    Earth acts as a magnet.As we all know charged particles can produce magnetic field around it as charges moves from one point to another.The momentum produced by the charged particle is also responsible for producing magnetic fields.When we consider earth, whole as a charged sphere or a particle, it revolves around the sun to produce a momentum. The momentum produces magnetic field around earth. So that earth act like a magnet.
    Earth rotates on its own axis. It also produces a momentum. So it can also create magnetic field around earth. When the earth rotates on its axis the two poles 'North' & 'South' poles does not rotate. So that its is somewhat stable. This can be the reason behind "a compass showing the north-south direction".

      @mazenmohammed3262 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      bro your imagination went too far for a simple answer north and south pole are stable because the earth has a definite location called north, south, west, east if as u say that north and south are stable bcz earth don't rotate at these points then how west and east are stable bcz earth makes rotational motion.

    With due respect I world like to say that the geographical north pole is infact south pole of eacth (earth is treated as a magnet) since the north pole of bar magnet is always attracted towards the geographic north pole i.e the geographic north pole is infact magnetic south pole of earth and vice versa

    Sir, it is said that when we bury a iron rod inside the earth, it becomes a magnet due to magnetic induction......but magnetic induction is temporary....so, how it becomes a magnet
