. .i just had the thought that honey badgers are the only thing that would fight the other houses animals just because it could. Magical honey badgers just seem more terrifying.
not only is their animal the badger they are also the only house that has no issues with the other houses given a reason Hufflepuff could take over Hogwarts then burn down the wizarding world and rebuild it from scratch with the other houses as their loyal supporters they just never deemed it worth the effort

That "carefully curated" bit reminded me of my little Kobold Rogue. Who put on a persona based on traits he'd seen that were deemed "likeable" in people so he'd have more friends to keep him safe. To the point where not even he no longer knew what was the real him anymore.

Oh my gosh, I'm a hufflepuff and I enjoy watching fires and currently learning what can count as real life herbalogy. Dad got me into gardening and then foraging, mom has been teaching me a bit about dye plants so of course I'm learning what has medical uses and what's poison along side that. 1 native plant to the southern states of the US is pokeweed that's verious amounts poisonous. The roots have medical use but are so poisonous that it's best to leave it to trained professionals. The young leaves and stalks under 1 ft are safe to eat after boiling for 5 min in 2 changes of water. Smells and tastes similar to cabbage.
