    Hi Lucas, we did a day walk up to Solomon's Gate last summer, and your right the first part of the walk is fairly hard work. Hoping to do a 4-5 day walk basing ourselves at Dixons in March this year. Thanks again for a great video.

      No worries! I reckon the fact my nose was runny and I had a bit of a cough wasn't helping on that climb as well. I'm keen to go back and head up Solomon's throne, as well as the temple.

    Yeah, it's a bloody amazing place to hike - and so many places to hike once you're there!!!

    Great stuff! When I was in collage we did the walls in the summer and then again in the snow. Was fantastic to see it at it's two extremes.

    I can tell from the excitement in your voice - the first time I got up to the WoJ, I was speechless at how beautiful it was...

      That stretch of track from Herods Gate to Dixon's kingdom... The highlight of the trip.

    How do you generally deal with the snakes?

    • @LucasChamberlain
      @LucasChamberlain  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most of the time, snakes do all the hard work for you! They'll usually move out of my way without me having to take evasive action. Sometimes you have to just wait for them to move. Other times you can move around it. As long as you're prepared for the unlikely event of a snake bite (such as bringing a locator beacon plus a very strong compression bandage), then there's not a whole lot more you can do. Other than paying attention to where you place your feet haha

      @@LucasChamberlain I have been bitten 2x in the Tassie bush but I never wore gaitors. My last bite was fishing on a small stream. The first bite was a dry bite but the last bite the venom did get me a little but again I was lucky. Do you run into many snakes out there.

      I've seen quite a few, but only a couple of small whip snakes on this particular trip. The closest encounter was coming down the buttongrass off The Thumbs where I nearly stepped right onto a large tiger snake. That would have been trouble as I hadn't actually been trained in first aid back then and I may have responded in the wrong manner.

      @@LucasChamberlain it pays to do some mock practice because when u get bitten and you check for a bite mark......all my training went out the window and I did everything wrong even though I knew it was not the right thing to do. Panic had taken charge. Apparently if I had all the venom injected which is usually on the second bite then I would have died. I am just thinking you are out there a lot and it pays to run emergency scenarious out in the bush. Anyway don't let me put you off, keep getting out there and living the dream while your young and fit. I enjoy watching your videos.
