It's possible she is way over her policy here and can get personally sued for the remainder. For example here in MA the minimum coverage is $5000, which goes quickly when you are talking about multiple front end panel replacement on an exotic sports car for which there are probably few available replacement parts yet. That and her rates will get jacked up.

It happened a couple of years ago with my wife's R8. We were in the bay area and had parked the car in a directed valet section supposedly "safe" from the dings/dents normally associated with other people parking next to us. Well a kid in a riced out 80's integra (cheese cutter wing) somehow ended up on the passenger side hood of the car! This by the way was on the sidewalk side so I guess the huge wing wasn't keeping his car down at speed as he apparently flew over the driver's side of the car. It was devastating. Yes it can be fixed, but the depreciation for a fixed car does not hold its value better than a pristine car with no previous damage. So no matter how you look at it (yes of course its great nobody was killed) the 458 owner is taking a loss. It took several months to even start the repairs on our Audi. I can only imagine the wait time associated in repairing a 458 (and repairing it correctly).

the insurance covers avergage accidents that are like 5k in damages and if its over 15k most likely they just total and pay off the car note. But insurances don't want to cover 30k on damages, can you imagine how much her insurance is going go up
