- Have you heard? The Cannondale Scalpel is back! Martyn unfortunately couldn't get his hands on this updated MTB. Luckily, his phonebook is pretty stacked so he managed to get in touch with a few friends who have been riding the bike!

What do you think of the new Cannondale?
I like it!!!
I think i'd like a go at it. :)
i love it and i need it
Where's the link to win this bike?
Sooo sick
Love you too, Martyn! Always good catching up ❤️❤️❤️
🔔 Always a SUPER NICE from Martyn! 🤘👊
Gayyy
Hooooolly molly, Henrique Avancini showing up on the gmbn channel, that's something I didn't think I was ever going to see anytime soon.
Awesome!
We were so stoked to talk to him... could you tell?! 😂
@@gmbn Heck yeahhh, who wouldn't be stoked to talk to that guy? 🤣
So... I just watched a 10 minutes long ad about a bike i'll never be able to afford. Cool.
You are not alone, broh... U R not alone...😔
Mate it's MTB, can't afford most things 😂
Someone viewing this might be able to afford it:)
I grew up across the street from Cannondale’s big manufacturing facility in Bedford, Pennsylvania. We used to dumpster dive for defected parts and frames to build bikes! The 90’s and early 2000’s. Those were the good old days!
Btw... needless to say that I’m a Cannondale guy for life!!!
This was a great format - keeping the new product launch video super fun. Could have been all numbers and nitty-gritty detail, but this is a lot more engaging. Still got all the marketing points and let their sponsored athletes do their sales pitches, but without boring everybody.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! 🤘
I have the scalpel 2013 alloy and I love Cannondale bikes. I think they’re my favorite bike brand.
Nice one Luca! They're up their with one of Martyn's favourites too!
Luca Iacono I run a cannondale trail 1 with Fox 36’s
Wow Luca yacano you are so cute
Awesome format! As a brazilian, seeing Avancini pictured globally as the idol he is was awesome. Thanks GMBN!
Glad you enjoyed it Pedro!
@@gmbn Maybe an unimportant fact but the pronunciation of his name is more like "Anhicky". ✌️
Whoever came up with the concept for this video, well done.
Nicely done! Very creative. Love Martyn's excitement.
Thanks very much Keith!
I still have my 2001 Cannondale Jekyll! The Scalpel looks nice though!
Loved this format. Great concept very well executed. Another banger from GMBN. Cannondale should also be stoked with this.
Absolutely love cannondale, I've actually got the 2019 fsi in the blue throwback color way, couldn't help but see it hanging behind Martyn's head😋
No complaints. Gotta pay the bills to keep GMBN in business. Ads like this (and the Trek Supercaliber ad with Jolanda Neff and the kid who says "WHATEVER!! CROSS COUNTRY SUCKS!") are enjoyable. I stan.
Really nice advert from GMBN, the new Scalpel is beautiful, with modern geometry.
Hopefully new frame will be much stronger than the previous one.
Am I right Cannondale?
I am a big fan of Cannondale, a big fan of Henrique and a big fan of GMBN... I watched this video with a big smile on my face!
Hahaha! Martyn fangirling over the new Scalpel is the best!!
He's a Cannondale fan through and through!
@@gmbn Since working with Cannondale Australia, I've become a bit of a Martyn fangirl. So it goes both ways ;)
What fun. I have the previous version of the Scalpel Hi-Mod and that bike is amazingly fast too!
"Bit steep in the office" brilliant
Evening. Be really interesting I reckon if you did a feature on the “Lefty” fork. Why does it work? Or not? Why do cannondale persist with it? Why do other manufacturers not make the same? Why not a “Righty”? And anything else you can think of? How does it feel/ride? TIA
Good questions. I think i know the answers to some of them, but I would also like to see #gmbn tech do an episode on this.
@@charlesziegler9245 the brake disc is on the left obviously.
We think Doddy has touched on the lefty a few times in the Tech Show, not sure he's done a full video on it though 🤔
And to perhaps take it a step further, how much difference does the frame, materials, shape whatever make when the majority of manufacturers use the same shocks and forks in equivalent style/price point bikes to how a bike rides?
As for why not the “righty” think about where all disc rotors and calipers are mounted...
Cannondale bikes are phenomenal! I love my 2019 Habit 5. Thing is indestructible but of course always treated with some post ride TLC.
Post ride TLC is important! 👌
I feel like Martyn whenever I find something cool then everyone else already found it lmao.
Happens to the best of us! 😂
What an amazing video! Keep up the work!!
of all the scalpel release videos on youtube, GMBN really did the best job. i wish i would have 5000 bucks laying around. such a beautiful bike, id loooove to ride one! the only thing missing, is a droper post.
Love the format great fun keep it up guys
Carbon SE is beyond my reach, I will wait if they will introduce Al SE version with similar specs
Holy ****, that's some next level product review. Well done lads!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hollllly crap that’s sooooo sick!!!!!!!
Thanks for watching Byron!
Global Mountain Bike Network all good keep it up
Love the ending Marty
Thanks for watching Kaleb!
reminds me a bit of the giant anthem; XC focused but super capable trail machine
love the content you guys are making
Thanks!
about to pick up my first gmbn jersey keep up the good work
Excellent video, I've had many Cannondales
That’s a nice Cannondale Martyn and GMBN crew
Thanks for watching Clint 🤘
SE for the win 👌
The bike looks great but Martyn is the true hero of the video :)
True that!
The SE sounds like the kind of bike I've been trying to find but no-one seems to make, halfway between an XC race bike but not a full-on trail bike. Something for long days out but won't scare me if I find something technical to throw it down. With everyone going bigger, longer and slacker it's a sector that's been badly neglected. Will have to get a demo arranged when the lockdown is over.
This and the Izzo are strong contenders for me. 5 month wait for an izzo though.
Intense Sniper Trail has your number. Also YT Izzo, Trek Top Fuel, Scott Spark. I think this segment is actually about to replace Enduro as the "in" thing; I know my next MTB will be a short-travel ripper.
Yo Martyn my brother used to have a replica of your red trails bike made from an m900 back in the 90’s , used to love riding it down the shops and showing off on it , I own a cannondale Jekyll and thought how sick it would be if I could have that old School paint job on it !!
That was such a good video, you should do calls with 50to01 crew and talk about the habit.🤙
I'd love to see Ratboy doing a nac nac with this bike
Not on those chainstays loool
Martyn, so much funny!!! I want an SE 🤤🤤🤤
love the vid, love cannondale, love u guys. 🖤🔥
The mith Henrique Avancini!! 🤘🏼🇧🇷
He's brilliant isn't he!
Would love to know the difference between this one and the previous one! i was blown away when i tested the previous and i ended up buying one
are the xc bikes going toward enduro? (full sus, and can handle bigger hits) and enduro bikes are getting lighter, and more pedal friendly than downhill bikes.
it looks more and more, like its a grey overlapping zone. I'm not against it, just asking... and this video is a fun way to promote the bike. great vid.
I’ve got a cannon dale and there my favourite
Martin is the man 👊
I have some sand and gravel and was thinking to build a roler that i can ride or jump but i am not sure if it will compact enough so it will last at least 2 weeks of riding, any tips to copact sand and gravel better?
Yooo love the vids
Martin seems stoked!
He's a huge Cannondale fan!
sick, sick, sick bike!
Great vid gents!
Thanks for watching
You know you’re old when you have a phone book 😝
Man, this video came off EPIC! Congratulations!!! 🤩👌👏🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹😍
Looks amazing! I'm considering buying a 2019 Scalpel SE, brand new and on sale for $2999. But given all of these improvements, especially in geometry, would the 2019 ride similar to the 2021? Is the 2019 worth it? Anyone out there own one? 👀
I know there is a disclaimer that says paid promotion included, but was there anything but paid promotion? I prefer the more fair and balanced pieces from GMBN, but maybe that's just me.
The paid promo in this was for us to bring you the info on this new bike! We're not told what to say and we don't do reviews, so we tried to make it entertaining and topical. Paid promo isn't something to be afraid of, it allows us to keep the channel rolling and make heaps of videos for you on TH-cam for free!
OMFG..Love it! want it!
Cannondale always have the coolest bikes
Would you recommend the new calibre two cubed?
Doddy with the I love lefty mug
But is it in his left hand? 🤔
Saw 6-7 Scalpel promos today and again the GMBN version blows the other guys away. Martyn deserves an Oscar too.
Thought you was pointing at that disc rota for sec. 😄
I‘m stuck... supercaliper or scalpel?!
Sounds like Neil's Scalpel has some sort of twig in the spokes or is that the normal noise a Cannondale makes? ;-)
It was actually the music, but i know what you mean
That was fun 😆
Bike is nice, but good luck if you need support from Cannondale. Have a 2018 Scalpel Carbon 3. Rear hub broke in March. Have been trying to get parts support from Cannondale since. No response, and when they did response the information was wrong. Sad state of once iconic US bike company.
I dont understand why the downtube is designed like that if the shock does not mount on over the BB... Otherwise it kinda looks like a specialised and cannondale got a kid. :P
I can't find a pair of Cannondale trousers like 50/01 lad has. Anyone know where to find?
Is that a 50t chainring on Henrique's bike?! 😲😅
Probably! Guy's a machine!
bought one, please don't tell the wife:) love it
nice advert, thanks for that gmbn (a bit long for a youtube ad break though.)
#askgmbn Hi guys, I’m pretty new to mountain biking and I kind of rushed into buying a bike. I wasn’t sure what size frame I needed and I ended up with a 2020 Cube aim pro 17” 29er and I am 6ft 2”. It wasn’t until I was doing alot of uphill pedaling until I felt uncomfortable. Is there anything I can do to make the bike suit me better like stem lengths or riser bars ?
Can I find this back crank arm
When you are riding a Cannondale you are instantly cool
I have an cannondale catalyst 3
8 speed shimano tourney mechanical disk break it is still alive but the parts dosent work that well
That's chainstay. Looks like it would snap. I don't if I could trust it lol.
I think it's good
a little too much but its a good way to launch a new bike under these covid conditions .. hugs
Love it
Wish I could afford this dream.... Back to my trail x and trail six for me :(
Mmm pretty good xc bike
Anybody else really hoping Avancini was gonna throw it over to Ratboy to tell us about how fun it is lol?
Not Ratboy, but Ella sure knows how to have fun on a bike when she's not between the tapes!
The brake Rotars look tiny
Leaf spring rear suspension, this is the obvious next step. Suspension without bearing, bushings and pistons.
Love the fanboy act
When is GMBN going to check out Silverback Bikes?🧐
When they pay them to do an 'objective' review most likely. All their reviews have the paid promotion warning at the start.
@UCA1TW6amEnne_J7bY96-6fQ look at their sponsors in the description
@ResCyn, it's not a 'warning' but a disclaimer. Cannondale paid for this video to bring a first look of their new bike to our channel. Paid promo is nothing to be afraid of, it helps us make TH-cam videos every day of the week for you, for free!
@@gmbn Hey, I get that guys. But I will forever be wary of anything that a company pays to promote. That's just common sense. How likely are you to shit on a bike that you've been paid to promote? I watch all the time and can't say I've seen it yet - to be fair you might have just liked everything but there's always that doubt. Being alert to it is just good consumer practice. Also, it's a disclosure not a disclaimer ;)
GMBN sinks to a new low.
faster than scott spark rc 900 wc ?
Another new bike sponsor?
I love lefty 😂😂🤣🤣
Requesting a giveaway for this bike!🤞🍀😂
Not ours to give away unfortunately!
Global Mountain Bike Network Bummer, will have to buy it then!🤑 Remember Martyn riding the team blue Cannondale at Kaprun World Cup.👌🚵♂️
Avancini is the best
it's strange that they didn't make 141QR)))
5:49 Is that the actual phone number of Henrique Avancini? Doesn't seem like a good idea to just leave it there....
Martyn wet his pants!😁
I have a Cannondale Trigger 2 cause I ride Enduro
Nice!
Cannondale sent Neil a bike with SRAM SX wtf
So bascially the SE is exactly the same frame but with longer shocks on it, which slackens the seat tube angle from 74.5 to 74, and slackens the head tube angle from 68 to 67. My issue with marketing these "downcountry" bikes which are modded versions like the SE is the geometry doesn't seem to be optimized for that travel, since the frame was designed and purpose-built for 100mm world cup bikes. Also, there may be tire clearance restrictions. I don't know, if you want an XC bike, then get the Scalpel it rocks. If you realize the travel is not enough then make it longer yourself by swapping the air spring in the fork which is only $50. Like is it really that much more expensive to have a different frame for the SE? I feel like Cannondale and other brands like Intense Sniper "XC" vs "T" are just trying to emulate bikes like the Norco Optic, without the added cost of designing a frame that actually works with 120mm travel.
That Scott guy was a bit rude wasn't he...
You case that flat part will snap
Besides that scary part it’s mint
I'm confused, what's the point of that flat, thin bit?
@@williamgalloway4798 it is supposed to flex to keep the suspension working well, but without pivots.
We're sure Cannondale have done adequate stress testing on it! Martyn spent half of the video asking about durability after all 🤔
Like if the flat part snaps it wouldn’t be good
