  • Part 2: • A Well Drilling Story ...
    It's easy to talk about taking a risk after you succeed. I hear less talk about risks and failure.

    Ahhh… I WANT PART 2 NOW! 😧 So much to unpack here. First off, your poor mom… Dan, I honestly don’t know why you’ve been burdened with so much pain and loss, and how you keep going. But I’m so glad you do! I’m praying for your mom and sending positive, healing energy. I hope you all find strength and peace on yet another unfortunate journey. As for the well - wow. I had no idea how privileged we are to just have unlimited clean water all the time. I totally take that for granted. This was educational, entertaining, inspiring, and heartbreaking. Once again, thanks for sharing this part of your life. That 18 minutes went by fast. I am looking forward to part 2. Until them, all the best to you and your family. 🙌🏼

      Thank you Patrick! Therapy helps. Also, I'm sure I have a lot of delayed grief to process and have set (or perhaps ...not set?) expectations. It'll take years to sort through everything. But as far as this project goes: So glad you enjoyed the video! I'm working on the next part. Hoping part 2 is the conclusion as much as anyone else 🙃

    Fascinating. I had no idea they went that deep. I'm calling it. Jessie called, and the water is crystal clear and beautiful :D

      Yeah, and it's best if they don't have to 😉. It'd be great if we could all find water at like 50'. But the drillers tell me this isn't even the deepest. They have drilled some over 1000' on ridges in the area.

    Should have used a cable tool rig it would not have plugged your water producing fractures up

      @@makefixbuild Even knowing that this was all filmed in the past, I was getting more and more anxious as the video went on. Really well-shot, though. I love the drone footage. And the house looks awesome.

      It was (is?) such a roller coaster. I’m not done shooting part 2. 😬🙃😜

    This reminds me of a scene in the Cary Grant movie "Mr. Blandings builds his dream house" - "still drilling!" :)

    Hearing the water trickling in your well means the water is coming in the well from a higher, less deep location?Which depht is this ?

    • @makefixbuild
      @makefixbuild  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe the water is coming in somewhere between 250-300 ft. We were hoping to continue to hit more places like that so the combined recharge rate would go up but I think the water we hit early on is the total of what we got even though we kept drilling. The benefit of the depth, though, is all the extra storage it provides, so it’s still useful to put the pump as low as practicality possible.

    Couldn't you move to another place farther from where you've dug this hole and look for water or is this your only option? I mean down the hill farther?

    • @makefixbuild
      @makefixbuild  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We could, but there’s similar risk no matter where we drill. And from what I’ve learned we typically get committed to going (for example) 100’ deeper in the same hole rather than move 100’ over once the casing is in because the casing is a significant part of the budget. And the casing goes in before we start drilling in the rock actually looking for water. It would get really expensive to continue to drill down and put in casings in new holes. That said, in theory you’re totally right, if I had unlimited funds we could keep drilling new wells until we get what we’re looking for!
