Snap 3 Pro Is The Best Phone Grip Ever? OhSnap!

  • Been seeing a ton of Snap 3 ads on my socials so I figure it was time to do a real review. Is is the best grip ever? It's the best grip...
    That ohsnap has made so far. Huge upgrade over Snap 2 and mildly better than Snap 1.
    Here's what I think are the best phone grips: • I Tested 20 iPhone 13 ...
    Ohsnap 2 Review: • The Ultimate OhSnap Gr...
    Best iPhone Accessories: • I've Spent $17,000 On ...
    As I'm editing this video, I realized I called the Snap 3, more times than not, the OhSnap 3 Point O. Funny how my brain is wired sometimes...
    Reason #1 - Semi-Permanent Grip
    Before MagSafe, sticking something to my iPhone was bearable. After the introduction of MagSafe, sticking something that's semi-permanent is annoying.
    Especially if you have other MagSafe accessories that you use. My biggest issue is that accessories will rotate on the Snap 3 Pro as the grip prevents the accessories form using the lower magnet's on the MagSafe array.
    Wouldn't have been a big deal if other grips did this but the best grips in my collection don't have this issue.
    Reason #2 - It's too thin
    The actual grip portion sits flush against the base which minimizes the bulk. Smart.
    What's not smart is how thin the actual grip portion is. With normal grips, you pull the grip out. With the Snap 3 Pro, you pry.
    With a fingernail. Nothing says "this accessory is awesome" like having your fingernail split from your finger and having to deal with that issue for a few days at a time.
    Reason #3 - MagSafe charging doesn't really work
    Using an actual MagSafe charger with the Snap 3 doesn't result in 15W charging speeds. It only does 7.5W.
    Which sucks. In my 15 min charge tests, the Snap 3 Pro on a bare iPhone was 30% slower in terms of charging. On my iPhone 14 Pro Max with a thin clear case and the Snap 3 Pro, it was 85% slower.
    WTF?
    At the end of the day, having a thin, annoying grip doesn't outweigh the benefits that I lose with my MagSafe accessories.

    I just got the O snap pro 3 and it’s been great so far! I have not lost any of my MagSafe capabilities at all.
    So far I’ve charged my iPhone 13 Pro Max without any degradation in charging speeds. My MagSafe battery still work and my apple wallet still sticks if I need it.
    The point you make about it being difficult to pry up is over dramatic. I can easily lift it with the corner of my nail.

    I think it depends on what you're looking for. As a Rhinoshield bumper case user, back when I used the Popsocket grip, I often found myself catching it on my pants putting my phone in my pocket. This grip sits fully beneath the ridge around the Rhinoshield on the back of the phone, so that issue is gone. For my use case, I have not had charging issues with the ohsnap applied. I MOSTLY charge only at night, so if it takes a bit longer, no big deal. Also, you don't HAVE to remove this to apply other magsafe devices (such as the battery). The magnets on this are much stronger than base magsafe, so the ring magnets are actually so strong that you really have to try to rotate a battery off-axis. Finally, I will say that pulling the center portion out to use it does require fingernails. However, as the ohsnap was used more and more, that connection loosened. I have only ever ACTUALLY needed to take this off my phone twice, and both of those times it was to show people how it works. I like that it has the adhesive so it doesn't come off with the accessory when disconnecting. In my experience the adhesive does not come off or gall up because you only need to insert a card gently underneath it to break the seal. And, the adhesive is washable. Not sure what you experienced with that is typical.

    • @QueenOfRice
      @QueenOfRice ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Are you able to pull the centerpiece out one handed?
      The last part of this video where the ohsnap comes off bc of the magnet, have you found that to be an issue? Annoyance? Not common in your experience?
      Thanks for sharing your experience; I enjoyed their v2 but hesitant on this version

    • @mrmax86
      @mrmax86 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@QueenOfRice Yes, I had to do it two-handed initially, but subconsciously learned to do it with one hand over time. I have car and work mounts I use daily, as well as charge on a MagSafe dock every night. It has never come off. I have mine mounted directly to the back of the phone (I have a bumper case), and recently applied a skin to the back of the phone and am now mounted to that with no issue.

    • @aaroncollado8564
      @aaroncollado8564 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The magnet on the phone is no problem at all. The main problem is it’s flimsy flap. The adhesive that held it together eventually came off so I wasn’t able to use the kickstand. Next the center of the flap started to cave in because of the constant opening and closer.

  • @traceymoore6797
    @traceymoore6797 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I love the Snap 3 Pro grip, and agree with other commenters that it depends on what you are looking for, and how you use (or don’t use) other magsafe accessories. I don’t use magsafe charging or other magsafe accessories, so that is a non-issue for me. I want a grip that is thin enough to not snag on my back pocket, won’t take up extra space in my tiny purse, works as a landscape stand and won’t come off when I’m actually using it as a grip. This checks all the boxes, and I would definitely replace it with another Snap 3 Pro if something ever happened to it. I don’t mind the living hinge, and haven’t had any issues with it in 4 months of use. I also use a Rhinosheild case. If I ever really wanted to use magsafe, I would probably switch to the Rhinoshield grip, but I’m super happy for now. Love your reviews! I always find information that helps me make purchasing decisions, and I appreciate all of the work you put into them. Edit: I forgot another important point for me…my clamping car mounts work so much better with this thin grip. My old PopSocket was way too thick, and one of my clamping mounts would barely hold on to the sides of my phone.

    I actually REALLY like it as a grip - it's comfortable and works great as a stand. I love that it's so thin. My only gripe is yeah, it doesn't work with wireless charging on most cases. I had to buy a new case in order to have it work. If anyone else is thinking of getting this because you like the idea of a grip that works as a vertical stand (that was my biggest selling point), it works with a Caudabe Synthesis case (not the Sheath) with the Belkin 3-in-1 wireless charger. But, I like the Snap 3 Pro enough that I was willing to buy a new case, and that's saying something.

    Oh snap 2 was my favorite but I never used it as a grip. I used it as a kickstand and use the kickstand mode as the grip just to prop up the phone. I never stretch the elastic. The magnets always snapped the elastic back when I wasn't using it as a kickstand. The V3 basically made it useless as a kickstand.

The only issue I have with it is, occasionally when I take my phone off my MagSafe car mount that has very strong magnets, it will stay magnetized to the car mount. I did get it replaced once and it happened again. When it worked, it was great. It was a thin grip that slid in and it is the pocket easily. It was pretty easy to pop open and was comfortable to hold the phone. I also had the snap pro 1 and snap pro 2. Those were both also good, but both also ended up having the elastic break on me. I did like how those types of brands were slimmer than a pop socket. Pop Sockets seen to be more durable in general, at least for me.

    I ended up purchasing a two pack of the OhSnap 3.0 MagSafe grip and overall I'm pretty dissatisfied, however it does have some redeeming qualities.
    Pros: It's thin and works as an alternative to the larger and bulkier pop sockets.
    Cons: The magnet is NOT strong enough to hold up the IPhone 15 Pro Max in part because the camera sticks out further then the mount does, even when it's flush with a metal surface the slightest disturbance will send it sliding down the metal object. The adhesive is so poor that even when following the instructions perfectly the adhesive mount has popped off my phone on not just one of the SnapPro 3s that I purchased but BOTH and now I can't use either, this problem is so bad that they even sell additional adhesives LINK. Without nails it's very difficult to open the grip so it's useable.
    I really like the Pop-Socket & was hoping to love this grip, but I really don't.

    The fact that this has “pro” in the name further proves that all the nomenclature “pro” stands for is an increased price point.
    Thanks for keeping it real as always!

    Really wish I'd watched this BEFORE spending $40 on the grip...and then like $50 more in accessories for free shipping. Lesson learned.

    Hmm, surprised to hear that this 3.0 has the strongest magnet out of the 3. Altho I don't hav the 3.0 to compare, I felt that the 1.0 had the stronger magnet than the 2.0 bc my s21 ultra didn't slip off the fridge when I hung it w/ the 1.0 (my phone just slowly went down the fridge w/ the 2.0). I'll hav to check this 3.0 out now

    Can you do further research into car mounts. Like the best setup. I don’t understand why people want you to buy their crappy off brand products that aren’t the MagSafe wireless charger. I have been thinking of a way to mount a MagSafe wireless battery bank to my car preferably with window mount then mount my phone that way. Unfortunately there are no products for the wireless battery bank to be mounted. It would be cool to charge it at home then have a wireless setup in the car.

    It doesn't really hold my Samsung 23 ultra.... I was so excited to use it after watching the ads but the adhesive doesn't even stick and the magnet isn't strong enough. Quite disappointing to be honest. Just great marketing. Not so much a great product
