    when you bring them up from the deep like that your actually doing quite a bit of damage, if ya look in their mouths 9 times out of 10 their swim bladders are bulging out cause you brought them up too fast, a lot of fish won't survive stress like that. but....AMAZING FISHING!

    Love catching lakers through the Ice. man there are some stupid comments on here all you Ice Fishing Purists who think you Have to use an "Ice Rod" to Ice fish are full of crap the only thing those stubby lil rods are good for is fishing in a shack you dont need a short rod to "help them up through the hole' its nice to have a long rod for setting the hook at 100 plus feet when lines stretch even the braided lines stretch a little at those depths. great video

    I watched the vid on my laptop with sound and figured it out. Ice rod with thick braided line doesn't make a lick o sense. U can put any reel on any ice rod. Funny how ppl comment and don't know what there talking about, also to lidd, lake trout have a unique ability to belch air so your comment would be better suited to another species of fish.

      Evan Caird i agree people keep all the big ones then there is only the little ones left then people keep those and boom no fish and i am 12 i caught a 35 inch northern pike through the ice and you think i would keep it nope i did the right thing of letting it go letting it grow bigger and to this day i am still proud of my self

    the thing I don't like about the vid. is how they had a snowmobile out in like 6 inch of ice!!! not very safe

    • @dougamclean
      @dougamclean 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** 7.5" will definitely not hold 2 tons..that's insane!! like 12" for that much weight. 8-12" for a small car, 5-7" is fine for a sled provided it's clear ice and there is no snow cover to insulate it.

    Wrong...lake trout can burp up the air and can easily survive being brought up from 100+ feet. Get your facts straight.

  • @bfritsch2005
    @bfritsch2005 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    why would you use a full sized rod. There is a reason they make ice fishing rods. You dont look foolish using them.

    • @Dboy1man
      @Dboy1man 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      What would you use fishing in a hundred feet of water and setting the hook on a 20 pound laker? Let me guess, a 28 inch medium/light ice pole with #4 test? I think you are foolish!

    @lidd0047 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really? You do much fresh water trout fishing in the Cayman Islands? I bet you've done a lot of lake trout tagging to determine survival success rates on fish brought up from deep waters too. If deep living trout are brought up at a rate which allows them to adjust to the pressure difference they can survive but if not they generally die. Get YOUR facts straight. Knob.
