Your ideals and honesty is commendable Ashutosh.
For years, intellectuals have been criticised as armchair intellectuals - it's easy to criticize sitting in your drawing room but, you can't do anything on the ground to change anything.
AAP formation was an attempt to change that.
Most of the Idealists, like you and me in the party have deserted it, lending credence to the label - armchair or drawing room intellectuals.
Arvind Kejriwal, Saurabh, Manish, Atishi and many others are still slugging it out. Huge respect to them.
Whether Kejriwal has changed politics or politics changed him, it's not a case of "either or". Yes, politics has changed Kejriwal, but Kejriwal has also changed politics. That's why Modi had to build that school set during Gujarat elections.

Kejriwal is the new-age Mahatma Gandhi.. he did change the politics and governance in the country substantially.
Even though AAP did not form govt in Karnataka, AAP's ideology is ruling Karnataka right now.

It could also be argued that Arvind Kejriwal is still in the path of what he set out to do, molding himself into what is needed to survive but still be able to make some impact, although the not the ideal one(nothing is ideal in this world) and on the other hand others have left the journey because it's too hard for them or it's not the idealistic experience they envisioned from outside.

Arvind kejriwal came to political discourse to change such discourse. His political discourse has been adopted by even Congress Party which is the oldest political party in India and won election in Karnataka and is continuing with same in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. His political promise to directly give poor people what elected political leaders are getting. In very short period, he has become national level political leaders. Future is with him and his party AAP.

I m 21 years old and whenever they speak about new generation , I listen it very carefully and always feels good that I m watching this kind of content and not having that rigid mindset because I think this is age in which my core political mindset and understanding of things will develop and after listening to these kind of views it feels like I m on the right boat.
I am in RSS and its aplesant surprise to hear Ashutosh's view. In debates he comes out as a bitter hater of Hindutva, but here I only see him a man who differs strong with us and believes in his convictions. I dont have to agree with him to respect him now !!

What corrupt practices? Satyendra Jains case is from 2012 transaction (no Delhi govt case), Ed cbi have failed to attach a single asset or money trail in Sisodiya case. Fool don’t u know what’s happening?
Really great interview, great questions and equally great answers! One concern raised by Barkha is that the political environment has become so polarized that it has forced journalism to become that dirty. Ashotosh answered that the solution to that is technology or digital media like youtube. That really empowers people. So only good thing will come out of it when this polarized environment will end. That will happen when people will be fed up. Because the root cause of polarized environment is anger. The big brother of anger is terror which many people used and got devastated. ISIS and Taliban are the extreme forms of it, Pakistan is in a downward spin because of this. Just like sex sells, so is terror. In India it's still in anger form, which still sells, many elections in the last 8-9 years are won due to that. But the obvious outcome of anger is that it becomes unmanageable after sometime, it divides the same people who promoted it together. The whole environment becomes so spiteful, full of infighting that people simply get fed up and just want to throw these people out. It will take a little time, but it will happen eventually.
Barkha is going great guns and going from strength to strength with each episode, esp since her monumental interview with the famous Pak journalist Wajahat Khan .
She truly does a great balancing act and plays neutral in a most mature msnner, despite whatever personal biases she may have,
One wishes her that her alliance with Shekhar Gupta would have stayed, it would hv been a treat to watch both.
And so impressed with Ashutosh whom one thought was a mere poison spewing machine against Modi, frustrated by AAP politics.
He brings out a fairly balanced perspective of the AK phenomenon and calls a spade where due.
The interview does well to portray him as a man of deep thought and firm convictions indeed.

Court has dismissed the petition filed by the CHIEF SECRETARY against AAP. Asutosh should note this point. He wanted to be Rajya Sabha but that didn't happen. Good for AAP he resigned.

Today's political situation in our country is so sad and threatening and it's social impact so disturbing. Rightly said in this interview , there are nw camps every whr. Earlier as friends, family members we had ideological/political difference but we never let them overshadow our behavior with each other. Now societal behavior is being specifically defined by the party in power.

We know how Barkha was reporting at the time genocide and ethnic cleansing of Pandits was happening in Kashmir. She tried very hard to justify their cleansing after enjoying hospitality of both separatists and Farooq . However I now respect her after she launched Mojo as balanced views of both right wing and left wing are shown .

At one point you say" after 2014 "the party and its troll" went after some journalists and you also admit that without proof baseless allegations were made and the image of some were completely tarnished. So basically you all are rascals fighting with each other for your own objectives (whatever it is). Then why take moral high ground; just because someone was more aggressive and powerful and defeated you in the game.
Both of you..specially Barkha is considered one of the best journalist in recent past but since the time you have chosen left wing and became a part of so called elite club which has a typical mindset of their own..it started turning negative for you. Ashutosh on other hand is genuine but still searching his ground..confused a bit.

What does Ashutosh say about RSS? RSS is not a political party. It is a cultural organisation. Members coming from RSS join various political party. There are many RSS or ex RSS members in Congress party.

I loved this !! I don't know whether today's new generation will ever consider that Journalism was so dignified seeing the current anchors or actors who call themselves JOURNALIST !!
Previous generation just had NDTV and DD news. What options did the previous generation have to compare in the first place ? All we got was one sided video of the NDTV. Thank God there are more channels to give diverse views. Can see why Barkha shifted bases.

@@harshadronawat4766 When did THEY question the government? NDTV has been a mouthpiece for Congress for as long as I've known. The amount of lobbying they have done is unprecedented.
That's why I said, thank God we have an alternative now. The audience can pick and choose whom to listen to and whom not to. Then they can make their own views. No news channel is unbiased. The problem before was the only news channels that were there were biased leaning left/congress/liberal.
Now just because everyone has alternatives, people are losing their minds and calling them names. I'd say we finally have parity if anything.

Arvind Kejriwal has a very strong will power, stubbornness just like Mahatma Gandhi had. Small stature men but very strong will power. Show me one politician today who can stage dharna in Cold Delhi winters out on the road at night like Arvind Kejriwal did. Surely one change Arvind Kejriwal has done to change the political discourse of this country. Earlier no political party or politicians would talk about schools, good healthcare facilities etc.
I think Kejriwal is honest, articulate ,smart politician. The weakness of every political party is how to fund the running the party & election expenses & their own family expenses when out of power.
Politicians acting as commission agents & contract agents are the rule of the day, is difficult for middle class parties like AAP, but is lucky it got Delhi with revenue sources, difficult will be Punjab.
With out organization these NON_BJP parties have extreme difficulty to fund their activities, CASTE is the main back bone.
Anti BJP- Christian & Muslim votes are these caste parties & congress are after along with candidates caste.
If a journalist sticks to questioning who is in authority is to commended. Even at highest levels the media has agenda & supporters - this is how democracy works with in certain limits = it is like TUG OF WAR.
For more than 9 decades how media abused RSS & its associates is to be taken into consideration for shutting of certain media by MODI establishment.
One should not for get how Radio & TV were under one family dictates.
