Yet more proof that the Mega Drive can do orchestral music and it had to it had to be Matt Furniss and thanks for fulfilling my request for this upload.

Uh, yeah? This sounds realllllly bad compared to the SNES version. Anyone hearing this after hearing the SNES or Sega CD version would conclude the Genesis IS NOT good at doing orchestral music.

@@davidaitken8503 orchestral musician here - this sounds absolutely fine, and i think the genesis pulls off brassy/woodwind sounds better than the SNES can. I'm a huge fan of SNES strings, but that's not everything. This version reminds me a lot of windband music, with its emphasis on brass and percussion. I quite like it!

@@davidaitken8503So you're telling me that soundtracks like Gauntlet IV, Devilish, Shining Force 1, 2, Landstolker, Beyond Oasis, Master of Monsters, Shinajoh and Langrisser 1 and 2 sound bad just because they are orchestral on Mega Drive hardware, you can get it orchestral music well achieved in the FM capabilities of Mega Drive, in Devilish a chorus is achieved only with FM, if you add the PCM capabilities you can get something more solid, but those soundtracks being FM sound too good and not just talking about Mega Drive , also other systems with FM such as X68000, PCB Arcades from the 80s and 90s, MS-DOS Adlib, PC-88/98, etc.

@@alexisynthfm1988 No. What I'm saying is all of those games you just mentioned do a much better job with orchestral sounds than the Genesis version of Hook.

@@doricdream498 Much of the soundtrack to the videogame version of Hook is based off of the actual John Williams score for the movie. I'm simply saying the SNES version does a pretty good job of sounding like it and the Sega CD version has some actual recordings of the real thing. The Genesis version doesn't do a very good job of emulating the actual soundtrack as it was intended.
Would it be unfair for me to say Super Empire Strikes Back on SNES sounds more like the real thing than the NES version of Empire Strikes Back? No.

Might sound crazy, but I actually like this version of the soundtrack better than the sega cd version.

They did a good job with the music, but otherwise this conversion really fell short when compared to the SNES original. I mean, they couldn't even animate the waterfalls!

It's Matt Furniss, he makes good music even if the game is worse than Action 52.

The graphics were just ported from the SNES version and we all know that doesn’t translate well to the Mega Drive, I prefer the MD version due to Matt Furniss doing the conversion and he did a great job and proves the Krisalis sound driver can do orchestral music.

Transparencies and extra color don't translate well to the Mega Drive, but animations? Usually the Mega Drive has MORE frames of animation than the SNES, not less. And yeah, the Krisalis sound driver was amazing. It's easily the best one from outside Japan.

@@zanegandini5350Unless you're a Factor 5 at fairly successfully converting Super Nintendo graphics to Mega Drive limitations, I understand that there are no transparencies and the color palette is limited, but honestly it's a pretty weak job on Core Designs' part, It doesn't even take advantage of the extra resolution of the Mega Drive, the port runs at the same resolution as the original version.
