The reason to mower with rear mower towards the hedge, is if you hit anything there protected buy a brake-back and less likely to be damaged that the front one.
The reason you do the outside round with the back mower is so you have an opportunity to see anything that's large enough to totally write off the mower before you actually get to it with the mower.
💯
Completely disagree. Way easier to see the front mower
@@Rmac-eb2zb not easier to see what’s going into mower compared to back mower
Shouldn't have anything lying around the headlands , check pre Close off and again around with the quad before mowing.
That puma is a lovely tractor
If you’re mowing your own fields and you know them really well it’s ok to use the front mower for ease and speed.
Mow around the hedge with the side mower keeps your tractor further away from any bushes or branches so less of a chance to get your mirror taken off
Ahhhh, also makes sense.
Yea shit summer, but the cutting and flying the drone gave me a giggle. Crack on!.😂
Always found the rear mowers can deal with debris a bit better than the fronts, also they don’t chuck anything you might by hit at the front of the tractor!
Great Video, You did well not to crash the Drone, thanks for sharing
Try the met office satellite map section, it's usually fairly accurate for a precise location, in the short term at least.
Anti-clockwise mowing doesn’t miss grass when turning on the corners left 👍
My rear mower pulls in and out.
@@FarmTheoryNIHow does it do that?
I leave big stripes of grass going anti clockwise when both mowers are down. Clockwise is a bit better.
@@FarmTheoryNI didn’t even know you could get a rear mower that does that tbh .. allways enjoy your videos
its cause if u go clock wise around the field when u go round a corner u miss a bit and you have to go back and mow it where as if u go anticlock wise u get the bit u missed and therefor u dont have to go back and mow it twice
Back mower to the hedge is just a precaution, ou might be able to spot somthing like a big rock or lump of fence before the back mower reaches it.. But to be fair, its doesnt matter in your case, as youve obviously already cut all your fields many times and you know theres nothing to hit.. A contractor doing a foregin field would probably use the back mower for that reason..
Great video Andrew... even though you almost blacked out the entire northwest! Keep a chain in the Massey and the drone in the Lada for the next few days. All the best with the silage.👍
I took out power to 8000 homes with the JF spout 3 years ago. 😅
2 reason I mow the opposite way around the field, if I mow going anticlockwise I can see better if I’m going to hit something around the wall (stone walls with me 🙈) also I don’t leave Mohicans in every corner going anticlockwise.
That was a close call with the wires!
Crazy close!
Mowing along the hedge with the front mower is too risky, think about it you can’t see any foreign objects from the seat but if you have the side mower taking out the back swarth you can see and avoid unnecessary damage. Il put it this way if you were on the country mowing you wouldn’t be long changing. Very enjoyable video, thanks
You will get it when rock goes through the front window.
Andrew I have one question I'd say a lot of people are screaming about, How is your third cut grass so good !!!!!!!
Correct soil fertility, plenty of fertilizer applied at the right time and a light second cut with a high cutting height so it got a great start I would say.
@@FarmTheoryNI and a bit of heat.
We did our 3rd 3 weeks ago when you were applying more fert, 4th is absolutely flying at the moment.
You need to try a set of butterflies!!! You would never go back, 100 acres in 6 hours 1 man 1 tractor no stress. None of your "oh I'm going to be cutting for 9 hours" with help😢😂😂
That's some crop where you're droning.
Man that was close.
I know! 😅
Meanwhile over this neck of the woods (Cavan/ Monoghan) the dairymen
were praying for rain however yesterday evening's (Wed)
cloud burst put paid to that..
#CloudSeeding 🌦 🤔
Back mower has a break back
So does the front? Doesn't it?
BBC even lies about the weather 🙄
Can't understand why the drone didn't get fried....it hit the lines!! Side mounted mowers have break-back if you were to hit a large foreign object...but you know that anyway. Great crop of grass...extra nitrogen paid off!!
Why would it get fried?
@@Matt19777 wing span of a bird getting fried all the time on bare high voltage cables near me!!??......laying on the ground dead as Nelson....keep gathering them up to avoid botulism in my coos!
The extra N definitely payed off!! So so so so glad I applied it.
@@raymondrobinson4047 what on earth are you bullshitting about chap?
If you hit something with the back mower it’s meant to do les damage even though I still mow like you with front mower round first lol 😂
looks like plenty of grass from drone
no break back on the front mower
It’s his own ground he knows what’s ther
@@davidporter9556 thats what though till some one threw a small girder over the hedge.
@@grandpaandlucas7054 do the same to bac mower as front
Why have you not considered triples? Is it weight issues in wet spots? With that sort of acreage I’d imagine it would speed it up considerably
The cost for the extra mower is mental!
Nearly done a tom Pemberton on the power lines 😂
did you mole drain. to the drains
I hope u remember to time a full load with the 1260
I did not. 😅
@@FarmTheoryNI 2025 so 🤣🤣
yea that was VERY close
the lack of sunshine is probably the reason your silage isn't so good this year. a job for your boy to fly the drone😀
Yeah, and a mild winter I think.
Geo engineered weather
Some outfit
Hi where are you in the country
Omagh
The reason is because farms don't have front arms so they only cut with the back mower like my farm
🇮🇪🇮🇪👏👏👍👍👌👌🙏🙏
Our 1st and 2nd cuts have low me and cp too. Cut april and may. 🙈
Just one of them years. 🤷
Too much N in your first cut?
Nope, ammonia values where fine.
