Great job on the new depot. There's so many neat little touches in there - great attention to detail. I loved the idea for a tarp out the back of the depot. Little things like really make a difference.
many thanks.. the tarp was a happy accident. After doing a little spay work I took my gloves off and a bit flung off onto the depot car park which inspired me.. lol yeah its little things that make it worthwhile... really a depot should have tons more detail.. but I have only so much patience lol... Cheers again Garry
Hello Gary, I’m just re-watching these loco depot vids as, I’m now fully switched over to OO and working (when time allows) in my loft. The first scenic section that I’ve started is a small diesel loco depot. Your mini series is a great inspiration and full of great ideas (yes for pinching 😁) I’m working on a DRS themed shed as class 68s are a favourite of mine & it means I can run a good selection of older British Diesels. So far I’ve managed to get a Vi-Trains 37 BR Blue & a Class 47 in DRS compass both second hand to start things off. Anyway just thought I’d share that with you as I really appreciate your take on railway modelling. TH-cam is a great tool for formulating a plan of how I want things to look, I unfortunately do not have a mind which plans too far ahead, instead I’d rather start and see what develops! Keep up the great work👍 Cheers John B
Hi John Thanks for your comment it’s very appreciated. Great to hear your journey has started and I started in the same way with the back Depot scene which pretty much developed the whole layout so sounds like your heading in the right direction Keep happy and keep up the modelling All the best Garry 👍
Hi Garry, very impressive and the attention to detail is quite something. You obviously have a good impression of what one should look like. Lots of ideas for me there! Love the subtle weathering on the 37,s. Keep them coming and thank you. Jerry
Hi Jerry, you are too far to kind my friend.. I do have a confession on the 37, I was lucky to win this loco on ebay in weathered condition for a real steal price as no one else bid on it.. one of my favourite loco's... so I can't claim that one... I did go overboard on detail but wanted something to be noticed when filming from a distance.. certainly came out better than expected.. which really surprised me... lol have a fab weekend when it arrives.. all the very best Garry
Many Thanks Davie, it certainly looks better than the old carriage shed. yes... and a hell of a lot cheaper making myself as apposed to buying.. All the best Garry..
I like all the small details you are adding.. most the stuff that I would say I would forget to add. nice video. I like shout out videos.. I be watching for that one
Many thanks sparky, think I went overboard with detail but certainly makes photo's a little more interesting.. 😉 love the live streams your doing, your becoming a master streamer.. 😀 cheers buddy.. Gaz
Another exceptional video. Like how much detail you've been able to incorporate into the shed area. I wouldn't be able to do the amount of detail you have done. Keep up the exceptional work.
I had a massive amount of grief with this video, think my laptop is showing old age signs.. lol The extra detailing is because I'm too tight to buy assessors at a ridicules price... lol Look after yourself mate and take care.. Garry
G-day Greg.. your always so kind with your comments, I'm really pleased on how it's all turned out and no doubt I'll add a little more... you know me... lol many thanks again for your support and following... look after yourself.. Garry
Many thanks Mark. certainly better than before and I had a lot of fun building this one... look after yourself and keep your vids going as enjoy following your progress.. all the best Garry
Some really nice touches there Garry, the whole scene is looking excellent. As you know I am building a TMD layout so I am noting all the ideas ready to steal LOL! ...........John
John many thanks for your comment, I will give you a shout out on the next video.. and looking forward to the your depot build, I’ll be able to see where I’ve gone wrong.. lol.. steal away buddy that why we film these things.. all the best Garry 😉👍
In general, I don't think most people worry about anything that is wrong Garry. I would never tell anyone that they have done something wrong unless I was asked a direct question. There are just a few rivet counters who probably don't watch much from other modellers anyway. I believe in the old adage that there is a prototype for everything! ......................John
wow fantastic job Garry !!! the detail is really outstanding..the smallest vice in the world..a can of coke...you've probably opened it too !!...ive watched this come together and its been fascinating to see what can be achieved... amazing well done mate cheers dave
Arr Dave stop it your making me blush.. lol 😂 Cheers mate, your comments are so appreciated.. I really enjoyed making this one.. so now need to find another project.. lol Cheers again.. Garry
Michael, I really need to thank you as your little tip for the buffer stops, it really inspired me to add extra details on this project.. its really appreciated.. 😉😀 Thanks again Garry
Garry, I'm pleased that you found the buffer stop a source of inspiration but I cant take the credit for it, I saw a buffer stop at an exhibition a while back but this one used Code 100 rail but I used Code 75 rail which I think looks better than Code 100. I think the way you have done yours will be a lot stronger than mine, I never thought to leave the original buffer plate in place! The way you painted yours really sets it off. Michael
cheekytek Thanks for the quick reply :) just trying to get and idea as I'm hoping to have my board 4ft x 2ft when I start mine! Currently modelling 009 gauge untill I start on the shed after new year
Your going to be busy in to them new year.. 009 sounds awesome, only you will know what space to utilise or compromise once your shed is complete.. All the best Garry
Cheers buddy, its scratch built platicsrtut & plasticard - with eBay dwarf signal lights.. Brass gantries tend to be a little heavy.. Thanks again Garry
Sadly not, it was (finally) broken up over the summer after being in storage for over a year. I am however slowly converting the loft, aim to have all flooring down and electrics done by Christmas so 2018 is on the timescale for building it :)
Thats a shame.. So your on a new adventure now... .. sounds like you've got it all to plan though so this will take shape very nicely I'm sure.... certainly will keep an eye on your new progress.. I just realised even though i watched your videos i was not subscribed.. how rude of me... lol will tick that little box.. all the Garry
Ar gee thanks for that comment - that really means a lot... Its all about sharing.. The 4TC set is Very nice in deed.. little bit jealous now.. lol. Ive still got my BR 4CEP & 423 NSE, so will have to make do for now... or the wife will kill me.. lol...😁 😆👍
Hi Robert many thanks for your feedback. It was on my mind as pointed out in the video but I do have a few steam locos that I run on the layout so the water tower would be the only fill up point.. the layout is only themed to old oak and not to replicate or I’ll get people saying the opposite. I’ll never win either way lol... Many thanks though as this may be something I change going forward.. all the best Garry
cheekytek , i thought that might be the case. Maybe consider then a road tanker and hose, as that seems to be the portable way of replenishment I've seen in the last 20 years. Keep up the great modelling
great work as always. I do enjoy watching your channel. What brand is the signal gantry (show at 1.20)? really all coming together. you say "we've made"....do you have a helper? lol. wish I did sometimes....but then again they wouldn't do it the way I wanted lol. You do not get the coverage in youtube you deserve....this is actually better than another layout 'xxxxxxx junction', as you're detail is right up my street! Dave
Dave firstly thinks for this comment you’ve totally blown me away to what you said.. 😍👍 The gantry is my own creation just from plastruct materials and some -Halfords aluminium mesh.. And Just added a couple dwarf lights from eBay or some Ekon signals.. The royal We (is me.. )99.9 of the time but my lad has ADHD and sometimes, but very rarely likes to help.. so it’s a We.. for his benefit .. lol 😂 And, as you say - somethings have to be done a certain way.. so help is a hinderance.. Thanks again for your support.. Cheers Garry
some people have fascinations with certain layouts and certain modellers on here..... as per named above....but your layout is better and more realistic. Dave
Hi I made those using small brass rod. I think Ten Commandments sells similar though - other than that I’ve never seen any others around. Hope this helps. Cheers Garry 😉
Hi Garry, could I ask you what you used for the light coloured sandy gravel at the back of the shed where the cars are parked, I have a small area which needs something similar but I cant seem to anything suitable. Thanks in advance Garry Take care mate Michael
Hi Michael I raided a handful sand from an old fire bucket as it had some real fine sand I guess any sand would work Just laid a pva glue base and sprinkled on top, Then spray a touch of water and topped of with pva glue.. Hope it helps All the best buddy
Many thanks for your comment, the layout is themed similar to old oak common set roughly in the BR blue era 70’s, 80’s, 90’s but with a artistic licence to 2001 as its my layout lol... Many thanks again Garry
Yeah... I know Richard he did an amazing job on Everard Junction.. a talented chap.. just a shame the damp caused havoc with the track.. but sure the next episodes are going spring new idea's to all... Do check out Dave at daveclass47 he has a fab layout too... all the best buddy. Garry
Hi Geoff did this resolve it self.. I did have a ton of issues producing this due to HD high Res issues. looking at the vid it should all be with sound.. Let me know if you still a problem.. cheers again... Garry
Subscribed! About to binge watch the rest of your videos, excellent stuff.
Great job on the new depot. There's so many neat little touches in there - great attention to detail. I loved the idea for a tarp out the back of the depot. Little things like really make a difference.

Looks absolutely superb. Hats off to ya. I'm liking the signal gangtree too. Is that a brass / plasticard construction
Cheers buddy, its scratch built platicsrtut & plasticard - with eBay dwarf signal lights..
Brass gantries tend to be a little heavy..
Thanks again Garry

Nice work and a nice video. My only suggestion would be to get rid of the water tower...it seems a bit out of place with the diesels

Hi I made those using small brass rod.
I think Ten Commandments sells similar though - other than that I’ve never seen any others around.
Hope this helps. Cheers
Garry 😉
How long did it take to do all that garry the attention to detail is amazing.
Brian it only took about a week.. but I really enjoyed this cheap little project.. certainly better than before..
