Baby this intro is ME! I need to join the support group. I DNF'd The Personal Librarian. I sometimes go back, but I don't think this one will make the cut.
LOL I soft DNFâd a few books this year, but I fully plan to pick them back up later. Sometimes itâs not about the quality of the book-itâs just that the timing or vibe didnât match the season or the headspace I was in. Itâs more about when than what. For me, this happened with The Poppy War, All the Sinners Bleed, Bitter, Akata Woman, and Legendborn. Looking forward to diving back into them when the moment feels right!
I donât DNF often. But when I do, i do with zero regrets. Iâve done more soft DNFâs this year and circled the block on them to give them another chance.
I DNFd A worthy love by A.E.Valdez .. everyone loves the book but the moment she got pregnant I just said nope unneeded ð I think I read to much pregnancy trope back to back and I was tired ! Defo gonna revisit in 2025 !
I Dnf'd The Cooking Gene: a journey through African American culinary history in the Old South, because I was always getting hungry when I read it, it was repetitive and there was another book I really wanted to read so I kept losing focus. Music, in a foreign language: I was no longer in the mood to read it and read the same sentence for awhile and said maybe next time. The Outcasts of time: Not what I thought it was and the writing style was not inviting me to want to continue reading. It took forever to read the first chapter and still didn't finish it. The bookshop Sisterhood: Took forever to get to the goal and some of the characters mindset drove me crazy. I might try again not sure though. I just kept track of unfinished books this year. Usually I just turn them in a forget.
Iâm new to the term soft DNF, so I have probably done thatâĶ but I have a hard time picking them back up lol. Once I label it DNF I donât revisit. But obviously Iâm also not in a rush to pick up the ones I say Iâll read this later aka soft DNF ð
lol it sounds like you havenât done it. the point was, a later version of yourself may really enjoy something the current version of you doesnât. donât close yourself off.
I havenât finished house of bone and rain eitherâĶ Itâs the reader for me and I donât know where weâre going with this storyâĶ I also havenât finished colored televisionâĶ I only made it to the second chapter before I stop listeningâĶ And Iâm going back to Song yet song I didnât give it an adequate amount of time before I went to something that you said we should listen to and I havenât went back yet so I had to restart that
I DNF'd Nearly All the Men in Lagos Are Mad. I learned that I can only enjoy an anthology if it's poetry, the many different tones and writing styles for narrative was irritating my soul.
I DNFâd The Sun sets in Singapore! I was listening to the audio book and just couldnât connect with the characters. On top of that, the narrators sad excuse for a black southern accent was down right offensive ð
Immortal Dark was a hard read for me. I listened to the audiobook and read it on my kindle. The narrator's voice was not pleasant on my ears. I also looked at the main character sideways a lot! Only reason why i finished it is bc it was a book club pick from another group, but i didn't like it.
The only book I DNF this year was The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. It was a book club read. I'm not into Greek mythology, but I tried and got probably half way through. I just want
Okay I can totally understand why you DNFâd that book. I LOOOOVVVEEEE Greek mythology and just loved a different perspective of their story. But I def get it. I DNFâd her other book Circe

Sometimes just putting some space in between DNFân it and trying again does the trick
@ it does.

The nonfiction ones might be worth revisiting but if not thatâs okay too!

I DNF'd Nearly All the Men in Lagos Are Mad. I learned that I can only enjoy an anthology if it's poetry, the many different tones and writing styles for narrative was irritating my soul.
Well, also remember that not all anthologies are that way.
I DNFâd The Sun sets in Singapore! I was listening to the audio book and just couldnât connect with the characters. On top of that, the narrators sad excuse for a black southern accent was down right offensive ð
Damn! Iâve never heard of that book

Sometimes you gotta DNF, even if it's a book club pick.
