This series finale just told me that not all shows need to be saved. This should have ended at Season 2
I love that dance with Cam and keisha
I think Damon, Thea, and Nate in regards to resolving their character was awkward. Simone only wants some who runs after her. Even if we had a 4th season, Lando would be doing the heavy lifting in their relationship. I wanted better for JR, but he is who is, and I’m glad Keisha chose herself.
Once they shoe-horned Damon and Simone's storyline, Thea was just discarded like trash
All that character development from being badass Tennis girl to badass Tennis girl with feelings and chip on her shoulder was nice and we saw it the first time we saw her and damon interact in that black out episode
My favorite Cam moments on AAHC was the dance scene when Damon could not keep up season1. The scene with he and coach Marcus during the bomb scare season 2. Finally the proud nod he gave Gabby after she slapped JR.
I’ve always thought the writers in the AA universe messed up by having Simone give her son up for adoption. I thought that added layers to her character and would’ve made her college journey more interesting and not just boy-centered. I never really bought into her tennis storyline bc it was introduced to us too late after meeting her on AA.
Thea definitely deserved more. I feel most robbed of her and Gabby’s characters and what could have been for them both.
Amara also felt unresolved to me. I definitely got the sense that she’s willing to play stepmom to Marcus’ son, but they didn’t even have the decency to firmly establish that. It feels like her individual story and growth were sacrificed too. I feel like if they were going to do that, then she should’ve just stayed with Keisha’s dad and followed him to NY.
Cam is definitely the MVP. I also love how far he and Simone’s relationship has come (from her baby’s father’s teammate to Simone’s “brother”).

And in regards to Cameisha I loved their development not only this season but throughout the show. Cam definitely hard carried the relationship, he was fighting for his life. I loved that Keisha was consistent in being the one lacking and having Cam meeting her where she was; there aren’t many people willing to work with their partner but it’s a testament to how much Cam loves her and I like aahc depicting that kind of relationship. (One she was sabotaging..)
Completely agree with your thoughts about the tennis team being reliant on outside influences in order to win/perform. They had no right to her medical information. Simone treating Damon like that made me sad, because I can’t see him ever doing that to her. And when Simone got upset that he wouldn’t put his heart out just because she did I was like..why are we surprised? You’ve never made yourself a safe place for his vulnerability.
I was proud of Lando playing it safe with Simone because while I want him to get the girl I don’t want that girl to be Simone. He’s come along way since his introduction, he’s made real bonds and relationships outside of Simone which I wanted for him. Him and Keisha last episode was a pleasant surprise. He always came off as a very lonely character and very isolated, which reminded me of what Damon said about pitchers being on their own island. That’s why when he first came and tried to connect with Simone and sit with them I was like, oh you want community but just a lil asocial and I can relate.
They did Nate dirty because didn’t we just establish with Ezra that we respect the victims’ desires for anonymity? Also why would you go through that man’s notes. Why did they do Damon and Thea like this they feel devoid of the strong personality they had previously, they were my favorites to watch so to watch them be just so centered around Simone is beyond disappointing.
They could’ve cut the Noah story if it wasn’t going anywhere but I enjoyed Marcus and his mom’s convo. They could’ve gave that time to Cam and his future.
I love your breakdowns and the thought provoking conversations you have on lives. I always look to your videos for intelligent and nuanced takes as well as character analyses. It’s sad to see the show go especially with the Storylines the had with Cam, Lando, Keisha, Nate, and Gabby which tbh what I suffered through the others for, they abandoned Thea and Damon so they were what I looked for to. Simone had moments tho. Again love you for everything you contributed to this fandom.❤️🥰💕
I think they could've saved Thea storyline if we left her in s2 😭
Damon being gone was the best decision. Team Lando and Simone.
I agree with your breakdown of these characters. Am highly disappointed and disheartened by the poor write off of the season finale. It felt as if they did not know how to piece the storyline together, and also rushed! Oh well....😑😑
Will watch the Live After Show though.

I’m proud of being able to showcase the incredible talent we had on the show - Geffri Maya, Mitchell Edwards, like these are my babies who’ve been with me since All American. So, to be able to see them fly on their own show…where they took them above and beyond what we were giving them on the page, that’s a source of pride for me. Truthfully, across the board, with all the talent on the show. The fact that we got to showcase Netta’s dancing, the fact that we got to showcase Mitchell’s singing, the fact that we got to showcase Martin Bobb-Semple’s photography. He’s an amazing photographer. That is part of the reason why we made that part of the character. So I’m very proud that we got to explore the well rounded talent of all of the amazing actors that we had on the show through their characters and just give the world a little taste of what HBCUs and all of them have to offer. They all have such bright futures. I’m their biggest fan. I’m so excited for everything that comes next for them. I think that’s what I’m most proud of.
Okay this gonna be a long one I gave the episode a 7 the only thing that saved it was Cam and seeing Damon. Honestly this series finale felt like no resolute ending Cam and JR kinda ended on a cliffhanger sort of. Speaking of JR I’m disappointed on how everything played out in s3 it felt like a regression considering how he improved as a character in. S2 from his sickness to how he got close to Keisha. I understand how it could happen given her being his donor but I wish they would have stayed friends and not dive into this emotional cheating affair and then blow up his relationship with Cam and Gabby so in the end I’m left to think that he always been a Snake and two faced which I’m struggling with. I understand that there are no perfect black male characters but I don’t know if this the direction they should have gone even if the story was compelling but I agree with your assessment of JR passive attitude but I’m gonna stand in my opinion of this whole situation . Damon got his goals but I wish he got a resolute ending with Simone just me. Cam was excellent in this episode being there for Keisha and I’m of the feeling that they will get back together. Finally Nate ended sad but was needed Simone and Lando which I knew would happen Thea was just there and No confirmation about Marcus and Amara I will miss this show and I look forward to your other videos on these characters ❤🙏
Thea storyline was better in season 1 and 2 the writer didn’t have get rid of Damon and Thea as a couple they could have been together in the pro
I want a spin off! 😭💔 or have them switch with the Original All American.. because All American without Spencer for season 7?! He’s pretty much the WHOLE show. So just have them switch and renew Homecoming and cancel the Original. The finale for the original felt like the end anyway, and with Homecoming I didn’t even know it was the finale.. we could go on more with Homecoming 💔😭
I am so glad this show is finally off the air. The storylines was dry. The acting was getting goofy. It just seems like it was forced. I’ve been over this show I’m glad it’s finally gone. Long overdue. Now all American needs to get out of here that should’ve ended when Tay Diggs left.
