I remember when this movie came out. My town had a huge skate contest. My brother was sponsored at the time. Tony Alva came down and watched the competition. And went and watched Lords of Dogtown with my brother and his team. Watching my brother I grew a passion for the z boys. Jay boy Adam's is always going to be my favorite. Rip to a legend!
As someone who was there....Dogtown during the 70s who went to school surfed and skated with the Zboy crew i can say that Jay was the best skater. He also ripped on a surfboard. Alva was a great surfer...Sarlo...uh
There’s something special about the respect the rest of the Z team has for Peralta that even Alva sticks up for him here as an opponent when they see he gets disqualified when he says what do u mean he tied with me before punching that guy in the face lol Such a lovable movie that only skateboarders can really understand
Some my not realize but all the characters depicted are old and also make cameo scenes. The cop taking the 1 dollar bill. The duder getting smacked with the orange. Jay and tony at the moms house party. And the dude in the food fight scene.

Always liked that even though Peralta wasnt on the team Alva still stood up for him saying we tied didn't care about the win just cared that his friend seemed to get the short end of the stick

I hate Chino, he does that to Sid just to be a dick. Skip was just having fun and liked Sid. On a side note Skip was excellent with customer service. That bum wasn't buying anything.
yeah wasn't because he didn't fit into the stereotypical skater at the time, he always made sure safety was a priority and I think in the beginning that was frowned apon.@@iskatevans95
I dont know about hate. street skaters didnt like him and didnt really respect vert skaters. When he came out with his own boards and clothing HAWK which i skated it was seen as poser gear. But everyone respected him as the goat of vert when he busted out that 900. Goats like Mullen hold him in extremely high esteem.@@iskatevans95
Stacy Peralta is a mad genius. He doesn't get enough credit for the things he's brought to all humanity.

they all grew up together in dogtown, they knew all knew the value of friends
You can see a bit of a prototype Ledger Joker come out at around 7:28 lmao, very cool
Jay was doing tricks no one had ever seen before, shame these judges had no appreciation for the future
He didn’t do a single wheelie, he didn’t do a single compulsory trick
In the real competition they actually all scored high because the judges loved it. All the other contestants hated it though
Their little tricks didn't age well, did they?

Could someone explain why Jay got 2nd place when that curly haired dude scored higher but got 3rd place?
2nd place in slalom totally different event not shown in the film.
Jay didn't do what they wanted to do because he invented tricks
