    my monthly mortgage in a gated community in California is $100 more than this guys monthly condo rental. Sounds like his cost of living is pretty high for Cebu.

      I’d need to know where in CA you’re living? I moved two years ago from Bay Area and my 1800sq ft condo was a 2.4 million mortgage. Fed and state taxes taking half your pay makes it a challenge for most folks.

    The guy worked hard all his life and is entitled to live this high end life. He has earned it for himself.
    I just hope people don’t freeload on him. Looking at his entertainment budget he is a prime candidate.

  • @55mikeburns
    @55mikeburns ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I question his need for a car. I take taxis everywhere in Cebu and it's maybe $2-3 each trip. Plus I don't have to worry about driving in this chaotic traffic, which can be crazy at times with motorbikes darting in and out.

    Day-um! That $4700/mo is about double my budget. I have a 2 BR not far from IT park, called Winland Towers, and I only pay 35k pesos (about $630/mo) . I'm on the 21st floor of a modern building. For his $4700 you can really live large.

    Like you said, he can afford to live life on a "Vacation" budget! Good for him. I assume he is a full time expat and doesn't maintain a footprint back home. Enjoying his best life is priceless, for sure! We should all be so lucky to have those resources to maintain that lifestyle! But even on a more modest budget, having a smaller apartment in the same building, a scooter instead of a car, maybe not eating out every meal, and renting a "Bed Warmer" once a week, seems like it could be doable on half, or less his budget.

    • @k9companion231
      @k9companion231 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Only one thought sir. Many people do not like riding scooters due to danger and rain. If a car is in the budget it only makes sense to use one. God bless.

    • @bigjohnson7415
      @bigjohnson7415 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@k9companion231 Agreed. But it seems due to the lack of Signal Lights, Traffic density in population centers, and just plain expense, scooters are the most popular form of transportation there. I can totally relate to the insane driving they do there, but spending hours to go a few miles doesn't hold too much joy either.

    • @PaulWorldZoom
      @PaulWorldZoom  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So correct Sir, both the rental car and the apartment will change soon. He is looking for a large 1 bedroom instead. He never used the 2nd bedroom. Cebu City hell no. That place is a mess. I grew up and went to college in Cebu City. The Cebu that I knew 40 years ago was nice now its super crowded and polluted. The traffic is a mess and its getting expensive. We still own properties in the city and a farm not too far from it. I got over $4000/month from pension and my supplemental SSS and with even with assets over a million dollars. I don't think it would be a good choice of place to retire and have a quiet life. Now if you want to be near the action. Like nightlife what not then its for you. But I've done all that craziness when I was young. All I want now is a beach house and a nice center console boat for fishing/diving.

    I did extensive research on private medical insurance. My conclusion: “ practically worthless piece of paper.” Every major claim will trigger a reevaluation of your policy and your premium adjusted. If you end up in terminal costly decease like cancer, they will outright cancel your policy. Chances are pretty good that you will pass away before you can pursue your case legally. If you don’t, can you afford a costly legal fee after paying a hefty medical bill?
    Read your policy carefully, they can exclude practically any condition as preexisting. Since everything in your body is connected, any condition can be declared preexisting at their whim.

    • @PaulWorldZoom
      @PaulWorldZoom  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Appreciated. Several insurance companies do deny many claims initially. They then hope they patients don’t appeal the he decision. Some are worse than others

    That’s an annual 56K USD so not outrageous for anyone who’s put in the lifetime of SS and 401K.
    You’d be on a very, very basic living standard on that amount in the States.
    Some really interesting details you provided. Kaiser in the Philippines 🇵🇭 Wow. But no GF is the biggest detail. How is that possible 🤷🏽‍♂️ Perhaps that is covered by entertainment 😂
    Thanks for the interesting video.

    You friend group seem to need transposition -- cars, motor scooters, etc. Eastwood -- contained like a family man's Makati. We walk to the stores/restaurants/out small mall. We have events -- album releases, dog blessing, pride day, free concerts, food days, farmers markets, tech show cases... I might take a Grab once every 2 or 3 weeks.... $1000 for a car? Cripes my 2 bed room condo, lighting fast internet, a 24x7 aircon costs me $700 and I can walk everywhere.

      @@PaulWorldZoom BGC is spread out. Eastwood is contained. Maybe 20 high rise condos/officers (call center) with a small 4 story mall (60-80 stores) a few super markets and say 30 restaurants. You don't need to leave unless you need a big store.

    Now is living like a King in the Philippines , not really for me I like it a little more on the simple side , I am not a big drinker and I don't smoke also I stay out of the bars , I don't have anything against the Ladyboys and the Pok pok most of them are really nice , the one big thing I like about the Philippines there is very little aggression , but as you know Paul it is a different way of like and to enjoy it to the full you need to immerse yourself in it. Thanks great video.

      Thanks Shaun, a huge adjustment for me has been the attempted shift from a strong A personality to more relaxed attitude. I do okay for a few days, but getting honked at still really pisses me off 😎😎 Also, a bank visit will stress me out for sure. I’m working on it. Thanks for the comment
