Your block looked really good, although I agree with what you said about this race being a little too early after the reset. It's certainly a good place to leave 2024 and start 2025 though. Fingers crossed for some good training weather over the winter 🥶
Just got back from running Malaga marathon at the weekend - would 100% recommend as a cheaper alternative. £60 return flights from Bristol, think the race entry was about 60euros, cheap apartment right in the centre of the town for the week, whole race was very well organised. People were still pissing everywhere though!! Great running in Valencia.....roll on 2025!
Great vid, love the pro’s con’s chat Echo what you’ve heard.. I finished at 3.14pm, seconds before the 3.15pm cut off 😬 & the crowds were almost non-existent, whereas the crowds in MCR were significantly better for us slower runners, but I guess that’s the nature of a quick marathon? Bottles were great; just wish they had salt at aid stations. Ran Tallinn in 30 degree heat in Sept. & the salt was an absolute game changer. Can’t reccomend that marathon enough btw. Sometimes the smaller events are more organised 😅 Can’t believe you had to fork out £200pp while I nabbed a ticket for the same flight for £60 Good luck for your next marathon 💪
Well done again William and great you learning from your mistakes and burnout. Enjoy the rest and recovery, have a fab Christmas and wishing you and your family a great 2025!
You list a whole range of negative factors leading into the race and on the day itself which led to you being a huge..... ...... 1 minute off your predicted time😂 You're in very good shape.
Well done for resting I see so many runners laugh straight into another training block without proper rest and a few weeks later they are injured.Your body may feel ok but it needs at least a couple pf weeks to recover after a marathon imo.
I also stayed in Alicante (it was easier to get there by plane, literally 25 euro one way using Ryanair from/to Warsaw) and also saw those heaps of cars next to Valencia - moving picture... I agree that it's worth running - great city to see and great event. I also liked bottles on the route - much more comfortable. Start was for me quite clear - it was that big gate, but indeed comparing to Berlin or Paris it was not so impressive. For me it was too hot, congrats for your performance and good luck in Barcelona - it's on my list but not this time, I registered for Stockholm. But I have many freinds who ran Barcelona and they were very positive about it (however route is not so flat and fast like Valencia).
Inspiring insight, Will. Congrats on winning the mental game and continuing to push. Cheers for making this ❤

I ran the Barcelona Marathon in 2017 and you going to like. Not fast as Sevilha or Valência but its Spain!!!! Cheers frim Portugal
The course is new since 2024 so it’s got faster than the old course.

Yay, I did the Barcelona marathon in March 24. Loved it. Hope you go for it. Lovely city too.
24 was the first time of the new course route. Glad you found it good!
Wil you are so close!! Just a few finishing touches and sub 3:00 is yours. If necessary consult a coach
