the instrumental version of this song was in the outro of a drew gooden video. i was instantly entranced. i'm so thankful i was able to discover this band. instantly their music makes me feel a type of way. it's amazing.
That's how I found them too and I've been obsessed ever since. Conversation Piece is unrelentingly intense, raucous, and musically heavy, No Place sacrifices some intensity for being immensely thought provoking and dynamic, and DIVISI is simultaneously gut wrenching and uplifting with its soaring swells of music and poetry
Kurt is so much better in this band, its like he was meant to be there all along. The lyrics, the soul, it sounds so genuine. This band is the perfect combination.
Kurt Travis was the best thing that ever happened to Dance Gavin Dance, with A lot like bird and his solo carrier, he proves that everything he touch turn to gold, he's a brilliant musician
"Face forward falling straight for the pavement, mouth open catching death just to taste it. Twist my body to align with the stars, this is my favorite part. This is my favorite part: suspended close to earth but very far. This is my favorite part. Once we touch the ground we forget who we are." I was thinking about these lyrics as I was riding the bus home from work today. I started tearing up. They are so brilliant.
I remember months ago just blasting this at 2-3 in the morning because my insomnia just kept me in my head and this song just freed it for real... あリガト ALLB..
+Elijah Radt insomnia is a response to a life lived in disregard. i'm not saying this as an outside observer, or some detached point of view, i'm saying this because i know, because i couldn't sleep for a few months. then i quit my job, stopped giving a fuck, let people, whoever, family, friends, whatever, think what they want, but. my point, you can't deny what you know inside. thats fucking pointless. what we feel is the only thing that is real, nothing that is projected onto you from the external means a damn thing. thats just how it is in the world. what i'm trying to convey is that, there is something within you that is trying to tell you you need to fix/correct/change/right/true/balance; something in your life, and you can't sleep because there is something within you desperately trying to show you this, pleading for you to listen, to stop what doing to you. it doesn't matter.. as long as the stimulus stops, it doesn't matter, just remove/heal it. for anyone even if not for you.
First time I heard this song was several years ago. A friend picked us all up tripping and blasted this while we drove past all these beautiful Christmas lights, we ended up at a cemetery and later one of our friends died and was buried in that same cemetery. RIP Kyle. That night was one of my happiest memories with you.
"L'appel du vide" - The call of the void. L'appel du vide is that tiny voice that tells you to jerk the steering wheel just to the right and take a flying leap off the ledge...that inclination to walk right into the ocean and never return...the call of the Siren song/The urge to jump from high places when they encounter them, for example when close to the edge of cliffs. well....that hit me like a bag of bricks
L'appel du vide (the call of the void), they included this in the lyrics. I love this band. And for those of you wondering this French phrase describes the strange feeling of wanting to jump off when in a high place.
A Lot Like Birds are true artists...they create such compelling music...every song is meaningful, magical and just amazing...you can just feel the suspense; creepy, yet subtle at the same time - cannot wait to listen to the whole album.
This song both depresses the ever-lasting fuck out of me yet is also easily one of my favourites by this band, maybe even ever. As someone who spent their entire childhood moving at least every 2-3 years until 8th grade, I still have issues being able to connect to one place as home... and this album speaks to me so hard because of that.
@Liberation Music doesn't need to rhyme.... and yes, they are yelling and talking, because the voice is capable of many things and only utilizing one style is quite limiting...
I'm writing this too late, but I really fell in love with this band, I haven't heard them for about 3 or 4 years and now I just remembered them a few minutes ago, but dude, I feel like I have regained part of my soul
Wow. I have listened to this song (and album) countless times. I regularly cycle through pretty much everything Kurt Travis done vocals for. Dance Gavin Dance, Royal Coda, A Lot Like Birds, Stolas, etc. Point being- his work is a staple in my library. But just now I caught Kuroi Ledge on shuffle and something struck me like a punch to the ear: 0:30 to 1:05 I never really dove into how much range and manipulation Kurt puts out vocally. I think it's fairly underrated. Especially with A Lot Like Birds. Not just range- but sometimes it's like a different person belting it out and makes you question if it's actually him. And of all the groups he's been with, I'm settled that this group brought out the best of his talent. Pretty sure it was Cory Lockwood that brought it out of him too.
This song is totally gorgeous. I was in tears the first time I heard it, and it gives me nearly continuous chills as I listen even now. I'm so glad I discovered this band - they just might become a new favourite!
Holy Jesus This song is somehow unlocking memories I had shoved away... This sounds like something my dad would've listened to back when times seemed good... He'll still listen to it, it's just not the same, y'know?
This is the first song I've ever listened to which made me cry. This is beauty. This is true art. Music that can express such emotion and really cause you to think about your life due to it's lyrics and the way the music is put together. Thank you A lot Like Birds for making the best music in the world. Never stop.
So here I am 10 years later.. and this guy still has a grip on me. It's taking me back to exactly the time period I was in when I orginally listen to it. its making me really sad... I know its partially the nostalgia taking over , but I wish I understood it more. It's also really crazy to see how far TH-cam has come... that Im literally commenting on the SAME video 10 years later seeing my comment
Around minute 3:40 my heart explodes in my chest with those crescendoing synths which harmonize so beautifully with the exploding vocals. people are so confused looking at me in my cubicle going banans over the multiorgasmic state my ears are reaching, not knowing the bliss you are inducing Thank you sooo sooo much ALLB!
It was really bold for the label to release this song instead of an upbeat, more catchyish song. This album is going to be a masterpiece. The lyrics really hit home too.
ya dude , these guys are nothing like dgd , a lot like birds stay true to there sound , they are def in a class of there own , a all time fav band of mine ever since I heard them on mp3.com years ago. def one of the best artist out today for sure

I can tell this band is gonna be more "deep" than DGD is, with the playfully nature of some of DGD's songs, like pounce bounce or thug city, etc.
the upbeat tones are something that loads of bands do its not a trait of dgd. plus this band is miles better than dgd and thats saying a lot because i love dgd
no way man. Tilian Pearson has revived and redefined that band...don't even try to forget about Will Swan, Matt Mingus, or Jon Mess. Their new album is so freaking good. Not to take away from the rest of your comment about how good Kurt is, but Tilian is perhaps the best fit for that band now.
@@BlackChanal Kuroi Yokai means Black Yōkai. Yōkai are a class of supernatural monsters, spirits, and demons in Japanese folklore. The suicide forest you think of is 青木ヶ原 (Aokigahara) which literally means Blue Tree Moor / Blue Tree Wilderness.

McSpiderMan I guess he’s into the progressive post-hardcore scene in general ‘cause I saw him comment on a song off HTS’s last album.
2024 and this still one of my favourite songs ever in the genre
just discovering in 2020 as a 25 year old. my 15 year old self would have went nuts over these guys sound lol.
exactly the same for me lol
I'm 34 and going nuts over them now. Lol age is only a number young'un
Check out Intronaut, you might like them
Time flies, huh?
I discovered them in 2013 when they had just released their second album I was 19. Definitely, did help me cope with mental illness
The raw emotion of this song is almost overwhelming.
This song simply is the beauty of creation and artistry merged into sound.
Thats why it'll be the last song Aldon ever hears 🌠

Hes amazing with Royal Coda, specifically the newest album "To only a few a first"
