.
Does anyone know what music is playing in the background in the beginning of this? It's super fitting
what are you taking about, there is no music
Eerie ending
Shout out the big nephew Matt
Every time I listen to Matt get metaphysical i am more convinced that Philipp Mainlander is correct and feel a stronger revulsion to "Life Afferming" people.
Oh shit. This guy listens to Phillip mainlander. What a stud

Anyone know when Christman is coming back?
probably not for a while, he's ok/recovering now but the stroke affected his speech
I would imagine the NDE changed his perspective on some stuff. Dude's got a tiny baby girl who almost never got to meet her dad. It's gotta affect your priorities.
A stroke? How the fuc@@iamthatheroine
@@shannonm.townsend1232 the chapo boys reported he had a "sudden and very serious medical emergency" several months ago and confirmed later on his Twitter that it was a hemorrhagic stroke/aneurysm
@@sandequation2653true, you can’t have a dude that smart and not know when to slow down. Thank God (for the most part) the Chapo family is fully behind Matt and his choices
Does he ever actually talk about the book?
"DFW got the psychological interiority that late capitalism produced better than anybody" 3:08 = YES and as you say Matt: not only for white males :)
TIL Matt read Dune to grok Felix and Will....
These books only make sense on coke
We can all agree, Steely Dan fuckin sucks

This is the manager of Andre's Steak House talking about a book

Where am I? Who are you people?
Couldn’t stick around after he couldn’t decide what fucking word he was trying to say twice in the beginning
Not worth his time anyway, then.
Good to know
First
much impressive wow
From the wikipedia synopsis it seems like the book is just a bunch of self indulgent bullshit that goes nowhere.
That's why you read a book and make a decision for yourself based on the actual text and not based on a synopsis. Imagine reading a synopsis of Crime and Punishment and thinking, "Oh guy does a murder and feels guilty, sound boring," and then missing out on one of the greatest explorations of the human psyche in literature.
@@infinitesyncstudios4026same energy as Ulysses is dumb, it’s just about a guy for a few days lmao.
