    Please take me back to 1990. It was so much fun back then. There was something for everyone whether you were a rich high roller or a weekender with $50 in your pocket for the entire weekend.

      You can still gamble with $50. Just play penny to dime keno, it's 1-10 cents a spin. Few other games too.

    I've been to Vegas 3 times, the most recent in October 2022. I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I noticed a VERY big difference in prices post-pandemic. Everything was expensive, even considering the CAD to USD exchange rate. Vegas used to be a relatively cheap destination, but now it's like they're trying to recoup everything they've lost during the pandemic. The airfare and hotel were reasonable , but everything else seemed to be really expensive! Drinks, meals, and attractions were where I noticed a difference. Also, I noticed there were A LOT fewer cocktail waitresses on casino floors offering free drinks to players. Just my observations.

    • @ShowMeVegas
      @ShowMeVegas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great observations. It does seem like they’re trying to recoup pandemic losses, but really it’s just good old supply and demand at work. Demand has been through the roof for the past year or so and people are willing to pay just about anything to get their Vegas fix. It’s crazy. Hopefully it levels out eventually. Thanks for watching!

I went and saw Piff the magic dragon last trip and absolutely loved it. I would happily go see him again.

    Yet they'll still continue to advertise rooms for $50-65/night. What they don't tell you is the resort fees is an additional $50/night. So, essentially, all rooms in Vegas are close to over $100/night. Correct, Vegas is no longer a value destination.

    For anyone interested, as of Jan 2023, Caesar owned venues no longer offer free complimentary parking if you are visiting any of their other venues while staying in one of their properties. Some self-parking locations further off the main strip (Circus Circus, Rio) still have free parking and Resort World has free complimentary parking if you sign up for their free rewards card.

      Vegas is one of those bucketlist items for people to experience once to get it out of their system (it's loud, it's packed & it's overwhelming.) Today, Las Vegas is the world's biggest tourist trap with absolutely everything there constantly trying to grift you from your wallet.
      As a regular long haul tourist destination, Vegas is nowhere near even being close to justify the insane cost. Seeing the above video, even short-hauls for semi-locals is now going the exact same way.

No prices were listed, of course, but if you dug through the room's iPad that had access to a bunch of reference/information/controls you could find the prices. $25 for a Fiji water. $15 for a 12oz can of Coke.... and so on. I took pics because I was so shocked, haha! I didn't buy any, but could easily find myself half drunk or feeling dehydrated in the morning and just grabbing a few bottles to chug. Me and my wife are from western Canada we usually do Sunday - Thursday if we’re just going for a trip (not a special event or concert etc etc. because most events and bigger names are on weekends) so Sun-thurs usually costs 300 usd for hotel ( can get as low as 200 usd depending on what type of room your looking for, we usually go for Luxor - excalibur on our cheap trips and go for the suite with the soaker tub in the room. Flights usually run us approx 300$ to 350$ usd return . And then when you”re there you can spend as little and as much you like, we usually go to atleast one show. Which is about 120$ usd for 2 ppl. So for your base trip on a budget taking in atleast one show is 700 - 750 usd .. that’s not taking in to account meals and gambling.. both you can spend a little on or ALOT on . There are lots of videos on TH-cam that have cheap restaurants right on the strip as well!
    EDIT: we highly recommend getting the rewards card, we use MLIFE because we always use MGM properties.
    We highly recommend because we are not huge spenders and we often get comps for 3-4 nights alot!, Free shows or 25% off shows, free play and $$ in comps that you can use towards meals etc etc)

I have to say that my entire 3 week solo US roadrip (LA, Las Vegas, a bunch of national parks such as Zion, Bryce, Yellowstone, ...), including two-way intercontinental and domestic flights, car rental, food and hotel/motels was just over your total weekend trip cost. I'm glad they had a good time in Vegas. Unless you drive to Vegas and stay on the weekdays, it can be ridiculously expensive staying on the Strip. As a member of Mlife and a playing MyVegas, I get weekdays comped except resort fees and taxes. Because I have a car I eat at the buffets and restaurants the locals go to. Not a big gambler, I only go to casinos giving the correct odds. I don't drink so my cost there is zero. Show wise I usually plan one of the less known shows. A two night weekday stay usually runs the two of us about $400. .

    First off, I want to say your channel has been really informative and helpful to me. I think that you can really do Vegas cheaper than you did. I went once before covid but don’t remember prices as it was years ago. I went this past august and it wasn’t cheap but a good meal was $30-$40 and cocktails were $15. You can definitely eat cheaper if you research on channels like yours. I realize you mentioned this but I didn’t want to put people off to traveling to Vegas because it truly is a good value, if you are careful for a nice resort stay .

    In 2008, wife and stayed in Las Vegas from Dec 22 to 29, package deal, flight and hotel, from Calgary, stayed at Flamingo, go room, the package cost us $850, spent another maybe $1000 for food, entertainment, gambling, $45 taxi to hotel and airport, so overall I'd say $2000 total, hate to think what same trip cost now, plus at this time u received a coupon book at check in for food and beverages etc, we mostly ate food at the miracle mile, the 3 shows we went too, carrot top, legends show, Penn and teller, so our 1 week with hotel flights and expenses cheaper than weekend stay, now that tells the prise increases, same trip now I bet would cost $5000

    Went to Vegas twice in 2021 and twice in 2022. Airfare was SUPER cheap during early 2021. I paid around $200 round trip from BWI to Vegas. Wearing a mask was a small nuisance that I was able. to overlook. I went in February 2022, because I noticed I had enough "Rapid Rewards" with Southwest to cover my departing flight... Except when I went in August 2022 I noticed that everything was a lot more expensive. Including airfare, that is.

And got broke down palace. Plus. You have got to watch how they bill you. I got charged for mini bar stuff. I did not use. They shook me down like the mafia. Rooms were dated. It took 45 minuet's for the tub to fill. Dirty carpet. Peeling headboards . I could go on and on. But this was the Otavious tower and I was expecting more. Not le$$. If Vegas is going to charge more. And they doing it right dam now. They have got to do better by the customer. And deliver! I know several people that would go to Vegas regularly. Now they put the stop on that. And go to the casino's in the south. I am not sure I want to go back myself. After this terrible trip I had. But. You will be paying more in Vegas. You won't be able to get around it!

    Got back two weeks ago. It is not just the increase in prices, it is the dismal service wherever you go. Fewer servers, hotel staff, no housekeeping unless you ask for it and even then, you will have to ask more than once, 50% increase in Resort Fee. When I asked a staff member what I was getting extra for the 50% increase in Resort Fees and he told me I was getting 50% more ripped off. The front line staff are wonderful, in spite of the hotel management not hiring enough help. I had a hard time tipping when the service was so bad, although not the staffs fault. Very sad indeed.Certainly won't be going back as often. I can get my gambling done at a local casino.

Resort Fees (what a way to hide a tax, and for what exactly?) and fod/restaurant costs which are attrocious...BUT the problem is, WE ALL STILL GO, so the hotels and resturants get away with it. I get fully comped but I still pay attention to prices and deals so I can share with my friends when they visit. I also go during the week when it's a tad slower. Eating at places like food courts can save you big over eating at the fancy sit down places. Doing things like stocking your fridge from things from Walgreens water, drinks , snacks also saves money. All the hotel convention halls, including new and FB now being built, are going to sit empty because conventions are chosen based on how cheap they are to go to, and that’s why Vegas was popular. It used to be relatively cheap. Companies won’t choose LV if it grows too expensive to go there. That’s actually how we got into Vegas, my husband and I went to the big psych NP convention and fell in love with LV. Also, people might still go there, but they surely won’t go as much. I stopped patronizing all Mlife properties maybe 3 years ago, when they took my Gold status and whacked it down to Sapphire. You had a dirty room at MGM? I can relate. The last MGM property I stayed in was ... Bellagio. July of 2020, just after the casinos reopened after covid. I arrived in my room - which had that stupid 'seal" of sanitizing on it - to find a days-old french fry on the floor. When you said they charged you for the upgrade to get out of a room THEY failed to clean? THAT would have been cause for me to go down and have a loud chat with guest services. I now frequent Wynn Resorts almost exclusively.
    The reason, I think, it's getting more expensive in Vegas? So many of these hotels are being bought up and split into an ownership group and then a separate management group. Vici Properties buys the actual land these hotels sit on. And then Vici hires a "Management Group" - such as Apollo - to "manage" the day-to-day operations of these hotels and casinos. Vici has bought up so many properties on the strip it's hard to keep up. The ones I know they bought are MGM, Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, Caesars, Venetian, Palazzo. Probably more. They have farmed out management of these properties to groups like Apollo. One casino host at Venetian said to me that what she used to decide to offer her customers as comps and incentives now has to go through some company board in another state to be "approved" before she can offer anything. In the end, the expenditures by all these companies is being recouped by offering less comps, running tighter slot machines, and raising prices to shore up their outlays of BILLIONS of dollars. That's really why I stay at Wynn whenever I can. They are still owned by the same ownership group and haven't sold out to Vici.

    • @ShowMeVegas
      @ShowMeVegas  ปีที่แล้ว

      The ownership structure has actually allowed companies like MGM Resorts and Caesars Entertainment to de-leverage and focus MORE on operating their properties. Vici is merely a landlord and the management of the MGM and Caesars properties is completely unchanged. MGM and Caesars have complete autonomy in running their hotels, they simply don't own the land anymore.
      Apollo is a completely different circumstance, as they bought the operating rights of the Venetian from Las Vegas Sands Corporation. THAT is why things changed there, because the Sands Corp. left town altogether. We're totally with you on Wynn, as it is the nicest and best operated hotel in Las Vegas. Thanks for watching!

    I am an old fart and have visited Las Vegas many times from childhood through adulthood. It was at one time, a very cheap excursion and fun. It was exotic for the time period, but now I suspect most would find it dull if it had stayed the same. Although I think everyone should go at least once simply because it is an experience one does not find elsewhere. But for me, it is too crowded, too expensive, and not much fun if one gambles. You could play the machines for hours on a little and eventually lose, but you had playtime. Now, god, you are done with in minutes before you have to lay out more cash. This, to me, is not fun.

      100% correct! My solo trip to LV in August ‘22 was nice bc I was by myself and had my time to myself…but I found the Strip to be…dirty and full of folks harassing visitors. Not for me anymore - will find a better place to vacation.

    I can drive to Vegas. Sure 3-5 hrs dependent on which one I pick but a $660 speeding ticket is not in my game plan
