Before Khaleja, Mahesh mainly did family-oriented films during the start of his career and then into action/Experimental films which lead to people saying Mahesh can't do comedy and his comedy is really weak. With Khaleja, he showed a new comedy angle that no one expected from him, and to this day it is one of Mahesh Babu's Finest performances, if not THE finest. The movie was classed as average/flop but his performance was highly recognized by the general audience and it solidified Mahesh as a Complete actor who can do everything.
