@@casio007. One of the reasons, I find Afghanistan so special, is among others the great variety of nature, with steep mountain passes in the east and the south, deserts in e.g. Kandahar, the wide steppes of the north.

Well... It is the second most dangerous country in the world, according to the 2018 GPI report. So i guess safety;)
The Wakhan corridor is quite safe though.t. The Taliban never made it that far. Neither did the Soviets.

I fell in love with Afghanistan, I was there for over a year. I'll never forget the majestic mountains, beautiful people, and amazing food. I've never seen so many stars in my life, Iceland and the Grand Canyon come second. I will go back again.
Where was it in Afg that had the best dark skies for stargazing?
This reminds me of when we packed our bags left our homes 35 years ago, passing Kuner province, from Kabul to Peshawar,, another must see places, where I like to revisit.. maybe this time don’t have to hide from Russian fighter jets up above, and their soldiers with our own communist collaborators, with heavy heart of not having our dad, who was taken from our home at the middle of the night with no return 😔.. at check points.. maybe at a peaceful time, with a camera, and my kids, who are so curious about my journey .. taking them to memory land,,,

Samir Saidi afghanistans average elevation is about 6000 feet the central Highlands around the salang pass parwan and bamiyan reach 12000 feet but badakhshan province is entirely in the Hindu kush mountains so it's all mountains and very beautiful the most beautiful part of afghanistan along with Kumar nuristan and the salang pass 😊
