good idea with the falling tree can you please try and do a demo of how to make a falling tree stand up in one bit and then fall down into two bits and stand up in one bit again
Hi Dan, great to hear from you, great idea with the falling tree and chain saw sound the kids are going to love pushing that button. Hope to hear from you again soon. Regards George....
G,day Dan. That's a pretty neat animation, it will add more interactive fun to the layout. I think you should cut out a larger hole and glue in a small wooden block to screw that motor to. Cheers Dan, David.
G'day to you, great idea the falling tree, chainsaw sounds and the kids button to operate it. Your timing situation is a little like my level crossing where I sequence the yellow light, then the red flashing lights and finally the gates. The children will love it. Rob
Rob McCrain G’day Rob, glad you like it! Yep the timing thing will be a bit hit and miss, but should be a bit of fun. Your crossing has come out so well! Cheers 😊
Nice addition, I think you should give the tree more space, because the servo moves upwards when the tree is down. And the tree should seesaw a bit at the end of fall. Perhaps it helps to let him drop in a small angel to the tracks. Good luck and enjoy, Cheers Andy
Andy's trains and more Thanks Andy, and you’re absolutely right. I actually spoke about that very problem in a clip but ended up editing it out to make the video shorter. I think what you say though is spot on, and I’m now going to relocate the tree to a position where it can do that I think. Stay tuned 😊 Cheers, Dan
what a great idea a great feature to the layout like the little box with sound effects have been thinking of something similar for the church scene and the cricket ground on my layout all the best al /ps the wether hears terrible could do with some of your sunny weather if you have any spare 😃👍😎🎅
G'day Dan Great to hear that your still alive and kicking - must have been a busy time at work that kept you away from the layout, but remember that work time means more money to spend on hobby time! Looking forward to seeing the final product all sceniced in. Clyde
klatchco56 Absolutely Clyde, spot in! Flat out with work but determined to get a few videos done in the next couple of months including one from the exhibition 😊
Never seen the falling spruce before, Not sure how the electronics are setup on it, but check to see if you can adjust the max angle/throw for the servo, would also benefit from fitting a better mount to fix the servo to would help minimize the servo from jumping once the tree hits the opposite bank... looking at the chainsaw box, did I see a socket for an external speaker may help with the sound and could also fit the external speaker underneath the baseboard closer to the tree as well?
Pete's Hobbies G’day Pete, thanks for the great suggestions. I’m actually now thinking of relocating the tree to a spot which may be better, not sure yet. That may be a plug for an external speaker, I’ll look into that! Cheers, Dan
Dan that is a really good scene and good idea making the tree fall on the tracks well done. And i wonder if the tree will last longer than the kids pressing the button cheers Robert
A novel idea Dan , good to see something different on scenics for the layout .. just hope the timings are right before the train arrived , the multi voltage plug ins are good , I have about 8 of them in various places on my layout ... the water mill with sound is another great addition ... what next ? The mind boggles .. Dave
csxmad Thanks mate, and yep I hope so LOL. In fact I may now move the tree, not sure, but I think I’ve come up with a better idea. Stay tuned 😃 Cheers, Dan
David Howarth Ha ha, thanks Dave - and thanks for the idea of those plugs in the first place! I don’t know what I’d do without them now! As for what’s next, I do have one or two tricks up my sleeve, hopefully they’ll be revealed in the next vid 😃

David Atkins Thanks David, and great suggestion there. I may now actually relocate it to a spot where I can attach it better, stay tuned. Cheers 😊
Nice one Dan, hope the tree doesn't derail the trains when it does come down, when the layout is ready for display.
Willowfs4472 Thanks mate! I’m actually now thinking of moving it to a different location just in case 🤔
