    “You don’t need an AR-15 for self defense.” That myth is one of the biggest imo. Easy rebuttal: crimes (especially home invasions) are constantly committed by more than one person. Those extra rounds could definitely be needed depending on the threat.

    • @XXStrong1
      @XXStrong1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Need is irrelevant when talking about self defense. To quote Colion Noir "In a home defense scenario, I'm not looking for a fair fight." I for one want every advantage to be at my disposal when it's my life or the life of someone I care about at stake.
      I have 30 rounds and the home invader only has 10? Great! Could I get the job done with less? Yes, but why would I want to?

    • @williamreynolds3487
      @williamreynolds3487 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@XXStrong1 but to just say you “want every advantage” is not enough for these people. That’s why I brought up a specific scenario that happens quite a lot where you could absolutely NEED more than 10 rounds. They don’t care what you want. • @ryanlukens9280

      But just ask Joe Red Coat Biden. You only need a double barrel shotgun. Just fire a round in to the air to scare them off. That way you only have on round left to disable everyone else. I mean the McClosky’s (sp?) in St Louis didn’t need all 30 rounds in the AR to defend themselves against several “peaceful protestors” that were so meek they were only able to ALMOST destroy a wrought iron gate.

    Gun control is about racism and slavery
    This Patriotic Veteran approves this mesg
    Gun deaths
    There are 30,000 gun related deaths per year by firearms, and this number is not disputed. The U.S. population is 324,059,091 as of June 22, 2016. Do the math: 0.00925% of the population dies from gun related actions each year. Statistically speaking, this is insignificant! What is never told, however, is a breakdown of those 30,000 deaths, to put them in perspective as compared to other causes of death:
    • 65% of those deaths are by suicide, which would never be prevented by gun laws.
    • 15% are by law enforcement in the line of duty and justified.
    • 17% are through criminal activity, gang and drug related or mentally ill persons - better known as gun violence.
    • 3% are accidental discharge deaths.
    So technically, "gun violence" is not 30,000 annually, but drops to 5,100. Still too many? Now lets look at how those deaths spanned across the nation.
    • 480 homicides (9.4%) were in Chicago
    • 344 homicides (6.7%) were in Baltimore
    • 333 homicides (6.5%) were in Detroit
    • 119 homicides (2.3%) were in Washington D.C. (a 54% increase over prior years)
    So basically, 25% of all gun crime happens in just 4 cities. All 4 of those cities have strict gun laws, so it is not the lack of law that is the root cause.
    This basically leaves 3,825 for the entire rest of the nation, or about 75 deaths per state. That is an average because some States have much higher rates than others. For example, California had 1,169 and Alabama had 1.
    Now, who has the strictest gun laws by far? California, of course, but understand, it is not guns causing this. It is a crime rate spawned by the number of criminal persons residing in those cities and states. So if all cities and states are not created equal, then there must be something other than the tool causing the gun deaths.
    Are 5,100 deaths per year horrific? How about in comparison to other deaths? All death is sad and especially so when it is in the commission of a crime but that is the nature of crime. Robbery, death, rape, assault are all done by criminals. It is ludicrous to think that criminals will obey laws. That is why they are called criminals.
    But what about other deaths each year?
    • 40,000+ die from a drug overdose-THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT!
    • 36,000 people die per year from the flu, far exceeding the criminal gun deaths.
    • 34,000 people die per year in traffic fatalities(exceeding gun deaths even if you include suicide).
    Now it gets good:
    • 200,000+ people die each year (and growing) from preventable medical errors. You are safer walking in the worst areas of Chicago than you are when you are in a hospital!
    • 710,000 people die per year from heart disease. It’s time to stop the double cheeseburgers! So what is the point? If the liberal loons and the anti-gun movement focused their attention on heart disease, even a 10% decrease in cardiac deaths would save twice the number of lives annually of all gun-related deaths (including suicide, law enforcement, etc.). A 10% reduction in medical errors would be 66% of the total number of gun deaths or 4 times the number of criminal homicides ................ Simple, easily preventable 10% reductions! So you have to ask yourself, in the grand scheme of things, why the focus on guns? It's pretty simple:
    Taking away guns gives control to governments. The founders of this nation knew that regardless of the form of government, those in power may become corrupt and seek to rule as the British did by trying to disarm the populace of the colonies. It is not difficult to understand that a disarmed populace is a controlled populace.
    Thus, the second amendment was proudly and boldly included in the U.S. Constitution. It must be preserved at all costs. So the next time someone tries to tell you that gun control is about saving lives, look at these facts and remember these words from Noah Webster: "Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed."
    What ever happen to up hold the Oath of office to protect and up hold the CONSTITUTION of the USA....NOT MAKE YOUR OWN RULES/LAWS...

    Regarding the issues in Vietnam Colt had hyped up the gun as "self-cleaning" and the military believed them when they bought them, which is why they didn't issue cleaning kits at first. They quickly found that wasn't true, which issue was exasperated by the military using different ammo than what Colt had specified without testing the change. They subsequently issued cleaning kits and changed the ammo and the guns then performed for the rest of the conflict. Every attempt to replace the AR in military service since then has failed as every design tested hasn't been better. Except the Marines which are currently transitioning to the HK 416, a piston AR that is more than 90% compatible with standard AR parts.

    The Army standard for the M4 is 4cm (roughly 1.5 inches) at 25 meters. If you think about it, that's about 5-3/4 MOA!
    Quick math:
    25m = 27.3403yd
    100yd / 27.3403yd = 3.657
    4cm = 1.574in
    1.574in(at 25m) x 3.657 = 5.756in at 100yd = 5.756 MOA
    If you can shoot 5-3/4 MOA or better in the "prone-supported" position, you meet the U.S. Army standard for M4.

    • @jmart0189

      Just a small gripe about the math. If you're going to split hairs and go that far into the calculations using that many decimal points, you might as well use the minute of angle measurement at 100yds with the same number of decimal points. The 1" @100yds is rounded down very slightly as it's close enough for nearly all practical uses.

If an AR-15 doesn't shoot sub MOA, it doesn't mean that it's a junk rifle. 223 , 243 , 273 all great hunting calibers. Took my first deer with a 223 Remington bolt action at around 100yds. I happen to get my hands on a brand new colt 6920le before colt stopped civilian production.

    I had to educate both of my parents on how the AR wasn’t automatic. When you’re raised on movies instead of actually being outdoors, your brain thinks it knows things about guns because “yeah ive seen them a hundred times in films”. Just a different culture, one that doesnt live in reality though

    My AR is in 7.62x39. Aero Precision lower with a BCA rifle length upper. I added a nickel boron bcg and enhanced firing pin. Has never failed to go boom. It's scoped and if I do my job right it'll do clover leafs at 100 yds with the Hornady Black ammo. Very pleased with it.

    THE reason the gubmint doesn't want the AR in public hands is thus: An experienced user/instructor can take a student from 8 to 80yrs old to the range and with 20 minutes of instruction, have said student hitting a man size target out to 400 yards. THAT is why they hate it when we posses them. It's a low recoil, high capacity, fairly powerful and ACCURATE rifle. THAT is why it has been in service in the military for so long. It's not that it is ideal for EVERY situation but it is effective in a broad range of situations. (Be afraid of ANYONE who fears good people being armed!)

    What always gets me with the “AR-15 is too weak man!” crowd is that they always seem to like pointing out that its .22 caliber, as if “.22 caliber” says anything about power level, and somehow puts .223 even remotely in the same power category as .22 LR. One weighs 40 grains and goes 1,200 fps. The other weighs 55 grains and goes 3,000 fps. That’s a big, BIG difference. Like “by a factor of 10 in muzzle energy” difference.

    A good video to pair with this one, if you're intrigued by the influx of mass shootings, is paul Harrell's series on the subject.
    He compares the ar15 to what was available long before it was invented and got the bad rap by the media. 20-30 rd detachable mags, semi automatics, availability, etc have always been there. In fact, you could mail order military surplus rifles back in the 50's 60's with no background checks. Something else is going on, and it's not the big bad ar15 the media and politicians point their fingers at.
    If you like this channel and dont know paul Harrell, I recommend watching his mass shooting vids. He approaches and works through claim after claim to make sense of everything, and does it quite eloquently.
    I'm not friends with him, but I think what he says deserves to have more views.

But my PSA's are like 15 year old Honda civics I don't clean them I shoot garbage though them. Someone drops them I couldn't care less. But I could any of them up and ring steel at 500m and run a thousand rounds with no malfunction.

    Stoner made the AR 10 but it was actually Colt that changed it to 556 an the AR 15,I was one of the three kids that demonstrated the gun for Colt for the US Army who ended up contracting with Colt for the weapon .I was 9 years old and my brother and friend were seven.We fired the weapon off our chin ,sternum and then gonads at a makeshift running deer our gun club had.The Engineer was Dan Fitzpatrick who pretty much set the whole thing up.

    If you’re willing to spend a $1,000+ on a new AR, I’d highly suggest looking into building one yourself. There are so many great aftermarket parts out there that $1,000+ would build a fantastic custom firearm even in the current market.
