Katrina lost her husband Mike Shapiro last November. He was a drummer and music producer. He taught at the LA Academy of Music where he was also Vice President. Director of Education and Dean of Students. He was also a professor at the Herb Alpert School of Music.
Kristina has Bells Palsy. This was the reason she could not appear at the Ellen’s show at the time.

thanks for this reaction, Matt and Daniel!!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ i miss you reacting to Katrina. a lot of things happened with her and one of those is the passing of her husband last November, so what you're seeing right now is just one of Katrina's performances after her "come back" from taking a break. she became a wife and a widow in a span of 6 months but if you didn't have an idea, watching this video, you wouldn't think that. something tragic happened to her. as a fan, I'm really happy she is back in her element again.

Currently the best vocal arrangement by Katrina of a duet. The duet mashup of "I'll Never Love Again/Without You" youtu.be/watch?v=smFHk_L-mNE with Eumee and the earlier duet of "Flashlight" youtu.be/watch?v=AS9XJbDW57c with Monique were equally brilliant, following more or less the same Katrina style of slow build, two climaxes and then a perfectly calm outro to end the experience. Kat is given with her talent. Ever since I watched this cover, I clearly saw how Jessica improved so much. Her tone got even rounder and her voice got darker. Putting them together is just a good job. Both are powerful singers!

Katrina's husband, mentor, and manager-died about 11 weeks ago -- she is trying!
I think you gentlemen have compelling sound, especially when you sink your teeth into the meat of the song and drag out the passion. I have been a musician going on for 60 years and not much will really get my attention, however, you guys make me stop and listen.
Oh yes, Katrina is singing this about 90 days after her husband has died - very emotional in that context, I think. Not that all emotional songs require someone passing away, but it helps if it can be arranged
