The algorithm is finally starting to show me videos that I missed in the first year of CK, and I love this little morsel of James O'Barr, such an influential creator. Rest Easy Ed
James O’Barr is going to be in my town of Chico, CA next month, attending our “ChicoCon”.... and I wanted to read a couple more of his old comics beforehand, so ironically I had ordered a copy of this issue online, and it arrived in the mail Friday, and shortly after I opened the package, you posted this video. Man, what cool timing!!! Thanks Ed!
He was the first pro that I felt like I was hanging out with, Him, and Rags Morales took the time to talk to me, and my family, who didn't know them at all. I have maybe 5 O'Barr pieces, and he comes off as lovably salty.
From a comment John Bergin left on my Instagram last year: "IO was also worked on by Guy Davis and Vince Locke. Collectively we called ourselves 'Barbed Wire Halo Studios' (a name James thought up of course!)"
The "Io" pages were also republished by frequent O'Barr collaborator John Bergin as simply _Io._ I'm not sure how the reproduction stacks up to _Original Sins,_ but _Io_ is still in print. The Danzig character also appeared in O'Barr's "Snake Dance," which was published Blackball Comics's _Monster Massacre Special_ # 1, and in John Bergin's _Golgothika_ (from Caliber) and _Wednesday._ Wednesday is still in print, and I believe Bergin is working on finishing and reprinting _Golgothika._ "Snake Dance" was supposed to be part of O'Barr's abandoned "Gothika" series ("Frame 137" was part of this as well). The idea, according to Bergin, was that _Gothika_ would include portions by both O'Barr and Bergin. _Golgothika_ is basically Bergin's contributions. IIRC, O'Barr's Danzig stories for Gothika were meant to take place before Io, and Bergin's Golgothika and Wednesday both take place after Io.
@@captainnegativity9269 Thanks for the encyclopedic answer, Cap. Based on the dates it still sounds legally suspect to me. I also remember some black and white publisher (like Eternity maybe?) reprinting early Mickey Mouse strips with racist subtexts. I think it was called the Uncensored Mouse and Disney stomped it out of existence pretty quickly. Black and white publishing was just rife with all kinds of brash quasi-legal content during the boom times.

Ed, if you can find it, Joe Coleman's Mystery of Woolverine Woo-Bait might be good for a bedtime read.

From the ads, it looks like ACG was publishing a Shadow comic in 1999, which makes me wonder if their version came from public domain material.

Awww yeah!
Ed! Check out Filth:a film by Adam Ciolfi. Totally outlaw/splatterpunk claymation.
What publisher is Red Room going to be under??
The one that romances Eddie P the most.
