Oh man, these sets bring it back. I remember watching spookys stream and weeklys and both it was either PIE Smug or PIE Zeus playing for winner, sometimes each other. They were unstoppable.
Those streams in the later life of SF4 were amazing. The last few years when really good players started coming up in the USA were crazy. WNF at Super Arcade and TeamSpooky weeklies had mad talent. Depending on who showed up, it was like mini tournaments sometimes. Life was so simple back then. Now I'm no longer a youngin.
It would be the PIE guys and Sanford for a hot minute, good times.
I love this game more then nothing but Dudley Ultra is impossible! What did he even do there?

I remember finally playing SFIV I started with super then moved up to ultra bout a month later. My first character i picked up was vega it was hard cause I had no idea how to properly play him at all, I would just cheese my friends by flying the whole time cause they didn't know how to deal with it. Either way, I wanted to start getting serious so I looked up Vega videos and the first one I saw was Pie Zues. I learned so much by watching those compilations and videos along with watching other good vega players and to think the 4 vega players I watched all had a different style of approach and fighting. I figured out I actually like being mad aggressive with vega but I knew when to start taking it slow though especially going up against Kens, Cody's and Dudleys. Either way I gotta thank zues for making me a great vega player!
Sorry for the story just wanted to show my appreciation.

Thats crazy because I legit have a very similar story on how I played vega and I went from super into ultra within a 1-2 month period and leveled up watching zeus

Vega is one of my characters in SF4. But I know that he's not fun to play as or against, because compared to most mid tiers and the top tiers, he kinda is limited.

Sometimes I just have to admire how Capcom crafted a set of fighters with so unique fighting styles so well. Especially the characters created during the SFII and Third Strike games. I love watching Vega, Dudley, Yun, Chun Li, Dhalsim, Makoto, and a host of others, by people who have mastered their move set.

@@skipfuego6339 you literally described him as mid tier but more realistically vegas in the bottom half of characters but he is by no means a cheap chararcter. nothing about his options are cheap.

It’s crazy to think that just by watching this set, I’m still learning so much about the match up and Vega’s options on offense and defense. The counter hit s.mk, c.mk, c.mp EX FBA combo was something I never seen before, and that was *chef’s kiss*.

This Vega is at the highest level a character can be at. Tough match for anyone for sure. His range and combos are on point.
You can always tell a Smug video when he's serious, because his commentary goes out the window and we get some really intense games.

Back before SF5 came out, I remember watching the weekly tournament streams from Spooky with SF4, where the finale more often than not would be between Smug and Zeus. Those were some really good matches and this totally brings me back.
As someone who mained Vega back 4, I miss watching players like Zeus and Chris King. Always a learning experience

Vega is my favorite character in SF4. Absolutely wonderful watching this. This guy plays kinda similar to me. Those are all the juicy strats and combos.

Vega’s crouching hurtbox is one of the smallest in the game height wise.
I remember when Daiminion had to have a Guile mirror grand finals at a major. Had to be the sleepiest grand finals in SF4 tournament history.
I remember playing Zeus way back on PS3. He has the most annoying playstyle ever lol. If you don't have decent footsies he'll make you feel completely helpless. Good memories.

A closer comparison for Ed would be something like a mixture between Bison and Balrog, purely going by canon alone.
In reality I see more comparison between Ed and Oro's moveset than Ed and Dudley's.
Zeus's defense was the hype! No mashing, good use of Vega's backdash, solid awareness of Vega's awkward anti-air hotboxes... Total package. Smug's still the most electrifying man in SF entertainment today... But, uh,... You gonna have try harder against somebody who knows how to block.

I have a confusion. When we play in daily, the opponent would use SA to neutralize the dropping down scratch from Vega. But I didn't see a pro play use that. I don't know why.
