Such a versatile and talented actor/director/composer and more. Can’t wait to go see the movie and hear the track. Also really nice to hear the respect he has when he talks about Tolkien’s world. I wouldn’t mind him having a go at ‘something’ middle earth, especially when he seems a guy that wants to make things worthwhile and in a good way with the right motivation.
"Thanks for your time." ~Viggo showing what a classy mindset he has. Mega stars like him are used to hearing "thanks for your time" from everyone else, but Viggo is so humble that he thanks Matt for HIS time. That's MY king right there
@@NerdoftheRingsyou were too! Very respectful! Loved this interview!! You listened, didn’t interrupt. And when there was a pause you asked very insightful questions. It gave a chance for us as listeners to learn a lot about Viggo Mortenson’s thoughts on his projects, and filmmaking and experiences as an actor. And as much as you love LOTR and the movies…really appreciate how you let Viggo take the lead in this. And asked him questions about his recent film. This was a very thoughtful and considerate interview! And VM knew it too. Says a LOT about both of you. 🧡🧡 Thank you so much for this! 🙏Truly enjoyed it!
I respect that the interview followed Viggo's current works in spite of this channel's name and obvious fan base. In an attempt of empathizing with actors/directors such as Viggo, I would imagine as great as it can be to be renowned for one particular role, it must be a double edged sword when you're a person who constantly wants to grow and expand as an artist with grace and integrity. The price of extreme success all too often is being only seen in the context of that moment in time. A lot of respect for making this about the present.
Agree, he can ask him after the interview that if Viggo would like to talk mainly about lotr some other time, then he could let him know. If I remember correctly thats what Nerd did with John Rhys Davies, first time was talk like this, then the second was mainly about lotr
THANK YOU for letting Viggo speak and take his time to answer the questions. Truly respectful of the actor and his time that is rarely seen in most interviews and videos nowadays. A very thorough and thoughtful interview. Super appreciated!

I’ve always been a big horse person and seeing his love and respect for horses has always inspired me. He seems like such a cool dude. Long live the king!
I had the great honour and pleasure to sit in the front row of a screening of this beautiful film in one of Copenhagen's historic cinemas. After the screening Viggo came up on stage for a live interview and he took questions from the audience as well. I was fortunate to ask him about the amazing score, which as you know, he wrote and played a big part of himself. He was so humble and nice. I remember thinking "The king of Gondor is sitting right in front me!"👑🗡️❤😄 Side note: I was eating popcorn and somehow some got in my hair. When the lights came on my friend said "Oh my God, Viggo is coming in a minute and there's popcorn in your hair!" She quickly helped me brush it out and I was presentable before the king! 🍿😉 Fantastic experience! 🙌💜
The fact that you got to speak to Viggo is so amazing. Listening to him speak is always so great. He truly takes the questions and answers them thoroughly with care. He’s so fascinating with his interests, abilities, and ideas. Thanks for a great interview Matt!
I'll never not be eternally taken-aback by how thoughtful and down to earth Viggo is - at least from the interviews I've seen him do. We should all do our best to be more like Viggo :P
Your joy is palpable man. Kudos for this achievement. Viggo strikes me as a kind genuine soul who handpicks his projects and enjoys a quiet life away from the Hollywood buzz.
Viggo is one of my favourite people on this earth. He's such a good actor, director, and humble person. A true proffesional. He even speaks like 7 languages. He's an absolute legend and hope to see him in more MIddle Earth projects!
What a great guy to interview. He asked Viggo one question, and his answer continued flowing for absolutely ages, with every sentence giving valuable insight. I bet, in the morning you could ask Viggo to describe the inside of a ping-pong ball and he’d still be going strong in the evening, just getting started.
Such a great interview. I loved his thoughts on being the actor, director and composer for a movie. I was definitely curious about that! Thanks again for an amazing interview Matt!
Brilliantly done dude. Not just for getting Viggo on, but also the style of interviewing. Not just some fanboy, but actually professional in what you do
And PJ would actually want to talk about LOTR and Middle-earth which this interview sorely lacked! Understandable though and it was still great to hear from Viggo.
Matt, you are so amazing. I’m starting to feel guilty about how much I love this channel! Viggo! They just don’t come any better and as usual, you did a phenomenal job, Matt. Thank you so very much.
Congratulations and thank you, to both yourself and Viggo for taking the time to do this. Tolkien's world has a real magic, it is a pleasure to share it with you both.
Man, this was amazing! What a blessing! If we get to see Viggo and Ian again in The Hunt For Gollum, I’m going to be crying tears of joy in my popcorn bucket. 😅
Came here because I love Viggo as Aragorn. I am a lover of great westerns. I grew up with the Lone Ranger, it honestly shaped a large part of who I am. This interview felt so organic and I appreciated it was only briefly LOTR focused. It is amazing to see someone talk about something they are passionate about. This movie was not on my radar. It is now!
Viggo actually lives not to far from me and does Q&A at our local theater and talks about his career. Such an amazing actor and such an amazing performance as Aragorn. Viggo was also great in the film Hidalgo.
We absolutely need Viggo in the directors chair when the time comes for a middle earth adaptation. He literally knows what we want as fans of the lore and I whole heartedly believe he would deliver, 100%
Thanks Matt for this! Serious think you did such a great job with this interview. As much as we all would have loved Viggo talk about LOTR for hours and hours, you respected the fact of his New Film and dove in asking about that instead. Viggo is such a great man and so talented, not just in acting but in everything it seems!
Wow, what a treat. I loved hearing about Viggo’s creative vision and current works. It was also lovely to hear about the integrity in doing Tolkien’s work as it was intended. Absolutely love if this channel takes some time to promote the work of our beloved cast and crew from Lotr! That’s what this community is for!! Thanks for Sharing news on your project Viggo! Just watched The Road last week and it was awesome!
I was just talking earlier today to someone that brought up Viggo in the LOTR trilogy. I do believe they are amongst my favorite films, but I had to rant about the "viggo trilogy" with Cronenberg of Eastern Promises, A History of Violence, and lastly Viggo as Sigmund Freud in A Dangerous Method. Those films made me realize he's so much more than the actor of Aragorn we all know and love. It's wonderful to see this extra level of complexity to the man. Love you Viggo!
Excellent interview! Vigoo is such an amazing actor, filmmaker, and composer. He is incredible in every way. I wouldn't be mad if he never entered the Toklien sphere ever again as his new films are fantastic! I look forward to watching anything he's involved in.

Viggo is correct, whether you liked them or not the western genre was plentiful and extended into the 1970's as I recall. Kung Fu was martial arts/western, Little House on the Prairie was pioneer/western, Bonanza was pure western, F-Troop was military/cowboys & Indians/comedy/western, The Beverly Hillbillies brought the rustic country life to modern (at that time) living in a comedy/western, The Lone Ranger was adventure/cowboys & indians/western. John Wayne made-for-tv-extended westerns were really prolific. There are probably several I am failing to recall as well.
He's incredible as Tony - such a perspective shift. Love him deeply in Captain Fantastic - which is thankfully as far removed from being an MCU film or have any relevance to super hero's as the title would suggest! Xx
