I worked at JFK in early 1970, when the first 747's came into service, filling the galleys with food & alcoholic beverages! Flying was an exciting experience then & Pan Am was at the top! Boarding the plane, especially 747's, with its meals, drinks, movies, lounges & beautiful stewardesses, you knew you were starting a vacation!
one reason mainstream media is dying - it insists on telling people what to think about the video rather than shutting up and letting people make up their own mind
The aluminum tube airplane is about the only thing that remains the same. I felt sorry by the view of that passenger duct taped on his seat. During the 60s and 70s, I don't think duct tape even existed, nor did the repulsive and rude passenger existed. As the video say, it's just a bus with wings. The only thing that can weed out the bad crowds is to return to pricey tickets, to curb out the PJ, sandal weating passengers, but for the pricey tickets, passengers should expect the return of the days of flight service that created a great experience.
Yeah, we really don't need his judgmental comments. I think we all realize it was a different time back then. In some ways worse, but in many other ways much better than today.
THIS was the era that being a stewardess was GLAMOROUS ! THE STEWARDESSES were far more attractive than any other time. Why? Because of the rules required. What changed ? THE WOMEN'S MOVEMENT ! TOO BAD !
Nothing at all wrong with that era in flying. The major carriers and even the regional lines prided themselves on providing excellent passenger service. The stewardesses, who had more contact with the passengers than anyone, were attractive and mostly friendly. Cocktails and good meal service. Airlines now use the tv screens in front of the seat as the primary way of keeping passengers occupied instead of customer service. One trip down the aisle with a beverage cart and that's usually it.
What a bullshit video! Here is disgraced Brian Williams pontificating about an age that’s been gone a longtime and smugly judging it from today’s perspective. Like, who cares about your opinion?
If in other words if you work at McDonald’s, Walmart or any other type of similar “employment” you are qualified to be a flight attendant. Just don’t have a criminal record or do drugs of any sort you have a shot at this job. Being pretty, smart, college educated, young or thin DOESNT disqualify you! Go for it and apply. You never know your life could be changed.

WTH are you talking about?
Yes, well said. I was about to write that I would much rather just listen to and watch the film, and not be forced to hear the idiotic commentary
@Chatta-Ortega LOL, WTF you think? The anchorman keeps talking over the vidz
Most sportscaster do the same. BLA BLA.
True. Brian Williams is so freaking annoying with this voiceover BS. Just let us watch the hot '60s chicks without his interruptions!

Also, be nice to your nurses and all of your medical staff.
Is this documentary available somewhere without Brian Williams' annoyingly talking over it?

Exactly

Actually, "MAD MEN" the plot started in fall 1960, just before the 1960 elections. The plot of the series ended in about 1969. Try harder Brian.
Once upon a time… and now😢
They’re beautiful and thin. My how times have changed.
These days they can barely fit in the aisle.
I wouldn’t say they were beautiful. You need glasses and some of them looked like loose woman for the 60S!
"..a tube full of demons.", Kenneth Copeland
There were no unruly passengers either.
I don't understand the point he was trying to make about serving dinner.
You didn't mention that before 1972 all airline stewardesses had to be RNs
